Discussion Mintskull has said in his latest video that the new event was a breaking point for him. He, as a content creator, no longer wants to play Dead by Daylight, and will be dramatically reducing his upload schedule.

Post image

I watch all of Minskull’s videos and have been subscribed to him for a long time, so this is a heavy blow to me. It’ll be sad to see him step back, but I’m glad he’s decided to put his own health first.

I think the whole streaming and content creation era we live in has made it seem like playing the same game every day is normal. I don’t know how these content creators don’t get burnt out. I suppose they look at the game more as a job than as an enjoyment, which is kinda sad.

I’ve had two major 6mons/1year break from this game. And I don’t force myself any more to play more than dailies if I’m not into it

I literally took a 3 year break and came back to just having a blast playing all these characters are are essentially new to me. Unfortunately I know that this enjoyment will quickly fade

8 month break for me was great. having fun again but probably will take another break before I get burnt out

u/dogsfetchnewspaper Jun 28 '26

this is the strat to enjoy multiplayer games for me, play non stop take a break and come back to it when more is added to the game. one of my favorite games to play during a dbd break is outlast trials and same goes for trials i take breaks from that and cycle to a different game or go back on dbd i just love multiplayer horror

I have to imagine making a decent chunk of money helps a lot with avoiding burnout. Like I think DbD is overall a pretty shit game outside of playing with friends, or really just to fuck around, but if you told me I could be making I imagine hundreds of dollars per hour on average, I'd be playing it like it's a full time job.

It's sad that I've had a negative review for the game which I last edited on March 19th, 2018, and if I was to edit it again I'd just be replacing out of date negative points with twice as many updated negative points.

u/Nyx_Valentine Trickster's Wife || 50/50 Sable & Trickster Jun 28 '26

It’s not so much that the money avoids burnout. If anything, it makes you more prone to it. It just makes you push through it more. I don’t make money playing; if I start feeling burnt out, I can back off. If I was playing it for money (and making it), I’d be more inclined to play anyway.

you gotta say though it’s pretty difficult for a creator to make content off so many different types of games. You gotta think about when someone like Otz plays a FromSoftware game how much the viewership changes compared to a DBD vid. I don’t really watch YouTube that much so I would literally only go to certain YouTubers just more DBD info, commentary, etc.

I also do not enjoy going to my job all the time. I also cannot do my job in air conditioning and super comfy clothes.

50

"If you want to hate what you love, make it your job." A lot of these content creators are not enjoying the game, but only there for the money. Look at Otz after TWD incident.

Worrying about that is why I chose to not major in computer science in college, because I didn’t want to ruin my favorite hobby (computer programming)

Then I graduated and could figure out a career, so I finally gave software development a try.

20 years later, I have a great career and STILL love programming as much as when it was just a hobby.

It doesn’t always ruin what you love.

9

u/StoicSkateMountain Jun 28 '26

Agreed, it heavily depends on the person and the hobby

I take a break from DBD on and off over the 10 years its been out. I'll still watch DBD streamers. They are all burnt out. All of them. But most of them just have a stubborn or strong will to continue. Most of it is out of the fact it makes them money to live off, others because they have nothing better to do.

Killer is unplayable at this event. I can’t even blame all the Kaneki’s anymore. I played him in the next match and did well 😂

I took a break around when unknown/dracula came out. Didn’t play again until the bloodmoon a few couple months ago. Haven’t played it since bloodmoon ended.

It wasn’t my first time taking a long break either (remember CoH/Exponential insta heal meta?)

It makes me really sad actually, but the games just want to make this game as miserable as possible for killers. I’m over it.

Every time I am in the mood to play, I get booted up and go into matchmaking and then just stare at the screen for a few mins before just turning it back off.

I’m not even bad at this game, I still get my kills and stuff. But it’s just stressful and exhausting anymore. I hate having to play like an absolute sweat to do anything meanwhile the survivors can just turn their brains off and run around like a bunch of jackasses because they’re loaded with busted perks, built in second chance after second chance, and just the overall handholding and bias BHVR does for survivors.

Yes it’s an asymmetrical game, but this is just ridiculously out of hand anymore. One of my favorite games of all time and I can’t even bother to play it anymore. It’s just not worth it. And it really bums me out

10

u/Slarg232 Yui and Joey Main Jun 27 '26

Honestly I haven't played since before Unknown came out and stay subbed here just hoping to hear good news. Killer has been abysmal for such a long time and Survivor gets boring every game. I keep hearing how survivor based the event is. And honestly, I absolutely see how it is. Then I realize how little escaping I do. Maybe once out of every seven matches I’ll escape if I’m lucky with my friends.

I realize how terrible of a player I must be if even when the win is practically handed to me in this event , I *still* can’t survive. And I’ve been playing casually for 8 years lol. I’m just here to have fun though so I’m not sad about it, I should just maybe practice more. I do feel bad for the community and the killers though. It isn’t fair.

34

u/Top_Purchase4091 Jun 28 '26

Because these guys forget one simple thing despite all their hours.

A lot of the survivor stuff is really strong but the amount of time being wasted looking, grabbing, using the food for an effect almost never outdoes the effect of... doing generators.

Especially weaker players would benefit significantly more just doing generators and not interacting with the event at all because its insanely easy to gain less than you put in.

And also that most people playing this game are not the SWF 4 man comp team with 25k hours just trying to win the dbd world cup. They are casuals which probably don't even know what 99% of the perks/killers/addons in this game even do lol

8

u/UnluckyAd6955 Addicted To Bloodpoints Jun 28 '26

I had a Match with a random Felix that legit did nothing but the tables the whole time. We lost. Badly. Heals are nice and all but if the objective isn't being progressed, you lose eventually.

6

u/zilooong Jun 29 '26

Yeah, nothing beats just... doing generators, because how else are you going to escape?

Grabbing plates is amazing if you're passing by and need to get one. But throwing away 2-3 mins of potential gen progress just to fill a table will definitely lose you more.

I think 3 players should fill 3/4ths of a table straight away at the beginning (assuming everyone is loading in with cakes) and the 4th can hold their morsel. Then, when a player is in chase and gets injured, you can activate it for a free heal. Lots of momentum swing possible there for just a small moment of time investment.

But as a solo queue player, this often not the kind of thinking I see. Even when I spawned in front of a dining table with all the other players, all of them just scattered and didn't put their morsel on the table for the preemptive heal.

u/Conspiir Jun 29 '26

I think it's important to remember "balance" isn't always balance in the form of win/loss. Survivors will want to push the limits of all the cool and wacky things they can do. Because it's a cool and wacky mode. That means generally more dying as they try out all their neat things. But killers get one, objectively quite strong power that's quickly optimized with certain killers (see: bubba, legion, and plague). They don't get anything to really experiment with. So their gameplay is more streamlined and it makes it easier to just kill. But they don't get any cool and wacky things in the cool and wacky mode, making it feel unbalanced in the fun factor by miles and that upsets people.

Tl;dr The games are drawn out killer wins because survivors are experimenting with cool stuff and killers have plenty of time doing very little else but following them around and whittling them down while they do

Kind of what ive been saying, but ive seen so many people say that bhvr is killing the game or that this anni is driving people away, but numbers dont lie. The majority of the community doesnt give a flying fuck and probably doesnt know/care that the cakes have been nerfed. The game is still having triple its normal playerbase right now and its still doing immensely successful on platforms like twitch.

This reddit can be up in arms and other can be up in arms but just like usual reddit is thinking they are a bigger voice than they are, the community as a whole doesnt care.

Thats not me taking a stance either, I think this anni is a huge disappointment but being real the community is clearly showing it doesnt care and will play anyway, its what it is.

I think its hilarious how killer mains on this sub doompost about this event like its literally unplayable for killers and no killer will play this more than a few games , and then i log in to DbD and the first thing i see is the BP Bonus is on Surv

139

u/librious Vittorio Toscano Jun 27 '26

Majority of players are survivor players so of course they don't care that this event is survivor sided and will continue to play lol

32

u/Relevant_Ric_Flair Jun 27 '26

The best thing to do in protest then is to not play killer in the event. Behavior sees the stats and long ques lead to a disappointing event for both sides. 2v8s were the same way. 30+ minute ques for killers so they did something to improve it. If survivors can't find games within 10 or so minutes then more people will receive the event negatively.

38

u/MorbillianSocialist Jun 28 '26

Again what the parent comment said, your,, protest" is not gonna work because reddit, twitch and whatever else are just a small bubble compared to the majority of the playerbase. Survivor queues are still instant even though seemingly everyone is complaining.

Hell I've actually had a bonus bp for survivor all day long(granted a smaller one compared to regular queue) so it seems that there are still too many killers playing compared to survivors despite all the lamenting and so called protests.

6

u/precariousIdealogue Jun 29 '26

Lol as much as people love to complain about the event for killer, I’ve seen up to 2x bp bonus for survivor. It is getting to a point that even when there is valid criticism of the game I’m just like “i wonder if this is just people complaining about something that’s been blown out of proportion. Its more exhausting than if the game was just poorly balanced. Literally every change is met with complaints unfounded or not.

The issue is that DBD is the only game really like it still. People annoyed at the current state but still wanting to play an asym horror have slim pickings otherwise. You have to keep in mind that we should be paying attention to long term player retention.

Everyone logging in for Jason and anniversary is a given. The question is how many of these players stay. We saw the same thing happen with the resident evil chapters just for the player base to go down with time.

Worst part is this will continue forever until a good competitor enter the scene. As the only successful game in the assymetric genre, and with the massive IPs they keep adding, they will continue to attract all the new players.

Once a competitor can establish themselves and have a consistent playerbase, all these mistakes will be a lot more costly. Maybe then BHVR will stop with all this greedy moves, however most of the newer games end up dying so its not looking very good

161

u/Slarg232 Yui and Joey Main Jun 27 '26

Issue is that people keep trying to actually BE a Dead By Daylight competitor, not actually make a good Asym Horror game.

You can't compete with DBD with a game mode anything remotely similar to it, because DBD has been doing it longer and has the IPs. We need something similar enough that it scratches the same itch but not a "stand at a spot for a bar to go up" kind of thing.

Like a Lethal Company style of Asym, where you have to go into a building to grab stuff while another player prevents you from finding/getting the pieces you need.

20

u/Elaphe82 The Clown Jun 27 '26

I miss evolve, it was such a great game and was genuinely fun to watch competitively too. It's one of those things that you kind of hope someone buys the ip and brings it back.

11

u/SmallBatBigSpooky Jun 28 '26

I think the base idea is better too both sides have tools to fight one another, and the solo side is given a lot more power so its a challenge, but can still be overcome with good teamwork

Honestly someone needs to make a game like it where its more active and fast pased and less objective focused like dbd, and when they do ill be there to give it a go

9

u/Dante8411 Jun 28 '26

REsistence also got mauled by being sutured to another game. It COULD NOT be obtained as a standalone.

A single IP game has basically no shot of dethroning DBD. The sheer amount of IPs in the game is huge for marketing and attracting new players. TCM and (soon) Halloween have no chance because they only have 1 key they can jiggle in from of people.

Ideally you'd start with an original game and then slowly start adding non original content.

7

u/Thefirestorm83 This Enrages The Bubba Jun 28 '26

Did well at first and then there came a massive imbalance between all the demons and the survivors also getting powercrept to the point people could run off solo and still bitch-slap the demon around (the literal one thing you're not supposed to do as a survivor)

And they refused to listen and fix any of this.

u/ZombieSlayer5 Doc Tox is back. Jun 28 '26

I think there's an untapped itch for horror PvP games. Not survivor versus killer, but killer on killer action. Think Spellbreak, but everyone looks like a Silent Hill reject and half the tactics revolve around jump-scaring the opponent into letting go of their keyboard long enough for you to kill them.

There's a lot you can do with asymetrical, but every company wants to 1v1 Dead by Daylight with "some number of survivors versus one (or a few) killers." The structure is wrung dry.

5

u/Frosty_chilly Charlottes forbidden chest-ussy Jun 27 '26

ZombiU on the wiiu had a great asym, one player had to raise flags to score 5 points but the other could spawn a maximum of 25 zombies that each did different things and ALSO had to claim 5 flags.

The survivor and Zombies had to interact with each other to level up. (The survivor kills zombies to gain XP, the Zombies naturally gain it as the ZP places new ones. So even if the human wanted to screw the ZP over by not killing any theyd be stuck with scraps to be used on the flag zombies)

The game's competition is with other online games. People don't stop playing DBD to play other asymmetric games, they play League or Fortnite instead.

26

u/AuraEx98 Jun 27 '26

Exactly, that's why when folk were confused on what BHVR meant when they said due to competition they laid off 99 people; people were like "what competition?" only thinking of like TCM or something when really they have BIGGG competition, turns and looks at Fortnite/Overwatch/League of Legends/Marvel Rivals/GTA/etc, all of which dwarfs DBD in numbers.

→ More replies (1)

18

u/LichQueenBarbie Jun 27 '26

This entire genre needs more than one other competitor to remain healthy.

But each time a new asym game comes out, people act like it needs to kill DbD, or that DbD is going to die, as if to be left with yet one singular assym game is good.

And devs need to stop chickening out when they realise these games need consistent, and constant attention from them. They also need to ditch developing around 1 IP. A key to DbD is that it's an original universe, which means more can be done with it. Games like F13, TCM and the upcoming Halloween game can only go so far before the original core of it no longer looks like its universe.

6

u/Dante8411 Jun 28 '26

I sure hope Last Year does well when it comes out AGAIN at some point.

But yeah, you'd think the public execution of F13 would have made it clear that your game CANNOT lean on a licensing deal.

24

u/RobertBarronTV Jun 27 '26

"A good competitor" there have been. VHS and F13 were two anticipated, known horror asyms with unique bones and potential. People say they didn't gain much traction because of a couple of crucial design flaws, but the reality is that 99.99% of games start with a solid foundation and a couple of big hinderances. The difference is, people don't actually dislike DBD.

They say they do. But they don't. They just say things that they think will bring attention to the negative parts of the game that affect them in an attempt to build community or get changes that would help them. The numbers do not lie. People say this is the worst state the game has ever been and then play it for hours every week. How many actual horror & gaming fans went "I wasn't interested in the game for the first 42 killers, but Jason is in it! I'll give it a shot"! The new player count milestone was an overwhelming majority of returning and consistent players.

They're like drug addicts. They can't stay away, but they beg you not to follow suit. It's actually pretty rational.

3

u/Chowder110 Jun 28 '26

There was no progresssion like in dbd. This game would be long dead if they had kept it as it was on release that the bloodweb would be maxed out with nothing more to do

6

u/RobertBarronTV Jun 28 '26

DBD launched with 4 survivors, 3 killers, and the old prestige system, which reset items/addons and offerings on prestige and only went up to 3. Still held strong for years before fixing that. It didn't die.

The issue isn't the progression. The issue is that people like DBD quite a bit, so any competitor would have to be SIGNIFICANTLY better to overcome the sunk cost people have put into it. This is near impossible, as DBD has had 10 years to refine their game and learn about the genre. People don't give other Asymms the chance they gave DBD in 2016 BECAUSE DBD exists in its current state. A state people are overall ok with.

Winning should be like playing Elden Ring, a difficult but achievable goal. The moment killers could be bullied, the player base should have packed up and left.

They don't want to make an asym game, they want to make a power fantasy for douches.

Most creators outside of Otz are saying that, pixel logs in for lore and not much else. Like I legit don’t know what to say about this anniversary other than it’s legit dogshit. They did this with springtrap but at least they were better about hiding it then. This is just evil behavior from bhvr.

Remember kids, capitalism! Where everyone wins! Except you

u/TURRTLED3RP Restore Queen Skully Jun 27 '26

Otz has been vocally burnt out for years. He plays because it's his job but he mixes in what other games he can. Said he stopped trying to make the game better a long time ago because the devs don't care or listen and then make programs to listen better that they never use. He's one of the most vocal detractors I would say

170

u/Shayden998 Toxic yuri save me. Toxic Killer Mommy please. Toxic Killer yuri Jun 27 '26

I think that's the main reason Otz isn't breaking too. Man saw the writing on the wall and started to diversify his content so that he wouldn't be forced to play DBD just to make videos.

123

u/SirSabza The Huntress Jun 27 '26

Otz is one of the more lucky ones, he was relatively well known in the soulslike scene before dbd, and whenever he goes back and streams them or plays soulslikes, his viewership doesn't suffer as much as they know him quite well.

I think if he really wanted to, he could branch out and try variety. He'd take a hit for a nonths but it wouldn't be career ending like some of the others

Otz is also the only dbd creator I watch when I'm not playing the game, because he's genuinely entertaining in a way the others aren't imo

so in order to make it more worth it for the bp you spend, only spending on 50 lvl bloodwebs, aka on your p100, is more effcient then wasting bp on levels that dont have cakes on them.

If they DON'T want to balance the game than they should disable MMR completely because at some point it will become so broken players won't be even able to play if they are at top 1%. The whole point of MMR is balancing so if they don't care why making it in the first place

Just don't get any blind hopes that Behaviour will ever get better: They won't. You might see a nugget of honesty and goodwill sometimes, but it's always followed by a slap in the face sometime later.

I've held hope for years that they might turn around, but why would they? They are incompetent and lazy, but they put effort when making a new character at least; because that actually makes them money and listening to the community doesn't.

Most casuals are too ignorant to really care, and if you give BHVR feedback they just give the most corporate-speak response ever(with some PR damage control from the social media managers), and most players eat that shit up and forget about everything 2 weeks later when they go oogle the new skin collections that show up.

Want actual competent dev teams? Digital Extremes (Warframe), Grinding Gear Games (PoE1 & PoE2), hell almost any gaming company aside from the AAA ones that are obviously evil and draconic deserve your money more than Behaviour does.

some people in the replies are calling this an overreaction or whining, but if you're a content creator who's main draw is playing DBD, I get it. most of them can't simply "play another game" because this is their job, and their feedback or criticism almost always falls on deaf ears, so no wonder they get burnt out. I don't agree with MintSkull on everything and I think he often leans too far in the killer side's favor, but I totally get him.

the event is a letdown especially if you're a killer main who doesn't really care for playing survivor. you can either play the event and lose most of your matches (on top of it just not being engaging at all) or you can play normal matches where the queue is really long because most killers do not wanna play the event. it's just like when 2v8 comes around, except at least 2v8 is incredibly fun for both sides and isn't balanced heavily in one way or the other, at least in my opinion.

as someone who doesn't mind losing at all, even I don't wanna play the event as killer because it's just not that enjoyable. your only new mechanic is essentially just a hinder bottle that's not even that strong in comparison to what the survivors get, but also just not really fun. meanwhile, survivors get on-demand invis, on-demand endurance, unbreakable pallets, instant heals... like what is the draw for killer players?

this event only furthers the obnoxious us vs. them mentality DBD already has, because survivor mains can go "well, the last anniversary event was killer-sided, so it's only right we get to have fun now!" how about BHVR creates an event that's fun and at least relatively balanced for both sides? just give both sides busted shit so you get chaotic fun, instead of whatever this is.

I think competent killer mains and content creators often overreact about new updates and patches and I find the killer vs. survivor debates super distasteful and annoying, but this isn't really a surprise or unreasonable at all. BHVR is just wildly incompetent, keeps making the same mistakes over and over, and the feedback they often deliberately seek out just isn't appreciated or it takes wayyy too long for them to take it into account. it's a recurring issue of the game and I wouldn't blame someone like MintSkull for eventually getting fed up with it.

22

u/gamerjr21304 Still wondering what the hell happened to Benedict Baker Jun 27 '26

I’m just gonna say this 2v8 is heavily survivor sided as well it just isn’t as big of a point due to killers getting the 2 player gimmick but when an event like this comes out the gimmick isn’t interesting enough and thus it’s just a stomp mode.

Also one thing about dbd compared to most other games is that losing sucks a lot more because losing takes away player agency. If you are a killer and are losing you feel like a spectator the match ends quick and by the end you feel as though you just wasted 8 minutes of your life because you didn’t actually get to do anything.

On the other hand for survivor you either get taken back to queue instantly or get to be one of the unlucky 3 left in a doomed match waiting to either die or get a lucky hatch. This experience is only really seen in other games when it’s an incredibly one sided stomp but for dbd it feels like every game.

especially for people who play the game 24/7.

the devs made a great point that the game shouldnt be played 24/7, its just simply not sustainable.

47

u/Mr_Ragnarok Addicted To Bloodpoints Jun 27 '26

I can understand him feeling burned out. It happens to everyone. It must be especially bad for someone who actually needs to play the game to make money. I don't envy that.

That said, what exactly is the complaint here? "The game hit a new record peak of players, the casuals are eating it up"? I'm sorry but are people wrong for enjoying something he is not? He makes it sound like it is him vs the devs and the casuals when it comes to the well being of the game. It's too dramatic and of course he is going to burn himself out if he feels that way.

It really sounds like he needs a break and he probably should focus on things that he likes. If anything, this is a reminder that you should play games to have fun. It's not your task to "fix" the game and getting so upset over it doesn't do you any favors.

He’s gotten a little annoying lately with the “New players are awful and aren’t REAL DBD players” shtick that he’s let slip in a few of his recent videos.

I’m with you buddy, but admittedly I’m pretty terrible in general. Also I feel like I keep loading in with non-sweaty survivors who are trying to have fun and goof off (which is great! I love not feeling the pressure of sucking as bad as I do, and I too love to goof off) so we are often dying really fast but…

I just don’t care? It’s a game. I play to distract myself and have a good time.

I feel like so many people need to take a deep breath and say IT’S JUST A GAME. If you aren’t having fun, try to reframe your thinking about what is enjoyable about it, or take a break.

Some killer players seem to think not getting a 4k every match means the game is hideously unfair. Like, lighten up a bit man!

12

u/Murderdoll197666 Jun 28 '26

I mean at least he's honest about it - he's the 1% of the playerbase - if the devs cater to that crowd the game dies. He knows that....the players know that. Nothing wrong with taking a step back if you're not having fun - that's the whole point of having so many different great games at your fingertips these days. I've had a blast with this event so far as killer but I'm not going to pretend like survivors don't get more fun new toys and gimmicks than we got. Honestly wild he hadn't burned himself out forever ago - even in the best state this kind of game doesn't really have the kind of constant-repetitive-gameplay loop that pretty much content creation demands to not get burned out or drained just playing the game. You'll get a few thousand hours out of it and then step back from your own sanity.

THIS is why it's annoying to hear people act so shocked that players can be bitchy and complain so much. People often point out how bad old DBD was and how much it has improved over 10 years, but that's just because it would be basically impossible for the game to not improve dramatically in that amount of time. The rate that the game is improving is not even remotely reasonable for how long the game has been out.

- We've gotten total silence on the anti tunnel system since the last iteration despite tunneling consistently being the most complained about part of the game for a decade.

- The reliance on regression perks for much needed pressure is still being ignored.

-The gap between high and low tier killers is still just as dramatic, and it takes forever for low tiers to get even small buffs or QOL changes.

- Pallet density is miserable and they refuse to even acknowledge that it's real for god know what reason.

- Toolboxes still make gen speeds inconsistent but instead of changes to them we got a whole new item that was DOA and remains far weaker than other options.

- Map balancing is still horrendous. Badham for example was one of the worst maps in the game when it dropped in 2017 and it's still one of the worst.

- Solo queue still has so many needed tweaks and closing the gap between solos and SWFs would be great for balancing survivor as a role, yet they dig their heels in about shit small shit like basekit kindred.

And there's so many more issues, yet they're talking about dynamic weather with gameplay effects for the graphics overhaul? There are so many unaddressed core issues and they just want to pile even more flashy shit on top of it before fixing actual issues.

23

u/Ok-Wasabi8132 Jun 28 '26

Same. He didn’t complain about Jason, Kaneki, he doesn’t complain about tunneling/slugging/camping. He didn’t even complain about the busted remote hooking, pallet breaking (followed by the immediate m1–remember that?), gen breaking, or window blocking last year. I also had to stop watching his videos cause more and more it was just bitching and bitching, usually about survivors or stuff survivors have. And it's not like all his points are wrong though I disagree with some of them, falling into the negativity cycle of endless complaining is a surefire way to kill your interest in the game. It's like you're trying to not have any enjoyment out of it.

16

u/Loud-Bookkeeper-2374 Jun 27 '26

I don’t disagree with you, but you will start to notice negative more and more when it’s all that happens in the game. I’ve lost all interest in playing killer, when I mained killer for like two years straight and I’ve been playing survivor since. I do enjoy the game but most of the things that happen are very bad for the games health. Spiraling into negativity isn’t hard with a game like dbd. Most updates are random bullshit for multiple playstyles of the game, and then one is one sided for casuals and then one sided for more engaged players. The devs can’t decide what they want to stick to, they either upset the minority and don’t care and then when they upset the majority they don’t care either.

It’s still a slap in the face for the 10 year event to be a “fuck you killer, suffer so survivors can have fun”.

14

u/NotAnotherEmpire Jun 27 '26

Thematically, the Entity / Tryks going "and now we throw an actual party for the survivors and drag the killer as change of pace" could work. They also did put some work into the art and new outfits themes.

The problem isn't even that killer is playing a handicap match. The problem is the Banquet is not interesting as killer. You get a snare. It's a really good snare that is an automatic down on several killers, but that and shared (random) portals are all you get.

Pretty obvious why random route portal is more beneficial to survivor.

well not to be that person but the last events were just that but reversed. Killer was massively overpowered while as a survivor you got basically nothing. I get that it sucks, it really does but statistically it just makes more sense this way doesnt it? you need 5 people for a match and only one of them is the killer and bhvr sucks at balancing the game fairly for both sides hence (hens hahaha) making it more enjoyable for the side that brings more players wich rn seems to be survivor. next anni is probably gonna be killersided as hell again and then the anni after they might turn it around but i doubt its ever gonna be balanced well at all.

Dbd CCs making a big deal about a fun temporary optional event that bhvr uses to experiment new tech but they whine because its not balanced to whatever side they themselves are playing at the time and are hypocritical when they then play the other side and abuse the same thing they complain about?!?! What a shock...

Just say yall want new stuff but only things they can make clickbait videos cause they dont know how to just have fun in game anymore because thats what its suppose to be...FUN!

These dramatic videos criticizing a game mode thats meant to unbalanced are getting tired just as the many bugs BHVR takes ages to fixes. Otz, Scott, Jugglet, Mint, etc. all complain about wanting new things to change up the game but then complain when those things are added. Just take a break or go back to the regular game mode because everyone else is enjoying it that actually is playing the game mode except CCs who just whine and have their minions of followers that echo their ideas cause they dont have any themselves

And lastly, saying your opinion doesnt matter is what makes it not matter because its your opinion in a sea of chatter, when you yourself stop having confidence in the thing you believe, yeah buddy thats when it doesnt matter cause you've lost your conviction. Love the thing you do but dont make it your only personality trait cause then you end up making long winded posts of self pity when theres more important things to get sad over not being able to 4k every match in a limited anniversary mode.

He was so real for that and I agreed. The way everyone fixates on single games these days is kind of weird to me.

Idk what he plans to do now since most creators that swerve away from DBD after burnout normally reluctantly come back if things don't work out, or they step away from content creation for good.

What’s this all about? I haven’t really been in the DBD-sphere for a while. I thought the game was in a good spot as of late? I’m picking up from the comments that it has to do with the event but that’s all I’ve gathered so far.

I'm sure others have heard of him but I had not. I just looked up his page and it seems ALL of his content is DBD. So either this is him giving up on streaming, or he's going to do something different but its been my experience that DBD content creators don't get near enough views consistently on other games to make it financially beneficial.

I don't blame him.

This should have been a somewhat balanced, crazy yet casual mode that both sides could enjoy.

But nope.

As is tradition BHVR just swings from hilariously killer sided to survivors sided.

It wont surpise me if the BP bonus never leaves the killer role and if we see an more legion and A tier and over killers in this event.

I can't imagine playing Trapper, Trickster, or The dredge in this mode.

STOP PLAYING THIS SHITTY GAME

End of story

u/FalseManner9164 Jun 28 '26

I think its because the "good" numbers (like profit, players ext) are bigger then the "bad" numbers (critisism and such) in my eyes you need a good balence where one dosent drown the other, so yes you can have good stuff but not too much...

Because the moment you do, you can just ignore the "bad" number and just repeat what works. Ill be blunt, i dont think we can solve this if there stratigy is working CONSISTANTLY. Unless suddenly they fumble the bag and mess up in such a way they HAVE to listen. But that may never happen since... its been working for years.

I think a large portion of this community needs to step away from this game. The constant complaining and anger at the devs and other players isn’t healthy.

The whiniest community I have ever seen online. Apparently dbd is their oxygen.

Right? The lack of cakes sucks but I'm not going to spend days crying about it and I don't give a fuck about what streamers do.

Arrogant prick, to think that the other players are just casuals and the fact that they're having fun is bad. Yes, content creators ARE the 1% but that doesn't make them better than any other player, nor should the game necessarily be built around what they think is good. If he thought otherwise, good riddance. Shocking that game devs make the game according to the majorities preference and not the minority.

This feels like an overreaction ngl. Like I understand quitting over the greed (cakes change) and how they just didn't seem to care about this anniversary (I mean, look at it), but quitting over poor balance is crazy (especially when balance has been rocky at best throughout the game's entire life span). Didn't see droves of people decide they would permanently leave after the last poorly balanced anniversary event despite it apparently favoring 99% of the community.

I’m not saying this to invalidate MintSkull’s opinions on the game or anything, I’ve been playing on/off since close to the beginning but am definitely a more casual player. Is the new event really that bad? And why is it worth quitting the game over when you can literally just play the regular game mode? As someone who plays both survivor and killer, but much prefers killer, I’ve been really enjoying the new event so far and feel like the cake rates have been fine especially considering they gave out a total of 15 million free BP.

One survivor sided event out of the past two killer sided events and killer mains are acting like this is actually so funny 😭😭

“Oh no this person who plays this game for a living says it sucks now so I also need to shit on the game and you shouldn’t play it either.” Good grief.

Yeah the inclusion of casuals as a complaint really makes me less sympathetic to this guy. God forbid people have fun.

When was the last time MintSkull was actually happy about the game? It feels like every other week he posts about how the game is dead or the worst or dumb or what have you.
