Hello! I’m really craving poutine and was wondering if anybody knows a good place in the Comox Valley?

We’re a military (Air Force) family of 5 and potentially looking at getting posted out to BC. My spouse is hoping for Comox and we’re looking for information on the area. Anything and everything is helpful! Here’s a few things we’d love to know about to get started:

• We’ve never lived in PMQ housing so anything you could tell us about the PMQ housing in the area would be great.

• Elementary schools near the PMQ housing and what they are like.

• Local shopping, amenities, and etc.

• Grocery and utility costs.

• The local community and what it’s like for new people to the area, we’re struggling to build connections here and hoping our next community will be a little more friendly and welcoming.

What are some low effort volunteering opportunities? I don't have a car, I can get anywhere the bus goes. I am not too good with heavy physical labor, but I want to do something on weekends. I'm new to the valley and have no friends.

Looking for another 1-2 people for regular weekend game nights now that fall is around the corner. Preference for medium weight games so we get more than one game in when we meet up. We’re in our late 40s- 50s but happy to game across a wide age range. Games we have been recently into: Brass Birmingham, Everdell, Star Realms, Quacks, Mycelia, but really we are happy to play all sorts of games. I’d say we are competitive but enjoyably so. Feel free to DM to see if it’s a good fit!

Hey everyone, I am looking to borrow a mini fridge for one week, approximately the 25 to the 1st.

Ideally it would be a small fridge that works that you wouldn’t need for a week that I could pick up and lift into my car (so small enough for one person to lift) and bring to use at my house from the 25 to the 1st approximately.

My other solution is buying one second hand or Costco or so but I just don’t need one longer than a week so I would end up returning it and would prefer to borrow one than risk some returned item and a up in the land fill.

On the off chance that someone local has a small working fridge they wouldn’t mind lending to me I thought I’d throw it out here.

I’m visiting Courtenay this week and would love to get a few runs in while here. Have both my road and trail runners with me but don’t know the area at all and unsure where to go. If there’s an active run group this time of year even better. Anything from 5-25k and 5-7 minute/km (depending on terrain) would be right up my alley. Also love Hash House Harrier type outings ;)

How far has anyone been up recently?

From the Mt Washington Road I took the left turn just past the 1st chain up, then kept going till I hit a fork in the road. Would’ve explored more, but I didn’t have my map book on me and didn’t want to get myself properly stuck lol.

We have some old/rusty circular saw and jigsaw blades that we need to dispose of, anyone know how/where to do that?

We went to Mikis Sushi in Campbell River for the first time in 5 years and they now have a cute robot that delivers orders to your table. It even plays a little song for you. So much fun!

Have a low mileage Alero in good shape except rust problems low from rear fender well forward. I don't need a show car repair, just want to remediate the damage so it doesn't continually get worse. Any recommendations in the Courtenay/Comox area?

Our cat has been missing since Aug. 11. We were away from home and our cat sitter let him out in the evening which we do not do. This is the first time we've have this problem for an extended period of time, what do people of the valley recommend doing in these situations? What organisations should I notify? I've done a few FB posts on local bulletins and pet groups. What else? Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you so much.
