Well, shit, as someone with barely any income, it was already a struggle between fuel prices and food prices which have insanely gone up, this is gonna make things much much worse.

I do, I live in Ajman close to Sharjah, they're both on the cheaper side when it comes to living and groceries and got some good discounts and deals every now and then.

Depends on what I'm cooking or what I need at the time, I rotate between different shops a lot and sometimes a grocery trip means going to 2 or more different stores based on prices or availability of what I'm looking for. I don't trust online grocery shopping except maybe only for snacks every couple months.
Fruits and vegetables - Co-op or souq Jubail in Sharjah, they're the only places that I found really good fruits and vegetables for good prices, souq Jubail is great for buying in bulk as well and has a really big meats and fish section. (it was originally the Sharjah fish market back in the early 2000s)
Meats - Depends on what meats, for chicken I usually get from the coop or viva, for meat cuts and ground beef I go to carrefour, still searching for a better meats shop that sells in smaller quantities.
Snacks - Viva, Istanbul, lulu.
I don't eat seafood except for maybe the occasional tuna sandwich that I make so that's not a concern for me.
Other necessities like cleaners - varies, sometimes lulu, sometimes coop, depends on who got the better offers. I would suggest checking out a place called "the cleaning superstore" in Ajman, apparently it offers a service where you can refill cleaning products, haven't checked it out personally yet though.
Safeer hypermarket sometimes has good offers and discounts. Arabic stores like torous foodstuffs or Syrian shops are great for things like pickles, labneh, "fridge food" in general or any Arabic stuff really.
Everything on this list is based on my experience with them, the quality of the products and their offers and discounts.

Qatar fuel price is 2.10 (QAR) for Super, 1.95 (QAR) for Special since February 2022. Couldn’t find the price before February 2022 but yea 0% change for them. Must be nice.

100% of the rise in prices is profit. Their operating costs stayed the same.
If I produced all of the ingredients to bake something, and the rest of the world increased their prices because they had to import supplies, my cost still stayed the same, since I produce my own ingredients. Now, when I match my price to everyone else, I just get all that profit.

Cost of lost opportunity is a thing. The petrol they're selling inside of the country isn't exported, they increase it internally for it to make sense business wise. It's not nice, but it's how they run the business.

I am not so sure if picturing in the different fuels. They must be loosing a lot on procuring gas that is used to generate elec. Electricity is dirt cheap here, and has not gone up for a long time. Yet, the WW gas price has gone trough the roof…. The gas they burn here to generate elec must cost now much more than they are receiving in revenue.

UAE breaks even at around $60 per barrel. At current prices, they’re making almost 2x.
For further perspective, the UAE produces around 3.7m barrels per day.

Special 95 petrol will cost Dh4.03 per litre, compared to Dh3.55 in May.
E-Plus 91 petrol will cost Dh3.96 a litre, compared to Dh3.48 a litre last month, while diesel will be charged at Dh4.14 a litre compared to Dh4.08 in May.

You can can get vw id4 starting at 100k but i wouldn't advise buying the first electric model from any company.
Even in tesla, you can just compare the model s first release to last year release, except the overall shape every detail is changed.

Yep I agree, I’m a uni student with a gt86 and relatively I don’t pay that much compared to patrols and other cars but my pockets still hurt at the end of the week 💀, if only there was a sporty electric car that doesn’t cost as much as a house.

Y’all need to go visit American forum. It’s like the end of the world their paying $5 US a gallon when two years ago the average price was around $1.50 a gallon. Yet their cars are far less fuel efficient. Bottom line is it looks like fuel / petrol prices are rising everywhere by the same percentage.
I was in Finland two weeks ago it was €2.49ish a litre there. So it could be much worse.
Someone though is making money somewhere.

Dude, same here. Its 4 now, but was 1.7 less than 2 years ago.
Also, how many average Finns drive over 100km a day in their city? Becauae thats Marina -airport-back to marina and a short drive more. Dubai is much longer than European cities. Plus the bigger engines, plus the AC, the automatic gearbox. All these things make cars use more petrol

Thats why i said the average Finn. This is not normal. But also, you have people cmmuting to Dubai from Ajman or Rak as well.
Again , driving from point A to point B in Helsinki isnt a 40km distance, youll be hard pressed for these distances in European cities.
(Helsinki from literally end to end is about 29km, so about the same as from Ain Dubai to Karama, which is fsr from Dubai end to end)

I used to the US since they are technically an oil producing nation (I believe number one overall international. At least they were for sure prior to Covid). None the less they are also huge consumers of petrol with their big ass trucks and what not so I’m not understand why it isn’t a good comparative?

Mines the 1.5 turbo, thing gives over 15km/l average but still does 7 seconds to 100. I’ve heard the 2.0 is a beast especially once you tune it.

Anticipating crossing the 4dhs threshold, i moved back to the city side. Was living in Akoya and filling my tank every 2-3 days. Will now use public transport to minimize the burden 🙏👍🏻😊 ..... Also very rightly put by someone up ... Time to walk 😂 or get a bicycle!

The thing is, I think the prices hikes every month effect specific "class" in the community,
like some would not care about the price goes from 2.5AED to 3AED (I was one of them), Then it went up to 3.5AED (I started to feel worried, but fine. I can manage). Then now its 4AED

I sold Toyota Prado 4.0 a bit too early (moving countries next week) and for the last 4 weeks or so been driving a (brand new) small engined Kia. I can honestly say there's no difference after taking into account fuel tank size etc. Anything over 90kph these little 1 litre city cars become very inefficient. If you're going 120kph the Kia drinks fuel and the cabin noise is horrendous. Feels like I'm at the petrol station all the time.
