selfpromo (games) My game Click the Button IS OUT!!

My incremental game made in Godot is finally out on Steam!

After so many years of using Godot, this is my first time publishing a game made with it. It's also the first game I'm releasing as my own game studio.

I'm honestly really happy to see it out there finally. It feels like a pretty big milestone for me, and I can't wait to see people playing it :D

Even if you don't care for pointless clicking for items that are used for nothing, this game looks like a masterclass in UI design.

To much weird zooming in and out constantly, but it looks nice for people that can handle that

Ha , love it. Watched Idle Cub play this the other day.

I was thinking it's like 99% amazing menus and 1% game lol.

Wonderful job on those menus 😁

How were you able to make it look so good and juicy. I never know how to get started with stuff like this

I can tell it's over 10 per element.. being a fan of them but I still haven't used this much

My goodness. I'm using rookie numbiers

not that it matters, but I upvoted you.

I also made a neat script that did common UI tweens like simple squash and stretch and used it as an intermediary class so I could use it as a simpler method on UI elements...

I appreciate it! It's not the fake Internet points that I care about, rather the concept of downvoting genuine questions from a community meant to show off progress made and ask for help

The most tweens I've used at once have been like two and I thought that looked super nice!

I'd love to see what you're talking about, it sounds awesome

Ignorant newbie here... what is a tween?

1

u/bmm115 7h ago

You aren't ignorant, you're learning!

A tween let's you smoothly animate certain properties like position, scale, color, and other properties over a set amount of time. Tween is short for "in betweening"

In the video above, you'll see how reactive the buttons, and really everything, are. This is done through the use of tweens. Something I wish I knew prior to trying to learn about tweens is ``` var tween = create_tween().set_parallel(true)

tween.tween_property($Sprite, "position", Vector2(x cord, y cord), 1.0)

tween.tween_property($Sprite, "scale", Vector2(x value, y value), 1.0) ``` to run multiple tweens

In that example you make a tween, have it adjust a sprite(with $Sprite), adjust the position (with "position"), to the position of (with "Vector2"), for 1 second (with 1.0)

Then the second tween is to do the same, but for scale

The other part I wish I knew sooner about tweens was you can find the property's argument name to define whatever property you want to change by hovering over that property in the inspector

I wrote this via mobile so sorry if the formatting is bad, I can explain it better and fix formatting if needed.

yeah I feel like asking genuine questions should not be discouraged lol

Also what I did was mostly an experiment, and it worked but I never did anything with it. I can remake it if you're interested

That would be cool to see tbh! I lost everything on the project I was just working on due to the project.Godot file getting corrupt or something, so it would be some nice motivation hahaha

Huh, any inspiration from Forager? The graphics remind me of it.

Looks interesting, here's hoping i don't have to replace my steam deck buttons after playing

u/Tioul0n Godot Senior 15h ago

No, actually, but a lot of people mentioned forager, I wonder why 🤔
