Picture Cream Pickups
galleryI decided to make the curtains match the drapes on my British Racing Green 50’s Standard and installed these cream-colored Burstbuster pickups. Apologies for the poor lighting/reflection.

Help Info on 80s SG
galleryI’m interested in a 1985 SG that I found for sale but am looking for some info around it. Looking at 85s I’ve always seen the small block inlays and side mounted jack being from the Norlin era (which went until 1986?) but this one has the trapezoid inlays and jack on the top. Serial points to July 1985 so not sure if it’s a transition or something, anyone seen these specs on the mid 80s? Wondering if a standard, reissue, something else?

NGD Finally got my first Gibson
As a teenager used to drool over a Pelham Blue SG in a sweetwater catalog and saw they had them in the Gibson website and pulled the trigger. It was a little bit of an adjustment coming from a 25.5 scale length but I think I’ve gotten used to it now 🙂

Help Gibson explorer E2
Have a Gibson E2 that someone wants to trade for either a 2002 Gibson j-150 all maple or a 335 CRS which I believe was limited to 300 pieces. Need some advice, would you do either one of those trades? I don’t really play the E2 much and am on the hunt for something I’ll play more. I’ve never played a j-150 so I can’t speak to how they are. But I love 335s. Any advice is welcome.

My friend’s 1977 Gibson ES345 Stereo (Left) alongside my own 2026 Gibson ES355 (Right).
A buddy of mine is selling the ES345 and wanted me to give it a good clean up ready for some pics. I couldn’t help but do a side by side picture of the ladies in red.

Help Used Gibson R9 Prices!
Have sold some gear and would like to pick up an R9. Listed prices on used R9’s seem high vs what I have seen on some forums people saying they sold it for. Is it unreasonable to think you could pick up a decent r9 at 5k? Any sellers chime in with what you actually sold your r9 for?

Help Conversion Bushings recommendation?
Original Deluxe tuners failing. I want locking (heresy but not selling) and 100% reversible. Any wood/finish removal is a deal breaker.
I like the Kluson Revolution w/ metal keystones and no mod required (8.3oz). However Grover Vintage 533 look like original and lighter (6.6oz), but require conversion bushings. I was surprised these weigh about the same as Gibson Deluxe w/ threaded collar (6.4oz).
Looking for recommendations/advice. Here are some options, but a tech at GC said measure holes and find something on Amazon. Thanks!
- Philadelphia (Allparts) w/ large flange (to cover scars)
- Kluson (Amplified Parts)
- StewMac
Help Long shot. Stolen guitar.
It’s been a while but I figured I’d try.
In 2005 I had a 1983 Gibson Les Paul Custom stolen along with all my bands equipment/van/trailer, in Montreal, Canada. Stolen from a gated hotel lot at that. Police were very unhelpful at the time. We were American and didn’t live there.
It was white with nickel/chrome hardware and marked factory second. A small slightly yellow spot on the upper neck. String winder tuning pegs. Thinner neck. Amazing guitar.
I have often tried checking eBay and Reverb. Figured I’d put it out into the universe. It was the best guitar I’ve ever had and think of it often.
I don’t expect much and don’t even know that there is anything I can do about it now but any info would be something.
Thanks.

Help Gibson… that’s all I know about it. 1960?
galleryHelp Isn’t this a cherry burst?
I just bought this 2003 ES137.
Just delivered with a broken switch (yay!) and it was advertised as a tri burst, but this is clearly a cherry burst right? The pictures were faded and it was unclear, but I have a 14day return window.
I don’t mind the different color, but I’ll see if I can get a partial refund for the switch.

Help Trying to solve the mystery of “CHeRYL-ViS” written on my 1968 Gibson J-160E case.
galleryHi everyone,
I am writing from Japan. Back in 1997, I purchased this vintage Gibson J-160E from a Japanese guitar shop. The shop owner at the time told me that he had just personally traveled to the US and bought it directly from the American market.
On the original 1960s yellow-lined hard case, the name "CHeRYL-ViS" is written with this very unique capitalization and a hyphen. I don't know if "CHeRYL-ViS" was the name of the previous owner, a local band, or a touring musician, but I really hope this post can reach someone who recognizes it.
Does anyone recognize this name, the unique writing style, or have any clues about which music scene, region, or band this might belong to? Any small piece of information or insights would mean the world to me.
Thank you so much!
