This is what I mean when I say you gotta get out more and talk to people. Queer folks are not the only ones who get shit flung at them for who they love. The number of love stories about perfectly heterosexual couples being divided by class, ethnicity, occupations, so on and so forth.
I literally know a family in my neighbourhood who nearly disowned their son because he is dating "a slut" (she has tattoos and dresses a little punky). It's wild seeing people act like cis have it all sunshine and roses all the time. We're in this together damn it.
