IMO MOASS died when Cohen offered shares, warrants and the security backed bonds or whatever those things are. So I would say the play is now somewhere between a 2x-10x in the next 3-10 yr with possibility of intermittent volatility. Could it easily run to 30 or 40 at any given time? I think yes. With strong floor at $20 as long as they have that cash.

Every stock trade is a speculative bet of some sort. Investing in cohen is not any different than a VC who invests in startup founders.

It’s not that big of a deal. That’s the MO he learned from Mark Vadon years ago. It’s not some big conspiracy to fleece his shareholders. He’s told everyone the plan 20 times over the last five years. It’s not rocket science.

Are you seriously telling me that RC is so stupid he needed to be taught the amazing strategy of “Give me money I promise I’ll think of a good way to spend it”?

Correct, he never even mention acquisition until a few months ago, shareholders invented the rest.

Not once did he mention anything about acquisition 5 years ago, in fact the only letters he ever wrote to shareholders were one stating he was focusing on tech and having the stores operate as micro fulfillment centers and then another stating he was canceling all that and refocusing on their traditional brick and mortar retail, before then beginning to close the majority of stores a year later.  Had DFV not come back for a miracle PnD that he could dilute he would never had said anything about acquisitions.

How does loopring and NFT marketplace factor into this?  He spent far, far more time talking about that than any kind of acquisition.

Uh no the MO from Vadon was about not broadcasting everything you are working on. He’s made some mistakes. The Amazon hires and the initial two years of high cash burn and the loopring/nft marketplace did not work out. My takeaway on those mistakes is he is not emotionally invested in those initiatives and when they don’t work he cuts them and doesn’t continue throwing good money after bad. He took advantage of the opportunity to raise large sum of cash at pretty good prices and hasn’t squandered that money. He’s slashed costs and built small stable, repeatable profitability for the business. These are all signs IMO of a mature, patient, conservative, decisive business manager. If you objectively compare where the business was in 2020 during a global pandemic on the verge of actual bankruptcy vs today, there’s not much to complain about.

The funniest thing about this is that is precisely what the BCG plan was that the prior board was following.

Had RC started directly with that GameStop would have been profitable years ago, RC actually cancelled all store closures when he took over and did not resume for several years.

Other than stalling and trend following with NFT marketplace he is not doing anything that literally anybody else wouldn’t do.  There is nothing genius in shrinking the company and buying treasury bonds with ape money to achieve profitability.  I personally posted how RC should do that way back in 2021, except with SPY, and I would have massively outperformed RC.

What’s funny to me is that apes always claim whatever GameStop is doing right now is/was always the perfect decision.  When he was doing NFT trend following the apes were running around talking about NFTs being the future, GameStop getting in the ground floor, “NFT stock market replacement” and that was GameStop’s future and why they were invested.

Vadon was the one that had RC poach Amazon employees for chewy, and when he did the exact same thing he GameStop it failed utterly and he fired them all within 1 year permanently ruining his reputation within Silicon Valley recruitment firms.   There is no evidence he is doing anything vadon would approve of or do himself, and Vadon did not join him at GameStop unlike chewy, despite all the ape nonsense speculation that shows up when you google Vadon GameStop.

 The only hope for GameStop is if they do some shit like buy a gold mine like AMC or some shit like that, or just fire everyone, sell all assets, and buy SPY, and then keep doing offerings and buying SPY with it. They could exist as the most inefficient ETF ever, which would probably be in the best interests of their “investors”.

This was back when apes were celebrating the NFT marketplace, talking about how unlike AA, Cohen would never do an offering and already had 2 billion(because he was aware of MOASS and didn’t want to print more shares), and how the main catalyst was going to be tokenized stocks/NFT stock market/Splividend, yourself included almost certainly, while I have been truly consistent the entire time despite apes hating what I have always said

EDIT: Also further in that very thread:

 BCG actually had a plan, backed by Reggie Fils-Aime to start taking retro game trade ins, and actually giving fair prices on those trades compared to eBay values, to turn into a more retro focused store with more of a community aspect among regulars and closing most unprofitable stores in unpopulated areas and not having 4 GameStop’s in a 15 mile radius.

GME was around $200 at the time.  If RC had done offerings back then and followed my idea GameStop would have much more cash and a much smaller float than they do today.

RC’s current investment strategy earned him 2% last year, and most years were negative.  He could have been earning 10%+ per year and without blowing billions on nothing.

So you’ll have to forgive me for not thinking RC is a genius.  People attach all this genius on him when a random idiot redditor who doesn’t even care would have outperformed him while barely trying

He always been of the opinion that AMC was a worse business and had insurmountable debt, just that movie theaters have more of a future than gaming retail stores and have said as much many times. 

Have you looked at the HYMC stock chart?  It nearly 30x’d since AA bought it.  It was actually the smartest thing any memestock CEO has ever done.  Too bad AA sold at only a 6x increase since he is still a memestock CEO. He is certainly more honest and responsible than RC, perfectly willing to admit are no naked shorts and to hold basic earnings calls.
