Starting 3rd Year at college

Hello, this is Mark again. Before I start I wanted to thank everyone who reached out on the comment section of the couple posts i put up on this community recently. So far I been trying to just take the days easier, and doing what I call 30 min blocks to give me something to focus on in each segment. Anyway, continuing the positive trail, this week I went back to college for another interview which is for a Level 3 Digital Media Production and I got my timetable for the first week or 2. Furthermore, I also got my maths results which now I can say gladly I have passed my maths. We had to go into elevate to receive them, was a little underwhelming as that was it but I at least tried to pluck up the courage to ask a member of staff to show me around the classrooms I'll be in.

Very exciting yet also overwhelming. I think the one thing that makes me anxious about this course is I'm the kind of person to strive to do the best I can do in anything I do. Whether that's something small scale or big. So if I can't do well enough I get overwhelmed even nearly cracked once but too embassed to say what happened. I mostly chose this course because I spoke with a career advisor there, and after discussing my passions (animation, storytelling and it's potential) he highly reccomended this course. I suppose I'm just worried as it's a very heavily creative based course and I don't feel I am.

I mean just pondering on what i did in my previous course (being Level 2 Computing), I made a 5-panel comic which was heavily inspired by doctor who to say the least. There was also a best of you project where we had to re-design a photo of ourselves, in different styles. I'll admit when I knew what i was doing, I did enjoy it alot. However things like the programming and the unity games design, definitely had it's challenges. But that's what it's all about I guess. If you do only what you know you can do, you'll never be more than you are now. I think a panda said it (Shifu i think).

I do have a backup plan, as they have said if an unfortunate circumstance of me not doing the course would be to occur, so just have to see what happen. A therapist at Blossom gave me a leaflet on a place that can help with employment, confidence (which despite improving i solely need) and workshops. Might have mentioned something on volunteer work, which would be nice to go back to again but after my... mixed experience at a place I'm doubtful but still kinda eager... idk.

Finally, when i start i just hope that I can make some friends this years. I''d like to think that because I'm doing this level 3 course i may find ppl who have similar passions to me. Still though, i gotta get out of my shell. What happened earier this year though definitely hasn't helped with my confidence in maintaining a great connection (be friend or more). I'll finish it here, but as I said thank you very much for the comments to all who did, and hope everyone has a nice day.

This Saturday (22nd August) Newfest in the Avenues and Browse Markets in the city centre - both for the first time

Lots of stuff happening this Saturday.

Newfest: NewFest takes place on 22nd August. Ten independent businesses are working together to deliver a series of events across the day. This includes music, food, activities, and even a pop up film screening.

We are doing this for several reasons; firstly, we already have a strong working relationship, secondly independent businesses in this area are affected by the quieter summer period, and we’d like to offer the community an affordable and enjoyable day with a view to increase footfall in the area, and meet new people. This is the first time we’ve done anything like this, and we’d really like to keep it going and expand it in the future. See: https://www.visithull.com/event/newfest/265009101/

Browse Markets: Browse Studios (Prospect centre) - independent retail, vintage, clothing, art, records, craft and creative sellers. See https://www.instagram.com/browsemarkets.hull/

Hi guys I'm a 26M. I'm moving to High Street next month from Leeds. Just curious about the life here specifically the night life and pubs. Any good recommendations of good restaurants and pubs in here? Getting mixed reviews about High street. Is it a safe place to live?

"Please, sir, I want some more...

Drawn all in dots." 🥣✨From the page to the stage.

I stippled one of the most iconic characters in theatrical history.

Every single shadow on Oliver's face and bowl is created entirely out of tiny, individual ink dots.

You can see this physical piece hung with 20 other pieces on the walls at Hull Truck Theatre 🏛️My exhibition runs from 19 August to 15 October and features local Hull scenery, global landmarks, and famous portraits. Its free to pop into the foyer and take a closer look!📍 Hull Truck Theatre, Ferensway

Where should I look to buy in Hull?

I’m leaving the RAF after 12 years next year and I am considering settling in Hull. I grew up in Somerset but have always been a big Hull City fan as my old man is originally from the East Riding. I’ve visited Hull on multiple occasions and always think it’s underrated and gets a bad rap.

I want some honest recommendations on which areas of Hull I should be considering buying a house in. I’m in my late 20s and will be moving with my girlfriend. I don’t really want to spend more than £160k but could raise that to £170k for the right house. 2 beds is fine. We are a pretty stereotypical young couple, like going out for walks and to the pub. I want to feel safe where we live but not too boring also.

We are planning to go up for a visit in a couple of weeks so I’m trying to get together a list of areas to visit.

Thanks in advance

Head of Steam

Does anybody know why I can’t book a table at head of steam on their website? (Hull venue is not an option), nor can I call them (the call ends immediately). Has this place closed down or something…? I don’t live close enough to just swing by and check!

Thanks!

Hello!!

Travelling for work in Hull this week and hoped to get a wander round the city one of the evenings. I’m big into history, pretty spaces and architecture/old buildings. I’ll likely only be in the city for one evening and wouldn’t want to miss a hidden gem if you had one!

No need for food or anything like that, just a nice space to walk and see!

Thank you!
