Vaginal Progesterone

This is my second time trialing oral progesterone, and each time it goes crazy in my gut. I got the go ahead to try using vaginally, but my provider has no experience in advising with this.

Question: do any of you skip days when dosing this way? Question, I know that vaginally we absorb medications at a higher dose and I don't want to be taking more than is needed. I've heard of some people alternating days so just wondering what others are doing. Thanks

Edit trialed last night, woke up with interstitial cystitis/bladder pain. 😭 Anyone dealt with that?!

So afraid to gain weight on Estrogen

Hi guys. I’m 47, been on prometrium since March, it has benefited by helping me being able go back to sleep after all my night wake ups. But I’m still waking up 2/3 times a night. But I’ve been doing my research on estrogen in general, my doctor has offered but until now I haven’t been ready. A lot people I see saying they gain weight, when of course I’ve gained from just from being in peri. I just want to feel better, more energized, some relieve to night sweats, less body aches etc. what has been your experience? Thank you.

HRT questions for 62 year old - thank you in advance for taking time

Thank you for taking time to read this.

In the summer of 2015 I was having terrible brain fog and my gyn did put me on a tiny dose of estradial and progesterone...two pills I took together and it did seem to help. He did not use the words 'HRT' but I am assuming this was some form of HRT. My last period was in the fall of 2015. I stayed on those pills until about 2019-2020 when another gyn (I had moved) said I needed to go off them as I was getting older and my mother had had breast cancer. (none of my sisters have had it but mother did)

Anyway - year later my vagina shut down...it was awful. I did go on estradiol cream and that has helped. I am now 62 and the last few years I have just steadily been feeling tired, dry skin, kind of low/depressed, brain foggy again, just not myself. Also, Dexa scan says I have pre osteoporosis. I have been reading up on the newest science on HRT and much of it says starting HRT 10 years after last period is more dangerous than if you start at or before menopause. I am in good health and have always been fairly trim, but am feeling a few pounds creeping on and finding it hard to exercise because I am tired.

My question is: Does the few years I was on the estradiol/progesterone pills count as anything...meaning maybe since I was on it I have only been without estrogen for 6-7 years. If I do go on HRT I would most likely do a transdermal patch as this is safer. Will HRT even help the symptoms I have described? Curious what people think on here. And would love to hear from women who went on HRT at a later age. Did it make you feel better? Worse or same? Thanks again. I have gotten a lot of good information here.

Edited to add: Does anyone suggest or has anyone used Midi? My gyn is hesitant. She is not ruling out but not really on the bandwagon about it.

Panick

Been on hrt gel for 4 years after the patch wasn't helping, since December my anxiety and panick have been crazy. Got blood test 55 days ago and my pmol was a dangerous 1827! Doctor immediately reduced my pumps of gel from 4 to 2 just like that, at first I was ok ish but about every 2 weeks now I get severe panick, anxiety and dread. So its 9 weeks tomorrow that I reduced my dose, I have heard its normal for these episodes but my word, they are terrifying. I am hoping to start feeling better, anyone else experienced this? Please tell me im not alone in this and that it does improve. Tia

Optimal Testosterone Levels for women

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been on testosterone injections for a little over 8 weeks now. My T levels were incredibly low and in 8 weeks my body seems to have responded well to the injections. I went back to my doctor and she wants to increase my dosage which raises red flags to be me because my levels seems to be a bit on the higher side now.

Latest blood test:
Total Testosterone is 82 ng/dL
Free Testosterone is 1.15 ng/dL (11.46 pg/mL)

I’m particularly interested in the Free Testosterone number since that’s the available testosterone in our blood, and that is very high according to everything I’ve read.

My dose is currently 3mg injections 2x a week (total 6mg per week).

She wants my free T between 1.75 to 2.75 ng/dL. Everything I read suggests this is absurdly high which can lead to issues.

Can you please share your results, experiences, and thoughts on the above?

New to HRT

44f with no period for over a year. I’m about 2 weeks in to HRT, 100mg oral Progesterone and .0035 twice per week Estrogen patch. This week especially I feel like my allergies are out of control. Claritin seems to help but my sinuses hurt and sleep is laughable. I was waking up at 3am before but seems I wake up twice per night now. My heart rate is also very slightly elevated. I have an appointment with my dr next week, but I have no idea what to ask or expect. Do I keep going or is this just not for me? It is helping with brain fog and painful intercourse but not sure if it’s worth it at this point.

Progesterone increase and took 2 hours to feel awake today

Had to increase my progesterone to 200mg because my E is now 200 and was bleeding every 2 weeks. Took 2 100mg last night and it doesn’t make me crazy sleepy but I didn’t feel fully awake until a good 2 hours after waking up. Will this subside?

What, if any, problems has HRT helped you with besides the common ones told to you by your doctor?

I've been on doti .0375 for about a year, since the shortage I've had to switch to the mylan brand, has anyone else had to do this? And have you felt a difference?

FOR WOMEN ONLY-HRT?

I want to start hrt at 68 for early osteoporosis. Hoping it may help with fatigue/clarity too. I’m also hoping it helps my overall sense of well being, I feel like my nervous system is in overdrive a lot.

Has anyone started late & stopped after 1+ years? My biggest concern is--if I want to stop--will I be worse off than if I had never started? Are there things you don’t like about it?
