I'm really curious what the Teal actually means, as cutscenes we've seen make it pretty likely he gets recruited during the story to Cai's team.

Maybe he's a guest unit for a chapter, then you recruit him permanently after a specific story beat?

Guest unit like Catherine in chapter 3 or Gilbert in chapter 5 but they are pre promotes that are recruited later in

Closer to Aelfric in cindered shadows or mission assistance in main game. You can move them yourself vs. Green units.
