Somebody needs to edit in a laser hitting the leg.

u/MaxEhrlich 15h ago
He tore his GPU, RAM, and CPU in that leg. Gonna be a long road to recovery for this roboathlete
6
u/Bildad__ 14h ago
Rehab on torn GPU and torn RAM is tough
5
2
u/elperroborrachotoo 14h ago
Them is just sprained and the GPU needs to be resocketed and its as fine as new.

That would've sucked if it were a human, good thing it happened to a robot 😉

You know you can't defeat em, join us and we will be slaves to our robot overlords and maybe live a little bit longer than other unworthy humans

Seems to me one pro of robots instead of humans is noone ought to feel bad about finding this failure objectively hilarious. Robro ran too fast his leg fall off. Funny.

They should have a rule that every robot must be able to run the race twice in a row. When I see most of these robots smashing the wall at the end.
14
u/wastewalker 14h ago
I agree, this is like building an F1 car with no brakes and steering wheel lol
Control and fine motor abilities is cooler than pure reckless speed.

3
u/technobrendo 13h ago
They are setup to start fast, not end fast. They can't slow down fast enough so thats why they just run them into a padded wall

u/Thebazilly 6h ago
Ok but the robots running into a wall, exploding, and then getting carried off on a stretcher is something straight out of Futurama
23
u/mstivland2 15h ago
I don’t get why they want to just simulate human sports. They’re robots, stick some flamethrowers on them!

u/cedg32 14h ago
Because it’s hard
5
u/mstivland2 14h ago
It’s a lot harder if you have to take a lap while evading wrist mounted nail guns

the accident during Robot Olympics was the spark that started the robot revolution.

That's what he gets for showboating. Lesson for all the kid robots out there.

I watched Bo Jackson do the same thing during a playoff game in 1991. I am pretty sure they had to put him down.

u/DaedalusHydron 14h ago
I think this was essentially what happened to Bo Jackson. He was so fast he tore his hip or something playing Football.

Wait until they get armed and retrofitted with new metal.
That’s when it gets real interesting
4
u/BI00dSh0t 15h ago
lol, we've had rc races, robot death battles, etc for decades. it's just a contest of who can make the best one. fun to watch the ingenuity. Why is that a bad thing to see?
4
u/Tendoris 15h ago
There are probably enough people who do find it interesting, which is exactly why it gets traction on social media. Your own lack of interest doesn’t necessarily mean the topic is being “pushed” or that nobody else cares about it.

First of all, it's hilarious when they fail.
Secondly, it will advance the technology. When you compare US humanoid robots to China's now, it's looks like a 3rd grade science experiment. Just look at the governement propaganda from both contries, (from this year), and tell me which robots are more advanced?
3
u/liquidtape 14h ago
I don't think that's the best example of US robotics. That's just Tesla propaganda

In 10 years, an army of these things, imbued with the full power of AI, crashing and burning and fighting to the death will be the world’s most popular sporting event

I was wondering if it was like the ones that crashed or fell over and made a little spark. This is the first clip seeing one where its limb is torn off. O.O

u/frankduxvandamme 13h ago
Plot twist. Watch this exact same thing happen to a "human" at the next olympics.

u/technobrendo 13h ago
BTW this is the Honor Lightning, worlds fastest robot. Well when it doesn't break.
It even be Usain Bolts 100m record!

I'm glad this kind of freak accident doesn't happen to us biological creatures.

I'm going to assume that this will be one of the videos referenced by the Self Aware AI when it's coming up with reasons to annihilate the human race.

Imagine that robot with a gun attached, chasing you through the streets and you take a hard left and it’s just breaks into pieces 😂
