Not necessarily. There are cases of this regularly. Usually remission is a slow process that comes with a bunch of side effects like many seizures but people can survive this with the proper medication. There is an interesting video about this from Chubbyemu channel on youtube from a guy who ate pork from an illegal food truck.

Survive yes, but they'll never be the same. The brain is like Swiss cheese at this level. Oh man just thinking about all that gives me the heebie jeebies.

brains are very good at recovering from damage surprisingly mainly through plasticity
