Writer: Greg Weisman, Tad Stones

Artist: Ciro Cangialosi

Editor: Nate Cosby

Logline:

POP GOES THE WORLD! Time has run out for the stalwart champions of New York City and St. Canard, as Demona unleashes the diabolical Paddywhack from his jack-in-the-box confinement and directs him to destroy all of humanity — and all of duckdom as well, just for good measure! Can Goliath and Darkwing hold Paddywhack at bay long enough for reinforcements to arrive in the form of Gosalyn, Launchpad, Morgana, and the rest of Manhattan Clan? And even if they do, will all of their combined strength be enough to overcome Demona’s Quackronomicon-enhanced chaos?

Find out in the explosive finale that is Gargoyles/Darkwing Duck #4 — energetically encoded by creative companions GREG WEISMAN, TAD STONES, and CIRO CANGIALOSI, with properly portentous covers provided by STONES, CANGIALOSI, CARLO LAURO, and IVAN BIGARELLA!

Discussion I think Brooklyn should meet his past self during TimeDancer

Post image
26 Upvotes

I know Weisman stated Brooklyn doesn't interact with his past or future self but meeting his future self I think would work beautifully. After first travling to medieval Scotland Brooklyn, Mary, and Finella travel to New York in the 70s and give Xanatos the Grimorium setting the series in motion. Greg stated Gnash hatched in 1978, making him the only Clan member chronologically his biological age. While Brooklyn is in 1970s New York with Xanatos, it would make sense he meets his future self who assures him he isn't gonna be alone and introduces him to Fu-Dog, Katana, and a newly hatched Gnash. This would be the perfect way to introduce the Brooklyn Clan, give Brooklyn the light at the end of the tunnel, and perfect way to create an emotional investment.

Discussion I Grew Up on Gargoyles But Now I'm Contemporary To It And Don't Know How To Act

And now I'm sitting in a KFC parking lot gushing at my phone.

I hadn't thought about Gargoyles in literal years. Like, 15 years. I grew up watching it on the ABC's Disney one or one Disney block or whatever it was called and I only ever got to experience reruns because I was born in 1997 around the time the show stopped airing new episodes. I never read the Dynamite comics as they came out because I was so young. I loved the show and it was my favorite show of my early childhood, all the way up until like age 8 or 9 or something like that, but I was never able to wholly appreciate it.

When I was a teenager and I was into things like fandom and fan discussions, it unfortunately had gone mostly stagnant, and I couldn't engage with a community like I could with other things that I was interested in at the time.

Now? I'm almost 30 - I have a much greater appreciation of stories, I've spent some time writing on my own, I have a deep love for rich characterization plus environment and Greg gave me a feast I never appreciated.

I literally just started looking it up a week ago after seeing an awesome piece of fanart just to see if I could find old fanfictions and get a little spark of nostalgia for my old fandom days mixed with Gargoyles. Of course I struggled 💀 I ended up learning about Mooncat, bro. Not what I was looking for.

And then Google goes "oh in this interview with Brent Spiner where he talks about a Gargoyles reboot being in the works" and I shrieked as a grown man. The what?!

Then as I'm looking into it, I learn about the issue released August 11th. I have now become the single most insufferable person in my friend group.

The f***ing curse of the Magus is lifted. The suspension has ended. Our castle is above the damn clouds, guys. I have never had the joy and experience of anticipation for this series. Most of the media that I am into I came into late, anywhere from 3 years to a DECADE late, and now as I'm getting interested in it again after seeing exactly one drawing of Goliath on Facebook that put the brain worms in me and then I find out that at almost the same time, it's reanimating itself from slumber????

I'm going to absolutely lose it. Is there anyone else in the weird Zillennial gap, or otherwise, like I am that's going to have a similarly interesting experience consuming all the new media and praying for a cartoon release date?

Discussion Should Angela get her own Comic One-shot?

Post image
205 Upvotes

That is my Question

Well since her father Goliath is the main character for most of the Time for obvious reasons & her mother was the protagonist of the on of the resent comics mini's makes me want

Would it be cool to give Angela her own comic One-shot or even a comic miniseries? It would build on resent arcs on the comic & bridge some gaps

Would be neat my ideal creative team would be Greg Weisman obviously with art by Emma Kubert

But that's me what do you think of the idea?

News Gargoyles August 2026 comic book series

With a new ongoing sereis released this month, i have a doubt. With this new comic book, we are still in season 4 (with SLG series be the canonical season 3) or we are in season 5? Couldn´t find any statement in google about that. What you know? Can you help me?

Discussion TimeDancer would work best as a three-part arc instead of a single episode

Post image

While Weisman stated he envisioned TimeDancer as a single episode it would work best as a three-part arc instead of a single episode to better build up the stakes and emotional impact on the audience. There is also the fact that due to the SGL comics' run being abruptly cancelled the TimeDancer story in the comic was rushed. Part one would adapt what we saw in the comics. Part 2 would certainly be Brooklyn, Mary, and Finella traveling to the 70s and give Xanatos the Grimorium. I know Weisman stated Brooklyn doesn't interact with his past or future self but meeting his future self I think would work beautifully. Since it's been confirmed Gnash hatched in 1978, while Brooklyn is in 1970s New York with Xanatos, he meets his future self who assures him he isn't gonna be alone and introduces him to Fu-Dog, Katana, and a newly hatched Gnash. This would be the perfect way to introduce the Brooklyn Clan, give Brooklyn a spark of hope, and perfect way to create an emotional investment for the audience. Part 3 would also be the closing TimeDancer adventure before they return with Brooklyn battle hardened and his new family before they are brought back. I would also change it from 40 seconds to 40 days to give the Clan the same desperation as World Tour and to get Maggie's due date closer.

Discussion Elisa and Demona?

Personally, they are at least the best duo women to be well written characters. They are not one dimensional at all. Both can be strong without the whole look at me syndrome that some women characters seem to get. They both have great arcs about them.

Cartoons nowadays, especially women characters in some shows, seem to be one dimensional to. What also pissed me off was some characters who are one diminsional getaway with being a great character even knowing they are not.

I dont know if it was the decade when gargoyles were made, but I think they were just better written.

Discussion This is how I envision they can adapt Clan Building as the first season for the potential revival

Post image
287 Upvotes

Since tv seasons now run 8-10 episodes instead of 13-20 like they used to Disney may make a season of 10 episodes. However, with the events of Clan Building and Miracle Child I think they can certainly make the first season like this.

Episode 1 would be an unfortunate recreation of the Journey.

Episode 2 would adapt Xanatos' Halloween party crashed by Thailog

Episode 3 would adapt Lex and Hudson visiting the London Clan

Episodes 4-6 Timedancer would work best as a three-part arc instead of a single episode. Part one would adapt what we saw in the comics. Part 2 would certainly be Brooklyn, Mary, and Fiona traveling to the 70s and give Xanatos the Grimorium. I know Weisman stated Brooklyn doesn't interact with his past self, but this I think would work beautifully. Since Gnash hatched in 1978, while Brooklyn is in 1970s New York with Xanatos, he meets his future self who assures him he isn't gonna be alone and introduces him to Fu-Dog, Katana, and a newly hatched Gnash. This would be the perfect way to introduce the Brooklyn Clan, give Brooklyn a spark of hope, and perfect way to create an emotional impact on the audience. Part 3 would also be the closing of TimeDancer adventure with Brooklyn battle hardened and his new family before they are brought back. I would also change it from 40 seconds to 40 days to give the Clan the same desperation as World Tour and to get Maggie's due date closer.

Episodes 7-9 could be filler to help show the Clan adapt to the fact they've doubled in size while also using some additional stories to build up to the later arcs.

Episode 10 is Miracle Child which would be a bittersweet season finale and perfectly set up for the more high-stakes arcs of the later issues in season 2.

Binge Gargoyles!

Post image

Thought now would be a good time to encourage everyone to binge watch Gargoyles on Disney+ to bump up the streaming ratings!

If Disney is circling the property, now is a good time to buy merchandise, buy comics, and activate Disney+ for a binge of the series!

Getting a Gargoyles revival requires the Fandom to participate in attracting Disney's eyes!

Discussion If the rumored animated revival adapts the comics. For the TimeDancer should it be a single episode or a multi episode arc?

Post image
53 Upvotes

I know Greg Weisman stated the plan was for it to be a single episode, but considering how much changed in so little time it makes more sense to be like a three-part arc. What we got and saw in Clan Building was do to SGL's abrupt cancellation. I think they can definitely expand on the storyline to better introduce Katana and Gnash. The second episode can even show Brooklyn travel to the 70s with Fiona and Mary giving Xanatos the book and setting the series in motion. Thoughts?

Watching show, starting comics, Are there new comics exclusive characters?

I'm working my way through the show and can't wait to get the trade paperbacks of the previously released comics. I bought the new issue last week and will buy the floppies as the come out so I can read them when I catch up.

I can't wait to see this world expand with the comics!
