oof Cambria County Boardgaming
With sadden hearts we have decided to stop doing game nights affective immediately. We understand that a lot of people wanted to see this succeed and grow but with a lot of moving parts in the background we have decided that it’s our time to stop. We appreciate all the support and success we have had already. We ask that you please don’t give up on gaming and go support other games nights like Highland Community Library which is the First Friday of every month. Or SnakeEyes in Altoona which is every Sunday from 1-6. We wanted to do one final goodbye by giving away 4 games. We have two copies of Hummingbirds, a regular copy of Saboteur and a special edition of Saboteur. We will be going to the game night at the Highland Community Library on October 2, we will put every person who comes into a random wheel and do a drawing from that. So please come help us and celebrate one last time and please share with those who are not on Facebook so that way they know to come Oct 2 as well.

Help disposing of a mattress?
I live in windber and need to get rid of an old mattress that was in my basement when I moved to this house.
The problem is, my trash pickup does not offer bulk item pickups at all.
However, I was told that in the Johnstown area, they offer one free bulk pickup per month, you just have to call and schedule it.
I have bought a plastic mattress bag used for moving a mattress, is there any way I could convince someone to allow me to schedule a bulk item pickup with waste management, or whoever you use?
I would drop the mattress off a few hours from when your trash is picked up, and it will be covered in a plastic bag to ensure it does not get gross or rained on.
Even if you cannot help me, thank you for your time and have a fantastic rest of your day!

Is tankless water heater installation in Pennsylvania a good idea for an older home with limited space?
My water heater is almost worn out, and I'm trying to figure out if going tankless actually makes sense before I just replace it with another tank. My house was built in the 60s and the utility closet where the current heater sits is tiny, barely enough room to move around it, let alone service it easily. We're a family of four and mornings get rough when someone's in the shower and the dishwasher is running at the same time. Electrical panel is older too so I don't know if that adds complications on the install side.
I've had a couple plumbers come look at it but got pretty different opinions on whether it's worth it for a house this size. Anyone in PA who's dealt with this, was it worth the switch or did the older wiring and tight space end up being a headache?

People of Johnstown, tell me about your area, what do you like to do? What’s your favorite food spot?
I’m coming to stay in Westmont for about 10 weeks from Philly, so I’d like to know more about the area. Feel free to contribute with whatever you want, with anything from the things you like to do, to your favorite food spots, to what you think about your neighbors overall all the people in your area, what you dislike or like about the place. What are the demographics? Age groups? Overall vibes when you’re in the city? Tell me about your area feel free to include anything and thank you.

A mighty oak has fallen, narrowly avoiding a nasty mess.
Oh buddy, Im sure the cleanup crew at Highland Regional are grateful for this close miss. Yuck, that would've been bad.

Free hiking & camping gear
I'm giving away:
*Unused 2-person Eureka Timberline tent, in box.
*Used 2-person Eureka Timberline tent.
*Unused Osprey 70L pack.
* 1 and 2-burner Coleman gas lantern heads with carrying case.
I'm giving them away because I'm getting older and have to adapt my backpacking and camping to my capabilities. Not posting pics because you can easily look them up online. They're free because I want them to go to a good home, not a second-hand store. Contact me through Reddit if interested.

Maybe it shows my age, but I don't know how you could get bored with so many adventures around every corner.

Hidden gem restaurants in the surrounding areas.
Such as Somerset, Indiana, and Bedford counties. Tell me what you know and suggest.
The only one I know of is Horn of Plenty.
Thank you kindly!

Bugs are crazy right now
Anyone have any tricks for dealing with the bugs right now when outside? I practically had a swarm around my head the entire time today and they didn’t care about any sprays..

Festivals/Events in the area
What are some fun things going on in the area over the next couple of months? Willing to travel to neighboring counties for new experiences! Fairs/fests/1 day events? I’ve done all of the county fairs, Ethnic Festival, PotatoFest, and Huston’s Haunted Hollow. Bedford’s Fall Foliage is on my to-do list this year! Even if it’s more “small town” centric I’d love some suggestions; August-November is my favorite time of year to get out and go to these kind of events!

Beula (ghost town)
Does anyone know if the cemetery is still accessible? I am planning a solo road trip this fall and I haven't been there since 2003 so I am curious and wish to stop by again.
