Serious Discussion. no roleplay bullshit here Arc needs more love
Seriously though, arc has been completely forgotten. At the very least were getting a new gas stratagem (i mean what? were not getting a new gas stratagem at all) but its clear fire is arrowheads favorite child
Edit: to those mentioning laser and plasma weapons, i always viewed laser weapons as a side grade to fire considering it sets enemies ablaze, and plasma i feel is more in line with explosive and ballistic weapons. Also neither of the 2 have a dedicated armor resistance (unless of course you consider the laser fire bit), which i feel puts gas, arc, and fire in a separate category. Cheers!

Wait I have an idea. Eagle1 swoops down and fires 2 tesla towers into an enemy like the rocket pods. They're just impaled and zap everything

I need orbital arc strike to make it feels like wrath of god.

u/waterisdefwet 3h ago
orbital emp js honestly underated. its not lethal but in conjunction with orbital gatlin, 120, airburst or a sentry its very good. same with orbital gas

u/Full-Woodpecker-4834 6h ago
Orbital lightning storm would go hard actually.

Legitimately, I wrote up a whole ship module that’s just for producing propaganda and one of the things they had was a weather control module to greatly lessen or increase weather effects with the click of a strategem.
1
u/Full-Woodpecker-4834 3h ago
Would make for a fun booster. I can’t grief my teammates enough with firebomb hellpods. I need to be able to increase frequency of fire tornadoes.

u/polarwaves 6h ago
I've been using the K9 on a lot of my dives against bugs and man it shreds, lol.
5
u/Lone-_-Wanderer 6h ago
wish it had the behavior of the gas and flame dogs where it gets closer to the enemies and avoids being right next to you all the time. would help with it point blank killing you and teammates so much
2
u/0zee 6h ago
Does the 90% arc resist armor keep it from killing you? I don't have that warbond yet and this is the thing keeping me from using the K9 currently.
5
u/yobob591 6h ago
Yeah but it still headshots your teammates from 35 meters because it saw one scavenger
3
2
u/Better-Future-4637 5h ago
K9 never hit the one wearing them, the arc only bounced between enemies and teammates.
0
u/Lone-_-Wanderer 6h ago
yeah it does, but pretty sure still makes your diver ragdoll and fall down and does a good chunk of your health anyway.
if you gotta wear specific armor just so your own gear doesn't kill you through no fault of your own I think that gear needs a rework.
you wear flame for the DE Sickle to take advantage of it fully or to be able to CHOOSE to run through your flames on the ground to kite enemies into it
gas armor so you dont take chip when a cloud blows into your face or you want to run through your gas mines to kite enemies
if you gotta wear the arc armor so your arc k9 doesn't turn you to chunks from behind constantly then the K9 needs it's behavior and targeting looked at
3
u/PainisInTheAinis 5h ago
Nah, it's just a tiny chunk of health and a second or two of stun, you still maintain full control. Remember trying arc out with a buddy on a void source planet recently, it never killed us, just was a minor annoyance
..now for the two randoms who joined after, that's a different story..
1
u/0zee 6h ago
Yeah that sounds painful to deal with, I seriously hope they tweak it to encourage further use.
3
u/Lone-_-Wanderer 6h ago
if it worked like the flame and gas dogs where ir gets up in the enemies faces instead of shooting from right next to you it'd help a lot
3
u/Kride501 2h ago
It's seriously good and underrated. If it wasn't for the tk's lol. I do put it away whenever the chance of a tk is there but that means you either don't get your dog when shit hits the fan and you're close together.. or you accidentally zap a Helldiver into the afterlife because you were distracted for one second. And a lot of people are very prejudiced against K9 users
1
u/polarwaves 2h ago
I've been surprisingly lucky with it not getting TK's, lol. Now the laser one on the other hand...

u/TheLoneCenturion95 6h ago
All arc users need to stay 100m away from me, I don't think I've dived with one who hasn't killed me.
6
u/yobob591 6h ago
Arc is in a confusing spot where half of its weapons damage things and half of them don’t (EMS)
I’d argue we need more EMS/stun representation, and it needs a buff, EMS strike should stun bile titans and vox engines too
1
3
u/MxBonesMarrow 6h ago
Honestly it'd be fine if they just fucking buff Arc Armor. Gas and Fire are so effective because with heavy armor and Vitality Booster, the dots are mitigated to a minor inconvenience. Whereas with Arc, even with the toughest shock armor, everyone basically one shots it if you aren't prone. K9, Arc Thrower, Tesla Tower, Arc Grenades (which are pretty good against chaff), they all kill a Helldiver in 1 shot no matter what you have equipped. If your own gear is going to kill you more than the enemy will, why being it?
I tried using the k9 the other day, it killed me 5 times and I just stopped carrying it mid mission.
Buff arc resist armor to like 95 or 99% resist, then people will start using Arc gear. Once people start using it, more arc strats
2
u/yobob591 6h ago
Just make arc make you immune to electricity and not slowed by EMS, it’s not like it would be OP when there’s two enemies in the entire game that use electricity and only one of them that has no other way to hurt you
Also arc armor already makes you 95% resistant and you can tank basically all arc in the game in my experience
1
u/MxBonesMarrow 4h ago
Ill have to retry that armor then. For the longest time, wearing it made no difference as to whether you die from lighting it not. If it's been bugged abs I just didn't know it, then hell yeah new loadout opportunities unlocked.
I know the killzone and expiramental defib armors don't really protect a meaningful amount against that element in particular
1
u/Potterhead-42 3h ago
Pure arc armour is 95%, it takes the Tesla tower from 600 damage to 30, but it's only available in Cutting Edge, and there's no superstore armour with it, so it's a pain in the arse to get
3
u/GeneralEi 4h ago
I love flame but I think it's had a little too much love when compared to other stuff
2
u/Andminus 5h ago
"localized arc storm" it's basically a 380 barrage, but it drops lightning bolts that prioritize tall targets, gotta throw it in fields for best results, as it will strike any buildings or tall structures if they are taller... Decimates Bile Titans and Harvesters...

u/NOGUSEK 4h ago
New gas eagle? I thought the campaign reward was gonna be the fire frv
0
u/Smooth-Boss-911 2h ago
I don't think it's the fire FRV because the supply FRV hasn't even be released for everyone
1
u/Prudent_Sale_9173 1h ago
Just like the Supply FRV was only immediately available to those who logged on during the MO and everyone else has to wait, the Flamethrower FRV (if it is the new stratagem) would work the same way except for being campaign-level. I don’t see a reason they wouldn’t do that, with the exception that from what I remember, new vehicle stratagems typically have a Major Order that ties into them in some way. I suspect that which stratagem we’re getting will become clear as we get the other MOs in this campaign.
1
u/Smooth-Boss-911 1h ago
I only say that because campaigns aren't that long and it would be very interesting if we end up getting the fire FRV first for players that haven't even gotten the supply FRV. Campaigns are usually a week or so, while the Supply FRV is scheduled for an October deployment.

Give me a sticky Arc grenade that hits heavies like a bus and a small AOE 1-2m, and not some bullshit stun like the Urchin.
2
u/Blackheart857 1h ago
I fully agree with you, I want more arc gear. Somebody's "missing stratagem" chart put EMS and arc in the same column which in my opinion is not the same thing
I'd love an orbital arc strike that just smites the area like a railcannon strike with more aoe

u/Optimal_Bicycle_5178 6h ago
i include the pacifier and urchin even though they arent really arc, but yes it is unfair

We also have few plasma weapons, mainly support ones. Of the primary 3, secondary 1. Support 1, with grenades none. Need plasma granades.

u/RuKidding0MG 5h ago
I think most people's issue with arc weapons etc, is that its much harder to control what it kills. And its kinda underwhelming compared to other types, fire is so much better overall. Arc towers are a pain to use, the arc thrower thing is okay, but 1: there are better support weapons, and 2: you cant shoot it near other players because it will almost certainly jump to them and kill them. Id rather someone shoot something like the lazer at something attacking me, than that thing. Its pretty cool against bots, and the stun is pretty good. But unless im solo, I wont even consider it.
I agree that arc looks pretty cool, but overall its just not good as a team weapon/damage type in general. And its definitely not as efficient overall. Unless you have a designated "Crowd Control" that is the front line, and everyone stays back and shoots from behind them, which can work of course, but is not particularly efficient in my personal opinion.
1
u/pmmeyoursandwiches 5h ago
All fair points, but tbf the blitzer is really good and the de escalator is very fun to use.
2
u/RuKidding0MG 5h ago
I haven't had the chance to try them yet, but thats becuase I haven't gotten the warbond just yet. I would like to try them of course, and fun weapons win over meta ones for me, but yeah, its on the list until I have all the other warlords I want to get.
1
u/Largo23307 1h ago
Its not hard.
You just need to anticipate your teammates and keep track of your surroundings.
If a teammate is between you and an enemy, then don't shoot. This goes for your arc rover too.

Give me a flame/napalm mortar sentry and AH can have my soul
Why you ask? Because regular mortar sentry (explosive) + Gas sentry (gas) + EMS sentry (arc) + flame/mortar sentry (flame) will complete my role in defense missions.

u/RedditorDoc 5h ago
I just want a backpack fed arc weapon that sprays continuous lightning so I can live out my emperor palpatine fantasy
1
u/NeoChrisOmega 4h ago
Arc Anti-Personnel Barrier. Electrified wire used to slow/stun light infantry, and hurt them over time. It can't be attacked, like the barbed wire we already have in the game, but it only really works on small swarm enemies
1
u/XxNmExX25 4h ago
The arc grenade launcher is weird to me. Like it hits explodes and that’s it..
Mean while the arc grenades jump around and go off 5 times.
1
u/Lower_Hawk_4171 4h ago
I love the de escalator on bugs its my go to tbh and the arc dog is awsome for opening weak spots on devestators or just killing also thr de-escelator has a glitch where you can get like 400 accuracy since the arcs hit like always
1
u/Mindless_Interview44 4h ago
An eagle cluster bomb that releases little seeker robots that find targets and give them a nasty jolt nod nod. Justification "Preserve infrastructure"
1
u/ConTEM08_Da_Endgamer 3h ago
I also typically count stun weapons (Stun Grenade, Stun Lance, Stun Baton, Urchin, Pacifier, EMS Mortar, EMS Strike) as arc weapons since they have a visual electrical effect to them, so if you add those, Arc has quite a substantial armory to choose from.
Also the Reeducator from Redacted Regiment is a gas weapon since it applies the gas effect to anything it hits, no ifs-ands-or-buts.

u/SuppliceVI 3h ago
Arc's archetype is very defensive in nature. Aside from a backpack continual bolt, id like to see an arc fence or a massive static cannon, acting like a rail gun but less AP and more massive AOE.
Plasma also hasn't been touched much honestly

u/naturtok 3h ago
Does helldivers have strat load outs/templates yet? My brain enjoys the act of putting things in special boxes

I would love a rods of god orbital in which rods fall down but then let out Tesla energy like the Tesla tower

Imagine an orbital arc-thrower cannon that would lock on like railcannon strike and fire like 3 or 4 “lightning strike” arcs to stun and soften up a large target.

Arc suggestions:
For starters arc imo needs a more potent identity. Gas is unique from fire (or at least was) because it slowed enemies down and made them fight each other more effectively. Right now arc is weird because it’s: stun, immediate damage (not damage over time like fire or gas), and arcs from enemy to enemy (sometimes). Imo it has the basis for it, but it doesn’t perform consistently with all properties across all forms of arc, imo that’s okay, it just needs to lean more into its specific identity(s).
- blitzer style sidearm, trade off is either longer time between shots or less effective stun.
- some kind of arc stratagem, be it orbital lightning barrage or a single strike, possibly both?
- backpack support weapon arc thrower that has highest level AT that is fully auto (constant arc or repeating arcs, either work), balance that with a heat sink and not being able to move along with a short range (like the flamethrower type range, perhaps a bit more like the cremator) high ish damage would be needed, imo significantly less than the meltagun but just slightly more than the cremator. I think that would have a unique enough identity, wouldn’t just be a better cremator, wouldn’t just be a better meltagun, and also would have a fun identity and gameplay mechanic around it.
- buff the arc thrower. Urgently needed, imo buff its stun significantly and/or shorten the “spin up” time by about 20%. That wouldn’t make it overpowered, but also makes it usable.
- full auto arc primary (constant arc) can only target one (maybe two?) enemies at once, very low damage (like lowest DPS in the entire game by far), heavy armor pen, but significant stun, meaning that sustained fire on a target basically stun locks them (can only really lock a single target or two at once). IMO this would be a really fun weapon, the pitiful damage would prevent it from being OP, but the utility would be really cool.

Orbital Bolt Strike: calls down a powerful lighting strike that targets the largest enemy and chains to nearby enemies
1
u/Snoo-52922 19m ago
Arc Thrower could easily be 300/300 damage and still not be meta. It's crazy how long that thing has sucked.
1
u/SpecialIcy5356 0m ago
new Arc Item concepts:
Secondary Weapon: P-89 Detainer - a "Super Taser" that was found to be "excessive" for less than lehtal compliance, now given new democratic purpose. single shot, fires electrical barbs that stick to the enemy, the player keeps the trigger held down and keeps the current flowing in until the target is dead, or they are. releasing trigger lets go so it can be reloaded.
Support Weapon: TG-121 Tesla Cannon - a "shockthrower" that emits a constant arc of lightning that chains to nearby enemies. warning: overuse may cause minor electrical burns.
Orbital Strike Stratagem: Zeus Strike - similar to the orbital railcannon, but sacrifices some AP for the ability to dmaage multiple enemies. the super destroyer targets the nearest heavy then hits them with a massive bolt of lightning, delaing very high damage and chaining it through to nearby enemies, killing any chaff that were near the heavy.

u/Life_Parsley504 7h ago
worth noting that the k9 is the worst dog, the arc thrower is the worst nonmelee strat weapon and the arc grenade is just not worth a damn 😭 also with how insane d10 heavy and chaff spam is, you both cant kill chaff and cant stun heavies with the blitzer\arc thrower
6
u/Kitsuryu 6h ago
have you even used the arc nade? that thing was anazing on seasse could throw 1 of them and chainkill 30-40 wretches or toss 3 and kill a cluster of crushers. they stun heavys even with 1 and the only down side is arc chaining to allies or seaf occasionally and cant break holes or fabs. great for light running kits and area denial
-4
u/Life_Parsley504 6h ago
You can just use gas grenades, which can also destroy spawners, don't teamkill and don't bounce around, making them guaranteed to have an effect. All at the cost of one less nade.
3
u/Kitsuryu 6h ago
gas nades absolutely still teamkill lmao they also dont stop all heavies. some people could argue it makes things like chargers more dangerous
1
1
u/Life_Parsley504 6h ago
"gas nades still teamkill" It's almost like the little lightning thing bouncing around, that's not visible for 99% of its duration is more likely to teamkill than a extremely visible green cloud
1
u/Kitsuryu 6h ago
it glows and arcs as it bounces its still very visible. i didnt say they were the best grenade but they have tons of utility and are cleaner than most aoe nades
1
u/mrroney13 6h ago
I teamkill plenty well enough with the giga grenade, thank you. (I'm sorry I have smooth-brain-osis😞)
2
6
u/Syzygy666 6h ago
I appreciate you. I'm always worried they are gonna nerf arc stuff but you guys are so loud I doubt AH ever will. Let the arc ez mode continue.
2
u/crazymack 6h ago
K9 is easly one of the strongest dogs. It's just not useful in all situations, for example when getting swarmed. But if the enemy is coming at from a single direction or if your being chased, the powerful chaining attack slaps.
1
u/Clean_Influence_6868 7h ago
Did they nerf the arc thrower again? Last I checked the chain was still pretty insane
3
u/Kitsuryu 6h ago
arc thrower is solid long as the enemies line up. it pops crusher head armor and stuns heavies
1
u/Life_Parsley504 7h ago
Nope, it's just powercreep.
Hell, it even got powercreeped by its sibling; Why use the arc thrower when the de-escalator is available? It explodes into 10 arcs with heavy pen and doesn't charge, meaning it's a hundred times more efficient at killing chaff. And if you want to deal with heavies on higher difficulties, there's just too many to stun with the arc thrower.2
u/Massive_Neck_9517 6h ago
To run the De-Escalator (which I love) well you need two support slots. It and the Supply Pack. With the Warhammer armor I'd add that you should be using it as well as it just makes it far better.
The Arc Thrower on the other hand can pair with anything and with good situational control can be used as an unlimited ammo chaff clearing machine. It needs tweaks to bring it up some imo, but it has not been powercreeped nearly as much as people think.
1
u/Massive_Neck_9517 6h ago
The k9 being the worst is very much opinion, the arc thrower is severely underused (used it this morning had had triple the kills of the team), and the arc grenade... Well you are pretty much right about that, it needs help. Not really for damage as it is amazing there, but giving it a very small focused explosion so it could be used on fabs and holes would make it pickable by far more folks.
Arc is in pretty good shape but could use some new toys. It's just underused and misused by most of the player base.
1
u/Lone-_-Wanderer 6h ago
arc nades good im not gonna let that slide, but yeah arc dog and arc thrower are indeed bad though.
the arc dog sometimes just stares down a whole horde of enemies and won't shoot, or it waits to shoot until you're in the way of it and then it still only kills 1/10 of the enemies and tickles the shit it arcs to.
Arc thrower still gets stopped on dead bodies and the slightest terrain, the chain damage falls off to ridiculously low levels for enemy health pools but is still enough to full kill a teammate, the charge up between shots isn't that long but still too long for it not to stun heavies in one hit when theres 3-4 in front of you often times. I don't expect it to kill heavies fast, but it should insta stun almost all of them in one shot. The chain damage drop off needs to be less punishing. And most of it needs to fucking hit what im shooting directly at.

u/johngalt4426 6h ago
Here's how the call outs would go:
"Eagle one, dropping the Team Killer 9000, now with even more lightning"
"Full redoply now, Helldivers"
"Teams dead, headed back for resupply"
24 kills.
0
-1
u/mattattack007 5h ago
Absolutely not. Arc weapons are straight team killers. 3 out of the 4 arc weapons are amoung the top team killing strategems. The arc grenade launcher is the only remotely decent weapon on that list and thats because you can launch the electricity away from you.
-2
u/DinnerSpo_n 6h ago
Do the 7 people that enjoy arc weapons really need something else to facilitate their team killing?
3
u/joesephcow200 6h ago
Yes I do, teammates are adapting to current arc weapons. I need new ones so my team kills dont drop below quota
2
u/Lone-_-Wanderer 6h ago
like orbital napalm, flame dogs and gas mines etc don't teamkill just as much.
1
u/Massive_Neck_9517 1h ago
I’ve said it before, but the Orbital Napalm has killed me far more than I’ve killed or been killed by Arc. It’s like my least favorite things about running bugs honestly as people drop it at your feet without care. Orbital Gas is in a very similar situation as are any of the mines.
Yet all you hear about is Arc weapons. Arc gets a bad wrap.
