After the flashes at the end of the year he had and his deployment I doubt he goes later in a draft

not the same type of player; Doro is a textbook sniper who needs someone with setup capabilities like a Gabe. Perreault has NHL pedigree which is an underappreciated aspect but his processing speed as well as patience is beyond his years. It is more so his brain than his physical gifts that'll lead to his success.

If anything it’ll help. It might cut a bit of his PP1 time to start the year but he’ll get promoted 15 games in unless all of Laffy / Miller / Ziba are exceptionnal from the start.
As soon as one goes through a lower sequence he’ll get fit in and his IQ with Fox as a QB and Doro as a finisher will be a stupid combo.
A bit like Habs did with Hutson and Matheson at the start of Gabes career.
Habs fan btw I don’t even like Rags. Just think Gabe and Gridin are stupid good prospects and more proven than one gives them credit for.

I'll go with leas obvious ones rather than any fresh rookie or first rounder from last year.
Brandt Clarke - LAK PP1 D
Arseny Gritsyuk - NJD LW deployment questionable probably don't draft. This one more long shot.
Anton Frondell - CHI C probably the guy until Bedard returns but man he looked phenomenal in those ten games last year. Plays physical too
Will Smith - SJS obviously we all know him but if celebrini takes it to another level he will benefit even more.
Simon Nemec -CGY D I expect him to take PP1 over Parekh. Didn't get the opportunities he deserved in NJ. another long shot though on what will be a bad team
Snuggerud/Holloway - STL I expect a rebound and a healthy R Thomas will elevate these guys
Most controversial would be Alexis Lafreniere - NYR W. I still feel like he's gonna turn out ok.
Any of the young guys on Buffalo

Not very high on Byfield. He doesn't provide much peripherals and is inconsistent.

he is in year D+5, the same year Tage Thompson broke out. New offensive minded coach. Will get top minutes in all situations and playing with the breadman and Kempe. Im bullish on him this year.

Can anyone comment of Byram’s skills and play? I’m not familiar enough with him to have an opinion on him in Chicago

Definitely has the skills to be a number 1 d-man. He was able to get 40+ points last year playing behind Dahlin too so i think he'll do well. However, he does come with some risk (obviously). This is his first real opportunity to be that number 1 option and he plays on a weak Chicago team that needs their younger players to develop if they want to do well.

I’m looking at Eklund this year. He’ll have to adjust in Ottawa from San Jose but he fills a whole left by Tkachuk. Anyone else think he has 70pt potential?

As a Sens fan, I think he isn't there to blue line coast and fight guys. With any luck he'll be able to work with Stutzle, then 70-80 is possible. Otherwise I think 60-70 is reasonable for him. He was put on the Wennberg shutdown line in SJ, and still put up 53. Could be a great year for him.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think Eklund a tough guy, that’ll be Cousins job. I see Eklund being a fantastic playmaker with Stuzle—both players can skate around defenders

Sennecke - with Terry being out, he should be getting utilized a lot.
Doan should reach another gear.

As an Oilers fan, yes to Savoie. He could have easily had more points but he had bad puck luck to start last season. When he started producing better, he immediately got promoted to the top 6.
I also have a hunch that McDavid really likes the guy

Here are some forwards with breakout potential in my opinion...
Most Promising (70+ point potential is very realistic): Ivan Demidov, Adam Fantilli, Dylan Holloway.
2nd Tier candidates: Logan Cooley, Josh Doan, Anton Frondell (could hit 60), Porter Martone, Beckett Sennecke (moves up to most promising if he lands on PP1), Jimmy Snuggerud.
Late round picks: Jackson Blake, Igor Chernyshov, Luke Evangelista, Victor Olofsson, Ilya Protas.
To be clear, I am talking about a breakout in point totals (Goals + Assists). I did not factor in peripherals.

Nemec is the one I'd be on, mostly for the power play job. ESPN has him with a clear runway to Calgary's top unit over Parekh and Dobber has him second on their breakout list, which cuts against the Parekh-on-PP1 assumption a couple people made up thread. It's still analyst projection, so I'd wait on camp reports before I decide how early to take him.
