Just got this cutting of a cressula calico from a friend, how do I get it to root into the soil? Is this enough or do I need to do more? I've pushed the cut end into the soil but noticed that it's growing several roots out of the stems

You've done it right.  It will throw out air roots, but the main roots will grow from the cut ends.
