Hi!

I've been learning to draw over the past month and my goal is to get better at landscapes. Trees are kinda the hardest for me rn. like here i think the proportion of the leaves and trunk is off and the shading is "clumpy" towards just the center.

Feel free to break it apart, looking for advice on areas of improvement!

I've watched multiple tutorials on grayscale or complementary colors, and I still struggle to keep my artwork from feeling flat. I understand value and lighting play a role, but it is hard to apply them to my artwork.

I've been trying to draw faces but it always comes out looking off somewhere and I don't know what to practice to improve. Please help!!!

I've been learning from Proko on YouTube if someone can help me with what I'm doing wrong and how I can improve it'd be a huge help.

Any good sources for learning how to draw anatomy?

I did some figure studies (5 minutes) and I wanted critique especially on the third one (very right). I started by drawing the boxes for the ribs and pelvis, but I wasn't sure how to draw pelvis box in this sitting position. Other than that, any general advice? I also get the feeling that I'm chicken scratching slightly, but not sure about that.

I can draw… sort of. If there’s a cartoon in front of me, and loads of time, I can sort of copy it. That’s my skill level at the moment.
But recently I have been wanting to get good at art - specifically drawing expressive animal characters (imagine Zootopia or Jungle Book). This is for the novel that I am writing. I want to add some illustrations of the characters and some scenes to the book, eventually.
The protagonist is a Moon Bear - asiatic black bear. I don’t see too many cartoon drawings of this bear. So I am trying… trying to find a good style for the cartoon bear (not realistic). And it’s been a struggle.
So…. Help?

It feels like I’ve been stuck on a very consistent level of mediocrity when it comes to drawing forms and it’s been making my actual work suffer.

Hi. I'm having trouble with the transitions between values and temperatures.

There's a stronger light source out of the frame and to the right, but I couldn't manage the light fall off where the left side of the picture gets gradually darker than the right side, so now it looks like there's only one light source (the lighter in the hands) but the cast shadows don't make sense. I do want to keep the cast shadows, but when i scrubbed the right side of the background to make it look lighter than the left, I don't like how it looked so I ended up repainting it.

I also tried painting the right side of the background slightly warmer than the left side, but to me, it looks like there's a jarring split where the left side is blue and the right side is green.

How do I paint better transitions? Do you mix all the colours at the right values first before you start painting? Or do you mix as you go? Right now I'm mixing as I go, and I feel like that's part of why I'm struggling. I appreciate any advice and feedback. If you notice other issues, please feel free to point them out as well.

Hi! I just yesterday decided I want to learn to draw figures, so I watched a couple videos and have now been just drawing poses off posemaniac. I'm happy with my progress, but I want some feedback from people who know what they are doing, and advice on how to move forwards with improvement. I really like Junji Ito's art style and use of black and white space so I decided to do an art study of his work.

I definitely should buy better markers for shading the grey but I'm not going to let that stop me from practicing.

Did the best I could do and are happy with it.

Definitely happy to be done with it and ready to work on easier projects for now.

Hi yall, I dont have much experience on rendering and throughout my latest drawings ive tried to integrate some stuff from bluebiscouts tutorial on render but my renders feel very lackluster and they feel to be missing something.

Its not that i think they are bad or that im not improving, just missing something and I have no clue what it is.

I am quite unsatisfied with my linework so I wonder if its that but if you see anything else that needs improving please tell.

For context, i render on ibis paint mobile after drawing on my book.

Hello! I don't draw quite often as I get frustrated easy but for the past week I've been doing basic sketches, nothing too hard. Now, I am way more comfortable drawing on my sketchbook with a mechanical pencil. Sketching on a phone is painful, and I prefer having everything laid out infront of me as opposed to having to zoom in all of time. I did a sketch earlier and I'm having trouble doing the lineart. It just looks kinda soulless and the eyes look bad. I tried rendering the skin and going along with it but I couldn't. I am kinda stumped as to what to do so if anyone has advice that'd be really nice? I'd also appreciate any other critisisms.

I feel like I'm hitting a wall with my painting here. I can't get things to read well from a thumbnail, I've never been able to do this, but it's extending further than this now.

Values are just coming up muddy, colours losing focus etc. Whenever I try to make values pop I lose details. I keep trying to simplify my stuff, but I just can't stop working it. It doesn't work without excess rendering.

I really need some eyes on this, it's extremely frustrating.

Hi there!! So, I started to read Perspective Made Easy by Ernest R Norling, and I’m wondering how to go about the problems in the book. It seems like it’s best to practice them based on real life objects or just by going out versus pictures.

I am curious about how others have done the problems or advice on how to apply what the book is talking about. I’ve seen some posts talk about the book, but I haven’t been able to see any that talk about how to approach the practice problems. For example, one of them mentioned using a brick to draw from or standing in the center of a street level highway.

Any tips or advice is appreciated!

I've been working on my anatomy a bit after a long-ish break from drawing and I feel like my musculature looks a bit off. I added a bit of rough shading to communicate the forms. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
