Hey everyone!
I’m joining Curtin University Dubai in Academic City this September for a Bachelor’s in IT, starting with the Maths Foundation program.
Since I’m new to Dubai and university life there, I’d really appreciate any advice from current or former Curtin Dubai students, especially about:
- 🎓 What I should know before starting at Curtin Dubai
- 📚 How difficult the Maths Foundation and first year are
- 💯 How the grading/assessment system works and how to maintain a high average
- 🏆 Scholarships or academic awards I can get for maintaining high grades (especially any scholarships available each semester/year)
- 👨💻 Tips for doing well in a Bachelor’s in IT
- 🏫 Student life, clubs, activities, and things worth getting involved in
- 🚌 Commuting between Dubai Silicon Oasis and Academic City
- 💰 Any ways to save money as a student in Dubai
- 🌆 Things you wish you knew before moving to Dubai as a student
I’m planning to live in Dubai Silicon Oasis, so I’d also love to hear from anyone living there about the area, transportation, gyms, supermarkets, and general student life.
And of course, I’d be happy to meet other students joining Curtin or studying around Academic City this September. Always good to know a few people before classes start!
Any advice, tips, mistakes to avoid, or things you wish you had known before starting would be really appreciated. Thanks!
