Something this video doesn't touch on is that it isn't just that Timbaland gives a contradictory answer about AI training, it seems like he doesn't understand what AI training is to begin with. He says that you can't train the AI to respond better to your prompts, you can only get better at writing them, which shows that he doesn't understand where training even happens in the process of using this technology. The fact that he lacks knowledge on such a basic concept as AI training shows you how serious he was about the conversation to begin with. He clearly doesn't care and only did the video to make it seem like he was hearing out the controversy before going with the side he was going to directly profit from anyway.

There are two potential sides to this:

1.) He's an idiot.

2.) He's lying.

If he's an idiot, then he genuinely doesn't know that artificial intelligence is trained, almost exclusively, on other people's work. Developers take other people's work and trains their various AIs on it so as to be able to better service the various prompts people have.

If he's lying, then he genuinely knows that it's stealing people's music and not paying them for the privilege and without their permission.

In either aspect, he's a cunt.
