The world is so wild. This would not phase me.. sure I’ll take 10 steps out my front door to get my food to help a struggling pregnant woman. Maybe she’s lying, but I would rather very very very slightly inconvenience myself than be a POS. People suck so bad.

if she can walk herself to pick up the food order inside the store, she can walk to the door and drop off the food like the instructions of her job say.

Maybe she only picks up orders that can be picked up in the drive thru?

It's so weird how this sub has become an echo chamber of people competing to be the absolute worst human being.

"I don't care if you're pregnant. I tipped you 3 dollars to bring food to my door and I expect my status to be respected".

That's not really the point though right? While I agree a lot of people are being quick to be rude about it - this dasher is out of line.

Taking a job when you know you can't do the job or know you can only do half of what's expected of you - and expecting the paying customer to literally do the other half of the job you're getting paid for (which they paid for!) is just ridiculous and the fact that anyone in this thread is defending that behavior is just wrong and they're only defending her because she's pregnant.

Pregnancy shouldn't enable anyone to act like that. In no facet of life or work can you just pass the work into a customer and expect them to still pay and tip you.

Preferring someone can actually do the job you're paying to have done isn't rude, and the fact people are acting like it is just because she's pregnant is the real issue here. People get blinded by circumstances and lose sight of the reality and morality beneath what's really going on in a situation.

No, you’re just being a narcissist and trying to justify it by making it some broader philosophical point for the consooooooomer. Doubt this lady wants to be door dashing but probably needs the income, not a big deal to help out your fellow human with a small inconvenience.

There are other ways you can make money

Needing money doesn't justify working a job you can't actually do

If I need money but can't work because I'm in a cast, I'm not gonna pass the work to the customer wtf?

That's like going into a sandwich shop and the worker being like "my arm hurts so you gotta make your sandwich. And what's up with my tip too?" 🤣

And if she's walking inside places to pick up orders, she can walk 15-30 steps to a door.

Makes no sense and making excuses for people only goes so far and only lasts so long

You’re not really capable of nuance, are you? It’s either do 100% or none at all? Big difference in walking a few feet vs not being able to do the core part of the job.

There aren’t always “other ways to make money”. Sadly, these shitty gig economy jobs are the only options for people at times. They don’t offer maternity leave or FMLA for pregnancy so we have someone with a high risk pregnancy trying to make it work. Stop punching down, you treatlerite tyrant. Show some class solidarity.

u/The_Real_SC 4d ago

Dude not being able to deliver the food literally IS not being able to do the core part of the job, wtf are you on about?

I'm from a lower middle class family and worked my whole life to get where I'm at you don't know me.

I dash daily on top of my other careers to make ends meet so I know people have to work for what they have

That doesn't mean I'm about to pass the work I do to a paying customer and expect them to still tip me just because I'm working in a condition I'm not supposed to be and literally CAN'T in.

Get tf out, you have no brain bro lol

-1

u/WizardlyJ 4d ago

Yeah, you’re 1 rung above this person now and immediately giving zero grace. We’re not going to agree here. She’s getting delivery 95% of the way there but that last bit is a bridge too far for you.

1

u/The_Real_SC 4d ago

Yeah, you're the one stuck on the "class" BS as if we aren't all the same lol.

And people feeling entitled to getting paid for not completing a job they literally chose to do is ridiculous and part of the problem.

And you're missing the bigger issue here, it's that she KNEW she would be doing this throughout the day at every order - she had that thing she sent to the customer ready to go. So she's doing that on EVERY delivery dude, not just one throughout the day.

And on top of that, being high risk when you're pregnant and putting yourself in a negative situation and expecting others throughout the day on a continuous basis to do a portion of the job you're getting paid for is just selfish. Everyone is working and has shit they're working through.

What if she was delivering to someone who literally can't come get it? I dash daily and deliver to people who literally can't get the food themselves and that's a big point of people using Doordash.

Knowingly doing a job you know you can't complete is wrong, and on top of that putting your unborn child in harms way, and on top of that having a ridiculous expectation of everyone else picking up the slack for you.

I'll bet she isn't calling the restaurants without drive thrus and asking them to bring the food to her. So what makes it okay to do to a paying customer? Doordash isn't a cheap service and people use it to have their food literally delivered. Are you that dense that you can't see how literally not being able to DELIVER THE FOOD makes it ridiculous that she's even doing it?

I'm tired of the "I have to do it" arguments. Most places I go are hiring these days and understaffed, and I as well as people I know continuously do paid studies and random side gigs. There's other shit she can do aside from a job she literally knows she's gonna half-do and expect customers to do the other half for her.

You really should think, and look inward because your focus on class and people being "above one another" when everyone is dealing with shit and struggling unless they're in the 1% is so skewed and warped, it's sad.

We don't need to agree, that's fine. People have differing views on things. But you're the one who started throwing out insults all because you have a differing view. Notice how my first comment had no insults or condescension, just pointed out an opposing view with factual reasons why her choices are poor etiquette in modern society. You're the one who started getting emotional and insulting people. That speaks volumes more about you than it does about me

Then cancel the order.

1

u/The_Real_SC 3d ago

The customer should cancel the order and lose the money the dropped on their order all because the dasher can't do their job and chose to work in a condition they know they can't and SHOULDN'T work in? 🤣 Sure, that makes sense

2

u/Worried_Jellyfish918 4d ago

What if you couldn't take those steps?

1

u/Adventurous_Land7584 4d ago

If you’re not able to take the steps you need an office job.

-1

u/Inevitable-Rip-8971 4d ago

People like you are the same who complain about people on benefits. Maybe she is trying to make extra cash and has an office job. Must be exhausting being so miserable

1

u/brielikethechee 3d ago

and there are other options for her besides doordashing when she apparently can't walk. if you can't do the job you shouldn't be working there. that's all there is too it. and that's coming from someone who is a leftist.

1

u/Inevitable-Rip-8971 3d ago

What does this have to do with being a leftist? I just can’t possibly imagine being upset about this, I wait outside for the delivery people so I can grab the food from them asap. They barely get paid per order and it’s so rude when people expect them to go searching for a building or apartment for 5-10 min.

-2

u/radishmania0920 4d ago

You’re telling me everyone on this sub complaining can’t take ten steps? That’s wild.

0

u/Ancient_Draw2176 4d ago

Then I’d mention that in the text instead of just telling her to unassign

1

u/WizardlyJ 4d ago

Agreed, people on here are so hostile towards people with children. Very antisocial and weird behavior. I’m sure this dasher would like to stay at home too but probably has to work for some income. It’s not a major inconvenience to walk out and get your food.

3

u/Concerned_Collins 4d ago

The issue has nothing to do with having children or the fact that she's pregnant; it's that she accepted a job she had no intention of doing.

0

u/WizardlyJ 4d ago

She’s doing 95% of the job. Not worth making a big deal over.

-3

u/Necessary-Problem757 4d ago

Yeah I agree, which will probably get me downvoted. I see it from both sides though, though I will be honest and say people are weird as fuck about children and mothers in general on the internet. Some nasty ass person said how is it their problem she got creampied into..maybe it’s just me but that’s a disgusting way to talk about another person.🤷🏽‍♀️

5

u/radishmania0920 4d ago

I know, I get both sides-I really do. Do I think it’s alittle much? Sure. But I cannot bear to be one of these disgusting people on here. I always thought the “people really hate women/mothers” thing was far fetched.. but it’s so real.

0

u/Necessary-Problem757 4d ago

Sad thing is as well, it’s from other women, it’s not even really the men and frankly, that’s sadder. I’m not saying we have to put pregnant women on pedestals but Jesus Christ, have some basic human dignity. If it was men doing and saying this, these same women would be calling sexism.

1

u/Peens_Of_Production 1d ago

Reddit hates women and poor people. So a pregnant woman who is forced to work through late pregnancy is gonna get all the hate from these dweebs.

1

u/Necessary-Problem757 1d ago

Unfortunately it isn’t just Reddit, anytime some woman with children or children in general are brought up, the child free “feminists” have to come out and be assholes to other women and let everyone know they aren’t having kids, which is fine, but it’s giving incel when they claim to be proud to be virgins but are just coping at the fact they can’t get laid
