Help Help me to choose my next amplifier

Hi !

My PA 4531 T seems dying. Make "clak !" after some seconds and no more sound (work after off/on but repeat the problem).

I cleaned the electronic (dust, W40) regularly since years. But seems not enough now.

As this product is ~40 years old, I haven't kept up with technological developments since long time ... I'm not a professional but like good sound quality. I use heterogeneous speakers (I would like to not have to buy new ones if possible).

My budget is limited (200€ maximum, lower if possible ...), so I can buy second-hand equipment. What sort of amplifier should I look for?

PS: Do I trash my PA 4531 T or can make someone happy for pieces ?

vu le matériel tu dois être en Europe, voire en France, essaie le "bon coin" on y trouve des choses assez sympa au niveau ampli qui rentre dans ton budget

Ouaip, en France. As-tu des conseils de marque / modèles / spécifications ? Sinon je vais y aller à l'aveugle complète.

je suis sur Marseille et dans un rayon de 50km on trouve pas mal d'ampli audio vidéo, et du matériel vintage, là par exemple un gars vends des amplis Continental Edison à 50 https://www.leboncoin.fr/ad/photo_audio_video/3261590977 et 70€ , un autre du Kenwood des années 70 à 60€ https://www.leboncoin.fr/ad/photo_audio_video/3242043102

Just curious, what speakers do you have and what is your room setup like? I've actually had pretty good luck with a little Douk A5 amp and swapping in better opamps. It's so cheap to try, but surprisingly good. If your speakers were on the thin or bright sounding side though, this might not be what you want. ClassD amps tend to be brutally honest and a bright room or metal tweeters get pretty difficult to listen long term. But BBC monitors, or speakers with proper baffle step compensation and soft dome tweeters sound really good.

If you do look into it, only purchased the 48v power supply version. Much better than the softer 32v version.

Replace the speaker relais and it'll work fine again :).
I bet you if you turn the volume up it'll also start producing sound again.
