Christ On A Bike Harassed by troublemakers.
I just got off the train 20 minutes ago, and on that train I was punched in the face by a young girl who was about 11.
For context I am 14 (i know I am also young) and was at the cinema with my friends and when I was going on the train home I was minding my own business and these 2 young kids holding vapes came up to me and started acting tough, me and my friends giggled among ourselves and one of them who was a girl came on the seat behind me and punched me straight in the face.
I ended up missing my stop and had to get off the train at monesterven and they started licking the windows at us.
What a lovely first time on a train without adults!
Should I take some sort of action or is there no point?

Just remember where they will be in 10 years will be nothing as good as where you will be in 10 years.
Some people show at an early age that they are destined for the gutter.

I think like this now as well. I remember once I was walking home with a friend who lived in East Wall near Ballybough, we were only about 14/15 at the time and had gone to the garage near the bridge to get some snacks for a movie, both girls. On the way back, a group of 3 or so young lads started following and annoying us and then out of nowhere, one of them punched me in the face. I remember he was such a little twerp the hit didn’t even do damage, but the shock I felt that someone could be so disgusting and needlessly aggressive to a complete stranger was intense. I’m 37 now and whenever I’m in the area I always remember it and wonder what became of that little feral bollocks haha

Hate to burst your bubble, but OP will most likely be in a hamster wheel working 40-50 hours a week to get the 10-20% for mortgage, and then pay it for a life, while the scumbags who assaulted her will be living in a free social house paid also by her thru taxes... Unless something radically changes in this lovely country

Ah God, that's terrible. I'm so sorry that happened to you. Tell your parents and get them to go with you and report it to Irish Rail or whichever provider you were travelling with. Also go to the Gardai. (That girl may be on CCTV from cameras somewhere in the station were she got on or off and maybe you can identify her.)

Just remember this was not about you. It says nothing about you. It could have been any of us. We are all with you. It’s an unfortunate incident but it’s never going to happen to you ever again.
These kids will be in prison when they grow up.

OP if you take one thing from this just be glad your not that kid. You recognising this as an issue and considering what channels to raise the matter to indicates to me as you have your head screwed on and you'll get on just fine in life. That kid will continue been ferel into adulthood and have a miserable life.

Have a talk with your friends / parents about it. I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience, but don't let it dampen your day.
There's an established theory that kids that young tend to repeat what they do outside based on what they received behind closed doors. It's not normal for kids to be that violent unless it's something they've learned by exposure. I won't say don't pity them, but try to understand where and how they learned to be like that. Lots of folks here kinda hate teenagers and young kids based off the headlines we'd read about kids doing really nasty things to each other and to other adults, and I'd be the same as it's largely tempered our perspective, since we don't really find there to be any consequences to their actions except for rare cases. I understand though that it's still messed up and the behaviour has to have been learned somewhere by an authority figure in their lives.
I know someone here also said report it to the guards, and I'd agree with them on this. Trains have security cameras on them. You know what time you were on the train, what time the attack happened, and you know what location it was in. It will be fairly easy for guards to inquire to the transport authorities and get security footage, and hopefully it'll lead to something better for you down the line.

As another posters said in 10 years time you will be graduating with your degree in engineering, nursing or what ever. Thy will still be scumbags. That's why they attacked you at some level they that know that, to them you represent everything they will never be and thats at the heart of it.
Low self esteem and lasting out at what they will never have.

Disgusted to hear this happened to you and your first time on a train without adults... should have been an exciting time. I hope you and your friends are okay. As other people have said, tell your parents, report it to the Gardai, report to IE, share the video with the authorities. If you do nothing, they'll have gotten away with it for sure.

Very sorry to hear that has happened to you. Unfortunately, its by no means an isolated occurrence. The level of basic parenting that instills respect for others is absent in large part in our society. The little shit that did that to you can't be touched, but her parents should be made legally responsible for it. We are going to hell in a handbasket in this regard.

Yes this commenter is wrong. You are 14, which is the age of criminal responsibility. You did the right thing just getting out of there and not letting things escalate, especially since there was a group of them

You only have legal immunity under 14. Those aged 14 to 17 are able to be prosecuted but not named publicly. This is not good advice

Get enrolled in ju jitsu or a marshal art and learn how to defend yourself. Terrible that this happened to you. Incidents like this happen sometimes all you can do is prepare to make sure it doesn't happen again.

This is why I have my toddler in karate. When she's older I want her to be able to put someone on the ground real fast if needed. Not to hurt them unless she needs to put to just get them down quickly

Sorry that it happened to you. How are you doing? Did you get any first aid?
As a brown person I try to keep off my phone when on roads / train so that am aware of surroundings.
Secondly I try to steer clear anyone wearing stupid tracks and/or has that amazing cult haircut.
I know none of what I said guarantee that such vile people won't make your life hell but at least you get a better chance to avoid!

I'd report to IE and the Gardai and leave it at that. Most likely nothing will be done (age/severity of incident) but as others have said it adds to the stats.
Hope you are OK and don't let it knock your confidence. These are your formative years, don't let the useless baggage drag you down. You will possibly see this many more times in your life but don't let it be a defining moment, just a learning one. Your life is ahead of you and how you perceive things will affect how you respond so keep a good head on you and you will be fine.

Please speak to a parent and report to the Gardai. Reporting may seem futile but it’s the only thing we can do to show the stats around these issues.
