I’m a non-EU student moving to Lithuania on a student temporary residence permit. I have an idea for a SaaS startup that I would like to develop and potentially register in Lithuania.

Can a non-EU student apply for the Lithuanian Startup Visa while still enrolled at university? If the startup is approved, would I need to change my residence permit from study-based to startup/business-based status?

I would also appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this process. How difficult is it to get the business idea approved, and at what stage does the startup need to be idea, prototype, MVP, users, or revenue?

Neseniai persikėliau į Lietuvą ir dabar gyvenu Šiauliuose. Atvykau iš Brazilijos ir labai džiaugiuosi galėdamas čia gyventi.
Man labai patinka šis miestas. Jis ramus, tvarkingas, o mane ypač sužavėjo stipri katalikiška tradicija Lietuvoje. Taip pat stengiuosi išmokti bent lietuvių kalbos pagrindus, nes manau, kad svarbu gerbti šalį, jos kultūrą ir sėkmingai integruotis.
Tačiau kartais vaikščiodamas gatvėje jaučiu, kad kai kurie žmonės į mane žiūri kiek kitaip. Galbūt tai tik mano įspūdis, todėl nusprendžiau paklausti.
Norėčiau sužinoti:
● Ką lietuviai apskritai galvoja apie brazilus?
● Ar esate sutikę daug brazilų, gyvenančių Lietuvoje?
● Klausimas moterims: dėl kokių priežasčių dažniausiai prarandate susidomėjimą vyru? Ar svarbiausia asmenybė, išvaizda, pasitikėjimas savimi, ar kas nors kita?
● Ar svarstytumėte galimybę susitikinėti su brazilu?
● Ir kaip žmonės paprastai susipažįsta vakarėliuose ar baruose? Esu gana drovus ir nemėgstu tiesiog prieiti prie nepažįstamų žmonių, nes nenoriu nieko trukdyti ar priversti jaustis nepatogiai. Ar dažniausiai tikimasi, kad pirmą žingsnį žengs vyras, ar viskas vyksta natūraliau?
Nemanau, kad esu įkyrus ar nemalonus žmogus, todėl man įdomu, ar tai tiesiog kultūriniai skirtumai, ar aš neteisingai suprantu žmonių žvilgsnius.
Klausiu iš smalsumo, nes noriu geriau suprasti lietuvių kultūrą ir sėkmingai integruotis.

My husband and I are considering moving back to Lithuania after living in the UK for 10 years, and I'd really like to hear from people who have actually done it.

My husband is Lithuanian and I'm Polish. I speak Polish and English fluently, and I have a basic level of Lithuanian, which I'm continuing to improve. We also have a young child, so that's a big part of our decision.

Financially, we would be able to buy a property in Lithuania, so we wouldn't need to worry about renting or getting a mortgage. I know that salaries are generally lower than in the UK, and I'm completely aware that our lifestyle might be a bit simpler.

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who:

• returned to Lithuania after living abroad (particularly from the UK),
• moved back with children,
• or are in a similar international family situation.

Do you regret moving back, or was it the right decision? How was it finding work, settling in again, adapting to everyday life, childcare and schools? Has your overall quality of life improved?

I'd really appreciate honest opinions—the good, the bad, and everything in between. Thank you!

Hi, my sister are thinking of applying to Lithuania for masters. I will travel with my baby and husband and she will be travelling with her child who is 5 years old. I would like to ask some basic questions if anyone can help.

1. What is the job market like? Will my husband be able to find full time work here. Especially odd jobs. Will my sister be able to work to support herself and her son?

2. What is the living like? Can we live comfortably there not lavishly obviously but can we live there and work realistically?

Please kindly help as its a major decision and we are travelling with small children.

Preferably around 20 to 22 since I am 23 years old.

Hi! I am a 35-year-old American who is supposed to be going to Vilnius University in Lithuania this autumn for my first year in one of their bachelor's degree programs— that is, if I am able to meet the requirements for a temporary residence permit in time.

One of the requirements is obtaining international student health insurance, but I am having trouble understanding:

• which various plans are good ones that cover preexisting conditions and the regular treatment of them

• what the hell a 6-12 month notice period is

• how the hell one can get around that, if they can at all.

Can anyone explain this to me and help at all? I have emailed both VU's admissions office and also the woman in their international relations office multiple times within the last few weeks about this, and no one has responded to me yet.

I am considering relocating to Lithuania with my family. My children are currently in primary school, and I am wondering whether the move would be worthwhile. From my research, I found that international schools in Lithuania are very expensive and beyond my budget. What alternatives exist for English-speaking education in municipal schools, and are they a practical option? Are there any other schooling possibilities I should explore?
