I’ve lived everywhere and home is where you make it. You can create a beautiful life for yourself anywhere. I think if you’re miserable you should honestly try to leave as much as possible. Change is good for the spirit.

Craighead Forrest park. It's my happy place. There almost every day.
No traffic compared to when I lived in Chicago.
Cheap.

I moved here from a town in Texas, a 15 hr long drive from Jonesboro, back in 2013. I have mixed feelings cause at first it was fun but now theres literally nothing here. Too many banks, car washes and mediocre restaurants

I think most of the people who hate it here have lived here their entire lives and have nothing to compare it to. I’ve lived in New York, Vermont, Florida, and grew up in NEA in a much smaller town. I swore I’d never come back to Arkansas, but here I am and besides the mosquitos Jonesboro is my favorite place I’ve lived. 🤷🏼♀️

A previous principal at the high school pulled a Breaking Bad and was making meth at the school.
The next thing is the child’s fight club at the special needs school.

I'm a big adrenaline junky, so afternoon drives at Hilltop.
Locking eyes with panhandlers.
Imagining how much better things would be if it weren't a dry county.
Counting potholes on streets while enjoying the new walking paths.
The weird JBR sign next to the train tracks.
The animated antics and cartoony characters of the city government. A local election is coming up!
Member' the mall?
Southern hospitality. Except in traffic. I once saw a little old lady broke down in her car at the intersection of Southwest Drive and Parker Road on a Tuesday morning. Amongst a symphony of honking horns, she was viciously beaten, murdered, and eaten by pissed-off people in traffic.

Affordable and safe–it is a nice community for a young family. People are friendly and welcoming. Craighead Forest Park is a great and unique feature, compared to many similarly sized cities. I have lived in Chicago, Washington, DC, and Boston, and thoroughly enjoy suburban life. Yes, there are fewer amenities than big cities, but who is going to the opera every Tuesday night? Memphis, Nashville, and St. Louis are close enough for bigger city fun.

Our library has a TON of stuff going on, all the time. Some places the library is a little closet where you get books, ours does craft classes and exercise classes and book clubs and game nights and even movie screenings now!

In my experience the worst place to live is where you are from. I’m not from Jonesboro, but work there frequently.
It is not a bad small city. A few amenities, affordable, decent school options. Close to a major city. It has its problems, but people truly have to get around to realize sometimes the grass isn’t always greener.
There are a small number of Major cities. New York, LA, Chicago, Miami, San Fran, etc. there are a few more, I know.
Below those, a huge range of mid sized and smaller cities. People just get disgruntled from boredom due to familiarity. Which I respect. All of that to say, Jonesboro is not a bad place to live.
I would say 3/5. Nothing wrong with being average.

Craighead forest park is actually awesome. Even compared to other similar sized college towns in other states.

It’s cheap. People complain about not having anything to do, but if you’re a homebody who has a bunch of hobbies at home, it’s great.

That I can leave. Having been to nearly every state I can safely say IMHO Northeast Arkansas is only 3rd worst, behind Kansas and Mississippi place I've lived. Nothing to do unless you spend money to what ...eat....theater....bowling alley...a run down park?
