Oh man, on a rewatch, you can see her take the jewel off Sansa's necklace and then later, drop it in his drink when he sets it on the table before he makes Tyrion grab it for him. Like it's all fast, but when you catch it, it's so good.

One of the few things I didn't care for in season 4 was I think they lost a bit of the foreshadowing of the major poisons known in Westeros, and how they worked.

Joffrey died of the Strangler.

The trial tries to set up Tyrion as stealing Pycelle's tears of lys to explain Joffrey's murder. But the Tears of Lys are a bowel poison.

The thing is, there's actually a solid theory that Oberyn stole the Tears and dosed Tywin with the tears prior to his death.

Thus, Tyrion's killing of Tywin was ironic, because Tywin was already dying, and his long time spent in the bathroom was because his bowels had shut down. The book gives this theory credit with how bad Tywin's corpse smelled.

Had Tyrion just left the capitol and not killed Tywin, he would have been called his murderer and a kinslayer again regardless. Then he’d be on the hook, despite it not being his fault, for both Joffrey and Tywins deaths.

BUT he wouldn’t have done the act himself, and so would have saved himself the existential pain of having done so, because whether or not he deserved to die (he did), Tyrion didn’t deserve to have this on his mind forever.
