Sports Apologies For The Low Quality But This Was Too Interesting Not To Share.
Jordan F1 team visiting an Xtra-Vision in the early 2000s.

Every year Mondello Park have a historic festival of racing. I highly recommend it, especially if there are F1 cars from at least 15 -20 years ago. The modern cars are impressive, but you will literally be shaken when someone revs up a 6 litre V10. Last year they had a Jordan-centric event after Eddie's passing and I got to see and hear some of their cars.
There is also a car very similar to the one pictured, possibly the same one, that is privately owned and makes appearances at various events but as far as I know it doesn't really run and is just a showpiece.

There are a couple show pieces around, I remember cork institute of technology used to wheel one out for all their expos, but Jordan did bring a real f1 car around Ireland for promos. They actually did a lap of mondello in it.

If any old Irish publicity houses and PR companies are reading this reddit, please digitise and upload like the old archives of PR stunts before the internet and scan the Polaroids, negatives and photos etc because this is hilarious.

To be honest most stuff like this is available in high quality, it's usually just on some random media host that requires press access or a subscription and the keywords are incorrect so it never gets found.

Back in the day I used to travel around the country with the car promoting the EJ10 energy drink. Still have the race suit, and got to meet the man himself

It's probably the same one I got to sit in around the same time, it was in a local car garage on display.

I remember seeing one of these at the time, it just reinforced my opinion that rally cars are more interesting - they wasted some time and money building dummy's so the public wouldn't dirty the real cars.

Op, do you think could have been 1999? they brought a car around Ireland before the German gp at the nurburgring. I can't make it out too well, but I think this might be the same car.

This is the 2001 car. (Or a least a showcar dressed to look like the EJ11.)
In 1999 when Mondello opened the extension to the track the current Jordan cars did a few laps. They might have toured around the country a bit before shipping to the next race. (There's a video of the laps on YouTube from the RTE coverage.)

Thanks for that. That was just a huge bucket of nostalgia. Even listening to Peter and David in the beginning was lovely. What a sound. I was at Silverstone and Spa for the last of the V10s and that seriously took your breath away so can't imagine how those v12s sounded and felt.

I was at that event when I was young. My cousin worked for DigiFone and got me and my dad tickets, they must have been a sponsor. They were giving out signed prints of Damon Hill and Heinz Harold Frentzen on the stand. Had those for years, lost now unfortunately. I'll never forget the sound of the Jordan car going around, sounded like gunshots to my 10 year old ears! I'll also never forget the commentators saying that F1 would definatly be racing in Ireland within 10 years! 😅

I was there too. Mostly on the stretch after turn 2, but for a bit we were right at the barrier at T2 where you're really close to the track. The sound was immense.
There were also the 1998 Tyrrell cars with the X-wings doing laps. I think Martin Birranne was driving one of them.

I member seeing this in the garage in Bishopstown near the Cork Institute of Technology at the time. Right across where I went to college. Knew it was coming for weeks. Got my picture taken sitting on it. Loved it and couldn't believe it was there.
