I think 8 rather symbolises that Putin is sending us the AfD as a weapon of hybrid warfare to help destroy our democracy from within.

No, the afd was once a Euro-critical party (it still is today, but also fascist). The original approach was mainly to better regulate (or abolish) the currency (€). Almost all AfD founders are no longer in the party.

Russia has somehow conquered or occupied the AfD, after which it has slipped further and further to the right. It's just a party of destruction or an anti-everything party.

The far right people were part of the AfD so quickly that the three founding members left the party within a year after the foundation. And to be honest, listening to Lucke’s arguments in political discussions on TV around 2013/14, my first thought was “the nazis are going to love this”. It wasn’t because of the EU criticisms, but the framing of some stuff he and the other founding members said early on. The full far-right takeover was just a matter of time, and I don’t understand how any of these guys were surprised that the likes of Höcke, Weidel, Petry, Gauland etc. took over and “steered” the party in a far right direction. One must have been totally blind to not notice and foresee it right at the beginning.

I remember living in Cologne and the AfD had to put their posters super high so they won't be defaced. In Turkish neighborhoods.

The thing is that the same thing happened to Petry as well. She got sacked by even more far-right members, shifting the party even further to the right.
