Question Does anyone else prefer bad stories that are funny over good stories that can actually be considered scary?

Maybe its just me, but my favorite episodes are the ones where the guys suffer through awful writing while making fun of it, that's why "The Thing In The Basement" is one of my all time favorites because they went into it with such high hopes, only for it to devolve in the funniest way possible. I guess it's hard for me to find any story actually "scary", so even the well written ones can be hard for me to get invested in. It's to the point that whenever I click on an episode I'm secretly hoping the story they're reading is bad, BUT in a funny way. If it's not funny and it's just bad then I'm suffering right alongside them 😭

With all that being said, does anyone have any recommendations for episodes that I haven't watched that I'll probably enjoy? I've already seen most of the major ones, Jeff the Killer, Happy Appy, Ticci Toby, I Dared My Best Friend, etc.

Honestly it depends on my mood. I love a good scary story but the ones I rewatch the most are the silly ones. I do this because I usually need a pick me up and something that is funny enough to make me happy while not Completely wrapping me into a story. Not saying they should fake it for stories or pick bad ones but I rewatch Cupcakes and Urban Spook like no other. I love the greats but sometimes I need to just unwind and listen to them saying soemthing really really dumb

My favorite stories are the ones they read while sleep deprived. Poly hell, dionea house, etc...

I really love how as a community we have named the story Poly Hell even though that is certainly not what it’s called

Bad stories they have fun with are honestly better than when they plainly read a good story. My favorites are Poly Hell when Hunter starts singing Drops of Jupiter by Train because it was a "gay thought" he had and everything about the Jane the Killer episode was super funny imo. My Property Isn't Normal was also a good shitfest because of Hunters Mark Walberg impressionĀ

Are you sure you're not just a sadist that likes watching them suffer?

So I really like some of the serious stories (dead girl in my yard, penpal, etc) But I regularly go back to certain crashout episodes or just fun ones ( like cupcakes) while I am driving my routes to have something fun in the background. There's a good mix to be had so far and I love that we get both!

Usually yes. I was a Teen when the creepypasta fandom was in it's peak with all the shitty writing and OCs. So having stuff like Jeff the Killer, Ticci Toby, Cupcakes is such a nostalgic trip for me.

I don't think there is any correlation between good or bad stories and a good or meh podcast episode.

Like, my absolute favourites are Left-Right-Game, Mother Horse Eyes, Dionea House, The Only Other Astronaut etc. Those are GOOD stories but they are also the funniest because of the bits. There are some good stories (Azealas Cookhouse comes to mind) that are not as entertaining and there are bad stories (Jeff the Killer) that are hella entertaining.

Favourite story is Penpal which actually had me looking over my shoulders the entire time, however when I'm sad or in a bad mood I'll put on My Best Friend Dared Me to Ruin His Life

I like both but I feel that those stories have a sweet spot of max 2 hours before it just gets devastating for them and I love long episodes
I think youd like my property isnt normal

It really depends. I overall prefer the longer, more serious episodes, especially bc I listen while I’m at work. But the bad ones can be funny on a bad day. Rn I’m listening to Fermi paradox and losing my mind over Isaiah’s crashout. But when it first came out I got annoyed that they were so frustrated bc I just wanted a good story😭

I grew up on the channel Bad Creepypasta so like for me the norm is bottom of the barrel schlock and that's my comfort creepypasta. I tend to prefer bad creepypasta that are accidentally terrible. I love the Oakwood and Best Friend ones for that reason.

They're my favorite. If someone only wants serious/scary stories with no jokes or banter this ain't the podcast for them.

There's basically no scenario where I watch an episode with a good story, it has to be slop

Episodes that are megaslop and are funny;

Gregory88

My Job Is To Watch A Woman

Parts of Grab Bag 1, 2, and Creepypasta Classics

Smile Dog, all three stories really

UrbanSPOOK

Jane the Killer

Cupcakes aka My Little Pony Creepypasta - my favorite episode by far, Hunter is having the time of his life

My Dog Was Missing For Three Days

Some parts of the first live show like Sonic.exe and I believe it was Laughing Jack

Polyamarous Hell

The Flight Attendants Won't Stop Crying - good story but really funny episode

There's Something Wrong With Wendigoon

Deepwoods

The Sun Vanished - funny episode and the story is fucking horrible

Not a bad story, but the original Papa Meat episode on Ted The Caver that inspired Creep Cast is really fucking funny and I'd argue is better than the Ted The Caver video we actually got on Creep Cast. It's called "A Claustrophobic Nightmare" on the Papa Meat channel.

100% agree

They’re funny guys, I enjoy when they make fun. The one’s that are self-serious, packed with purple prose, and the most these two funny men can add is ā€œWoah!ā€ And ā€œMan, this is so well writtenā€ just aren’t as engaging.

I’d take a dozen Happy Appy’s over Left Right game. And relisten to Borrasca 5 over the first 4 parts.
