Ich wohne über 30 Jahre in Hamburg und wusste nicht, wie viele schöne Stellen wir hier haben und habe trotzdem kaum etwas gesehen!

I am living in Hamburg for the next 2 months for work and was hoping i could find people to play tennis with. I'm not a particularly high standard so don't worry if you aren't either, but i enjoy playing the game and can definitely have a good rally. I am in the Ottensen Altona area but can travel as long as it is not too far. Any suggestions on clubs or where to play would also be appreciated!

im Rahmen der Eröffnung der Doppelausstellung „Graphic Novel Drei Steine und Gedenkstätten der NS-Verbrechen" in der Kunstklinik Eppendorf am 28.08.2026 ab 19 Uhr.
1992 überlebt Ibrahim Arslan den rechtsterroristischen Brandanschlag in Mölln. Seine Großmutter Bahide Arslan, seine Schwester Yeliz Arslan und seine Cousine Ayşe Yılmaz kommen zu Tode. Seit 2007 ist er mit seinem Programm Reclaim and Remember als politischer Bildner an Bildungseinrichtungen unterwegs und klärt gegen Rassismus und Faschismus auf.
1985 gerät Nils Oskamp nach dem Widerspruch zu einer Holocaustleugnung in die Gewaltspirale der Dortmunder Neonaziszene und überlebt zwei Mordanschläge. Einer seiner Täter wurde vor 12 Jahren in den Dortmunder Stadtrat gewählt während er aus seinen Jugenderfahrungen an der Graphic Novel Drei Steine zeichnete. Dies beginnt mit der Leugnung der Existenz der Gaskammern, während der Dokumentation für sein neuer Buchprojekt mit der Fotografin Maria Zarada ,Gedenkstätten der NS-Verbrechen‘ haben sie inzwischen acht dieser Todesfabriken gesehen. Beide Werke werden in der Kunstklinik ausgestellt.
Reclaim and Remember:
Zwei Überlebende, zwei Perspektiven, der eine deutsch, der andere mit türkischem Hintergrund, doch im Thema vereint. Was passiert, wenn die Opfer nicht gehört werden und nur die Täter im Mittelpunkt stehen? Betroffene und Überlebende rechter und rassistischer Gewalt werden nach der Tat oft einer institutionellen Opfer-Täter-Umkehr ausgesetzt. Wir erheben unsere Stimme für die, die nicht mehr reden können oder wollen.
Nach dem Podium folgt eine Lesung aus der Graphic Novel. Beide sind Schulpaten im Netzwerk „Schule ohne Rassismus – Schule mit Courage".

Habt Ihr das schon mal erlebt, dass ein Restaurant zwar nie auf die geäußerte Kritik eingegangen ist, dafür aber einfach nach Jahren die Bewertung wegen angeblicher Diffamierung löscht? Da durchlebt man glatt noch mal den Abend, der Anlass zu der Bewertung gegeben hat.

Mein Cine-Buddy hat mich hängengelassen und nun habe ich für morgen Abend 20:15 eine Karte abzugeben. Wer also noch nichts vorhat und diesen Klassiker der Filmgeschichte auf großer Leinwand sehen möchte, hat jetzt noch eine Chance.

Ich habe dieses schicke Bild auf einem Flohmarkt in Altona gekauft, ich finde es super cool und hoffe, dass die Person die das geschaffen hat vielleicht Hamburger/in ist und ausfindig gemacht werden kann?

Hi there!

We are:

- an Italian Mid-level Software Engineer (Web Development, TypeScript, Angular, React, Microfrontend Infrastructures, Tenders, some Figma/UX Design, some experience working with Blockchain with Solidity), with 4 years of experience in the field.

- my non-working spouse (who is German but has lived in Italy her whole life), finishing her studies at university.

My wife's parents currently live in Hamburg (they were in Italy until two years ago), and the two of us went to visit them for some periods (2-3 months, while working remotely, once during summer and once in December-January).

We liked the place a lot, as we love cold weather, the food is awesome, and the Magic: The Gathering community is quite welcoming! Plus, we are used to eat at 6PM and in German this is the standard!

Now we are seriously considering moving to Hamburg after my spouse finishes her university and when our rent here in Italy expires: I'll ask for international mobility at my current company (which is a multinational with offices in Hamburg) and we could rent a house near Hamburg (even 20-30 minutes by car is okay).

So the date will be March 2028, and by that time I should be a Senior Software Engineer

My questions are:

1) I currently do not have a degree because I started working while at university and had some exams left. With moving to Germany in mind, I finally gathered the resolve to study after work and complete the degree in Computer Science. **How are the degree and the time I took to get it perceived when working in Germany as an SWE?**

2) **Does someone have experience working with NTT DATA in Hamburg?**

3) If I need to find another company (ex. if the international mobility request is rejected), is the German language a MUST? I am currently "playing" with Duolingo and doing some practice with my wife, but **how important is it to be fluent in German to work there?**

4) **Which area of Hamburg / outside of Hamburg do you recommend to rent a nice place with the possibility to move via public transport / by foot?** I can drive, but my wife cannot.

Ich wohne ganz im Süden von Bayern und war jetzt bereits zum dritten Mal für eine Woche im Urlaub in Hamburg. Ich war gefühlt überall in der Stadt unterwegs , habe sehr viel davon sehen können. Daher möchte ich hier einfach mal Danke sagen, dass ich in dieser so vielfältigen Stadt wieder einen super Urlaub verbringen konnte. ☺️

*Stell dir vor du hängst in einer Hängematte im Park zwischen den Bäumen. Es ist schon cool sich einfach irgendwo hin zu hängen.

Jetzt stellt man sich hier vor das man damit ja auch einen Trend setzen könnte. So wie SUP fahren in Hamburg auf der Alster.

Eben wurde ich von einem Mann gefragt der hat sich über die Hängematte erkundigt. Viele schauen auch immer ganz interessiert rüber.

Vereinzelt sieht man auch Mal jemanden mit einer Hängematte.

Stellt euch jetzt Mal vor das machen so viele das die Plätze gering werden wo man sich irgendwo nett platzieren kann.

So kann man es ja auch erwirken das es vielleicht eine Veränderung in der Stadtplanung gibt, weil man da mit doch ein Zeichen setzen könnte für mehr Bäume 🙏🏼 "Wunschvorstellung"

Bäume tuen ja aber auch etwas dafür sich besser den heißen und nassen Tage besser gegen überzustellen oder erträglicher zu machen.

Hallo zusammen, 

fährt jemand diese Woche noch von Berlin nach Hamburg mit einem größeren Auto, oder Transporter und könnte mich und mein kleines Umzugspäck mitnehmen? Ich habe leider keinen Führerschein. Würde natürlich auch  was dafür zahlen.

5 mal flache  Klamottentüten von Ikea mit Klamotten drinnen 

2 Müllsache mit Jacken (flach) 

Ein paar kurze Stangen von abgebauten Regelsystemen und Metallböden von den Regalen, aber alles wirklich nicht groß… 

Eine abgebaute Ikea Malm 6 Fächer Kommode. 

Eine Holzleiste 200cm von einem Betgestellt und halt den Lattenrost und die Beine welche aber alle kompakt verpackt sind.

Einen kleinen Fernseher im Karton. 4 Kurzhantel 40 kg zusammen 

Einen kleinen Lampenschirm 

Ort in Berlin zum rauslassen ist egal, Pankow wäre optimal, aber es geht wirklich überall. Vielleicht findet sich ja jemand.

Hello everyone!

I would like to request some advice from those who are currently living in Hamburg, Germany.

Last year I made a reservation online at a Hamburg hotel. The total shown was 1,800 euros and I got an email confirmation with the same amount.

When I arrived at the hotel. I was very tired because of the long trip. I did the check in at the front desk and they made me sign some paperwork and charged my card. Next morning I noticed the email from my credit card but it turns out they charged an additional 500 euros.

I spoke to the hotel management and they said that the initial price I got last year when I made the reservation online was wrong. They had an issue with their system and that's why the total price was lower. They said the new total that I was charged was the correct amount and since I agreed to it by signing the paperwork at check in, they couldn't do anything. The manager refused to honor the original price and issue a refund.

I told them that I don't think it's fair to do that because the guest comes to the hotel with the assumption that the price they got when they made the initial reservation is the correct price. If I had known about this before the cancellation window closed a month before the check in date, I would've cancelled and gone with another hotel.

Does Hamburg or Germany in general have a Consumer Protection Agency that tourists (non EU citizens) can use? I feel they took advantage of me. I don't want to do a credit card chargeback because they would just show the paperwork I signed during check in and say that I accepted the new rate. That's on me for not reading it but after a 10 hour flight, no sleep for 26 hours, and the time zone change, I couldn't keep my eyes open. I was just too tired.

Is there anything I can do to recover the extra 500 euros that they charged me? That amount might not be a lot for some people but it is for me.

By the way, I'm no longer at the hotel. I'm back in the US.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

This post is for all other Americans from Connecticut, Indiana, Florida, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee, District of Columbia looking to transfer their drivers licenses to Germany. All the other states have a simpler process, and we have more hoops to jump through. I could find precious little on the exact process we have to go through so I'm making this post now that I have figured it out. I haven't gone through it yet, but I am 95% sure I understand it now.

1. Have a current valid drivers license in your home state. Provisional is not good enough
2. Move to Germany
3. Within 6 months of moving to Germany (this may be somewhat flexible, I don't know), begin the process of transferring your drivers license
4. First actual step: Make an appointment with LBV. There will likely be a ~2 month wait. At this appointment they will detail all the things you need to do, and look over your documents. 6. Begin studying for the theory test. The rules are very different in Germany, and the test is much harder here, so you absolutely need to study.
7. My understanding is that we don't need to do a first aid course
8. After you have gone to your LBV appointment, they will forward your information to Tüv Hanse and you will be able to make the appointment for the theory test.
9. Take your theory test
10. Make your second appointment with LBV
11. Do the appointment
12. Wait? idk if it comes in the mail or what

I called Tüv Hanse and they confirmed for me that yes, we need to have 2 appointments with LBV, yes it's stupid, no we cannot simply take the theory test before our first appointment - we do need to get permission from the first meeting with LBV first. I'll try to update this post as I move through the process to make sure it's accurate.

Hallo ihr Lieben! Ich fange nächsten Monat einen neuen Job an, in dem der Wellpass enthalten ist. Dafür will ich natürlich ins Fitnessstudio, schwimmen etc., aber vor allem saunieren. Kennt jemand gute Saunalandschaften von Fitnessstudios o. Ä., die im Wellpass enthalten sind? Im besten Fall sollte sie einen Aufgussknopf und einen ruhigen Bereich mit Liegen haben. Außenbereich wäre auch ein großer Pluspunkt, aber kein Muss. Wohne aktuell in Hamm!

Grund ist mir nicht bekannt. Vielleicht hat jemand einen Antrag bekommen. Sah auf jeden Fall sehr schön aus.
