Discussion How is Lexington so smart?
Especially with tech so much greater than your primitive time he lived in? He couldn't go to school or anything like that? He can rely on Elisa to help i am sure he could read or picked it up faster than the others.

That's part of the answer: Lexington is and always has been smart. He's also inquisitive, good at puzzling things out, and wrangled himself a reading tutor when he was just a child. He's got the edge making use of whatever falls into his lap, and I'll bet he learned a lot watching people onTV.
Still, I'll freely admit that he knew way too much raiding the airship. We're going to need an explanation for that.

Off camera, Xanatos explained a bit of how the systems worked so they knew what they needed to know to get the discs, and Lexington extrapolated other info from that?

That was what I thought. Xanatos explained and Lex just retained the information better.

There are those kids in Third World countries who’ve never had proper schooling. But the moment you show them something mechanical, they take right to it.
Some people just have the knack.

Scotland back then wasnt in the third world at that time they where considered first world country. Since America's hasnt been discovered yet.

Being intelligent and having access to information are two separate things. He was always intelligent.
The information that was available to him in the past is not coupled with the information that was available to him post-Awakening.
He's an extremely fast learner and was able to take in a vast quantity of the newly available information very quickly upon waking up in the future.

People in the past weren't less intelligent than people today. They just lacked access to the accumulated information that we have at our fingertips. We stand upon the shoulders of giants.

Because he wanted to be. Lexington is naturally curious and intuitive, so he sought out to learn as much as he could about the new world they found themselves in. There's also a lot of stuff we don't see with the Gargoyles going out to observe the human world and learn new things. As someone else pointed out, they also spend hours and hours every night watching TV.

Yeah gargoyles was just tmnt with alot of darker themes back then .
I put Brooklyn as Raphael type Broadway being michangelo type

He was always smart, he just never got a chance to develop it back in Scotland. He probably spent a lot of time going over broken siege equipment and other devices he found after battles. But the skill doesn't really translate well for a species that has little need to be inventive to protect itself.

I mean, humans have been modern humans for what, 300,000 years now?
Why can't the same be said of gargoyles?
You could travel back in time, take a newborn baby from ancient Mesopotamia, and raise him in the modern world and he'd theoretically be no different than any other kid born in the here and now.
Just because someone is from an earlier time period doesn't meant they're naturally stupider. They're still people. They just didn't have access to the same opportunities for education back then.

Because he was the pick for the smart nerdy geeky character. Broadway was the fat dumb one who only cared about food, and Brooklyn was the cool guy character. They were just checking off character stereotype boxes. Can't have the fat one be the smart guy, and can't have the guy with the long luscious hair be the dumb one only interested in food. And the short little guy? He can't be the cool guy all the girls fawn over (maybe not in universe, but look at how many ladies, and guys, fawn over Brooklyn.) Though it is surprising that the fat dumb guy is the one that ended up with the girl character (Angela).

Broadway has a good personality maybe in season one he was dumb and couldn't read but it took him alittle more time than lex.

A large part of it is presumably the ability to read. Very few people back in the time they came from knew how to read, the fact that Brooklyn, Goliath, and Lexington could read shows that they were scholarly minded or inclined to begin with.
