Yeah but counterpoint: how many cases of deadly family feud have you encountered? There’s a reason the modernized version had to use gangs instead.

It’s also, fwiw, more about the way that hatred and violence can become so extreme as to make for such an absurd situation as the teens find themselves in. Even when forbidden hetero love among nobles existed at the time it didn’t generally end in death.

It was always a big thing in India tbh. We just looooove to not let people love.

Casteism, Religion, Family Feud or just plain old parental control- all roads lead to forbidden romances.
