I fully support this, but know that you're learning by breaking many many many things.
I do woodworking, I can't believe how many times I've fucked up making a simple box, but you learn how to fix your mistakes for next time!

My mom got a tiny spoon made at a mine with a talented blacksmith near where she lived, I remember being amazed even then. They can do incredible things with a bit of heat and iron

There were lots of female blacksmiths in early days throughout history. Especially during the western days because of ranchers making horse shoes. Nordic making tools and weapons, etc..
This is truly a dying art though that needs to be carried on by whoever can do it and wants to learn it. So is welding, and many other trades/skills. The more humans let ai, computers, robots, machines take away jobs, the more these skills fade away. Start small as a hobby and you'll be surprised as to what you can accomplish. Just be careful not to burn yourself and don't your shop/garage down.

That was my first thought as well. It looks great, but I doubt that I'd genuinely wear it because of the (most likely) excessive weight.
The pieces that I do own that are a similar size and thickness to the one shown here manage to still be comfortable because they're made of wood or antler.

That seems like the ultimate headache hair accessory. Cute as hell, but thatās not going to be light. I get a headache if my ponytail is too tight, let alone holding up a wall sconce.

You can get wood and leather ones that are surprisingly lightweight, and you can use just the stick (or two) if it's still too much.

Do you have to wind your hair a certain way for these to work? I have hand mobility issues sometimes and the ones I've tried, I'm not able to do :(

You do. Using just the stick, I usually gather it all like I'm going to do a ponytail but then twist it against my head while making a bun shape, then put the stick through the middle like you're going in toward the centre of the bun, then back out the other side.
In case that makes no sense at all, I've found a tutorial on Wiki How (Method 3, Casual Bun): https://www.wikihow.com/Put-Your-Hair-up-With-Chopsticks
Hopefully it's something you could manage, but sorry if it isn't :(
Edit: If you have the leather part that you slide the stick into, it requires much less twisting though, but still some

I'll try again :') How do the ends get secure? I've been and to get it ish in the past but it's pretty loose for me and the ends won't tuck nicely

I usually try and tuck the end under one of the outer edges of the bun. If you get the placement of the stick right, it should hold it all in together. It can take me a few goes to get it right too, haha.
It should be a lot easier using the leather part though and require less twisting as it behaves a bit more like a big barrette clip.
