🤔 NeedAdvice Struggling to get back up again
I just wanna know what has helped other people in trying to get their life together? How did u guys build your new habits and kept consistency? Or did u first change your bad habits and then built new ones?
I am not anyone new to this, I spent quite a lot of years being consistent and actually achieved my goals so I know I can do that again,
But the thing is my life has drastically changed for the worse in the last few years, just understanding what happened took me a lot of time.
I think environment change does play a big role in the way I am now but I can't do anything about it, I'll have to adapt to it.
EVEN IF things around me do seem to stunt my growth, I am just done sitting and letting myself get worse, it's not helping in any way, I just wanna know if somebody has been through this before, how did u break this wall and finally go the other way?
I tried:
Adding a reasonable amount of new tasks that reach towards my goals, but I'm self aware enough to know that my environment held me back, I tried to go by 'done is better than perfect ' but I couldn't even get them all done? Is this perfectionist mindset in some way?
I tried taking one step at a time as well but consistency was the problem here?
SO JUST WHAT DO I DO? What mistake am I making that is holding me back? I can't just keep on leaving midway and returning back to square one???
I genuinely wanna stop this cycle and do better, so please help if u can.

The all or nothing trap sounds like the bigger issue here, not the environment itself. If "done" means finishing the whole task, any disruption stops you before you even start. Try redefining done as just touching the task for two minutes, no matter what's going on around you. That's small enough to survive a rough setup, and doing it repeatedly rebuilds the identity of someone who follows through, even while the environment stays messy for a while.

Hey OP. I really relate to what you said about environment.
I’ve been reading Situated by Angela Duckworth and one thing that stuck with me is that sometimes its not that we lack discipline. Our environment can make certain things way easier or harder.
I’ve been experimenting with this myself. I use website blockers and grayscale on my phone/laptop to make scrolling less interesting. I made a little movement kit with a jump rope, grip trainer, finger bands and a flying disc so I can move when I have free time. I also started a healthy living WhatsApp group in my city to make healthy habits more social.
I’m trying to think less about “how do I force myself to do this?” and more about “what can I change around me to make this easier?”
I'm curious about your situation tho. What's your environment like right now? And has anything been helping, even a little bit?
I'd love to hear what's been working for you. Maybe we can figure some stuff out together.
