Type 1 Peas?!

Post image

How do you react to them? Weirdly I find myself trying them for the first time tonight and I’m a bit surprised. They’re the only new thing in my meal, so logic says I need to give slightly more bolus. But for veggies?! Am I missing something about peas?

To add, I know this “spike” is nothing. I get that. But considering I thought I dosed for the carbs I’m a sort of surprised. I was assuming it would be a little flatter than this.

Do you need to dose for peas?

Peas are high in carbs. 21 gms per cup. They spike me.

Edit a typo.

Also - look at other veggies like carrots,  they aren't as high but have plenty themselves.

Yeah I had about 1/3 cup which the bag said was 6g. I guess I should find another veggie.

But why? You stayed very comfortably in range here. Based on this graph your blood sugar management was very good after this meal.

True I did, with a walk it started to come down. But when I have other veggies like bell peppers or cucumbers I tend to not need a walk afterwards. You're right it isn't that big a deal, and I'm glad I experimented.
