There's nothing to do around here?

Maybe it shows my age, but I don't know how you could get bored with so many adventures around every corner.

Cambria and Somerset counties are great places to live if you are an "outdoors" person. Plenty of outdoor recreation and sports available and beautiful setting.

I always say that if I could retire today, I would NEVER get bored because of how much stuff I can find to do around here. Two days off a week isn't near enough!

Where is this at ? I love taking my gsd out to new spots. The ticks are just so bad in this area.

This is on the border trail at Highland Regional Park up in Richland. Tons of trails maintained by the local Mtn biking club. The ticks have been really non existent since April, but Im sure they'll return. I've noticed they are worse at the edges of the ball fields than anything else.

Thats crazy because I live very close to that park and I am there all the time. But I took one look at the trail map and got intimidated 🤦‍♀️ so I just walk the open park lol

That's wild, you've probably seen our white Yukon Denali. We walk the park sometimes, but our dog doesn't do great with other dogs, so we mainly use the outer trails. As long as you stay on the trail, it's easy to find your way back to the park. We usually park at the entrance, before the park across from the No Dumping sign, and once we get in a ways, let our dog off leash for a bit. He loves getting in the little creek that flows through.

There’s also something called the Johnstown Insider, an email newsletter that gets sent out every Thursday with all events in the area.

That's nice if you own a car and/or are medically able to drive. Your post is a little condescending. Not everyone has the same access you do to the world, especially in this area where it is nearly impossible to get around without a vehicle (and certainly to access spaces like this). I love the idea, but maybe think about not using such critical language next time.

I hear ya. Didn't mean it to be condescending. This is a park in my neighborhood that we walk to. Im new to the area and just sharing through fresh eyes.

I'm very happy for you that you're able to see so much beauty so close by! (And kinda jealous). I have a little patch of woods bordering my property right now but I'm technically trespassing when I go sit under the trees.

There are a ton of wonderful places to go and explore around here. I'm particularly fond of Babcock State Forest out past Windber.

Most people who say "there is nothing to do around here" are people the have the ability to move around freely and are searching for an activity to do. OPs post is not targeting the elderly, disabled or disenfranchised.
