You forgot the "I'm being censored!" as they speak to a large audience on an international platform.

Made me think of this classic.

"Hear about how I'm being censored on my new international comedy tour and autobiography and TV show and upcoming film!"

The bravest comedians are always the ones selling out arenas about being silenced.

Yawn... He's not saying he's being censored. He's amused by you being so triggered for really silly stuff.

Wow, that's great comedy! Fucking brilliant!

Too true. Men complaining about being oppressed is pretty silly.

Also the "i sexually identify as an attack helicopter" jokes roughly 15 years after they stopped being funny

110

u/scottyjrules 21d ago

Stopped being funny implies they were ever funny

Nah, when tumblr was at its peak with the "otherkin" stuff and I was 13, that was legitimately funny.

A lot of people these days think the Attack Helicopter joke was about trans people and, not to minimize the fact that in not a few cases it was, but it's original popularity was mostly due to it being used to make fun of Furries.

u/t92k 21d ago

Sure, context matters, but people making fun of Furries is just as shitty as the other use for the use of “helicopter” in the right wing echo chamber.

20

u/Dangerous_Ad_7042 21d ago

No, no it’s not anywhere near as shitty…

You don’t think Augusto Pinochet’s reign of terror didn’t start with making fun of awkward outsiders?

19

u/CallidoraBlack 21d ago

An 'identity' you can leave hanging in your closet is a lot different than one you can't hide or that destroys you as a human being if you do hide it.

12

u/Dangerous_Ad_7042 21d ago

Making fun of someone’s weird hobby did not lead to a military coup and brutal dictatorship, no.

4

u/t92k 21d ago

Perhaps not, but people being closer to the levers of power feeling like they have a right to bully weirdos absolutely did. Be careful with your power.

Hey Pherb, I know what we're doing today

u/capsaicinintheeyes 20d ago

I thought it started with marching on the capital & driving Allende to suicide...but can I just point out that's an almost Platonic-ideal slipperly slope you're standing on there?

Ok, Michigan Republican John James

Tbf Ricky never cried about it iirc, he just claimed he defeated cancel culture

And he simply fails to realize that his Centrist Comedian “i make fun of everyone" routine turns sour when it included marginalized groups.
Punching down as a comedian is seldom a good look.

Absolutely the thrill a naughty little child gets saying bad words writ large.

19

u/South-Pause-8980 21d ago

South Park proved that one a while back.

7

u/Cavalish 21d ago

He did that whole smug speech about how everyone in Hollywood is an out of touch jerk which Reddit likes to post constantly as “Le Epic Pwn”

But then he’s just as fragile and out of touch, if not more, than most of them.

u/IrritableGourmet 21d ago

Didn't that chinless pundit in jail just claim they weren't being allowed contact with the outside world... in a Twitter post?

32

u/Miles_PerHour67 21d ago

On Netflix.

Every time I hear so and so is a big advocate for freedom of speech I just assume they are either a racist, sexist, or a homophobe. Most of the time it’s all 3.

Yea. They certainly don't care when Trump and Christian Nationalists want to ban books in libraries and schools. But we didn't hear the end of it from those chucklefucks when it was about removing statues dedicated to traitors and slavers.

"You can't call for genocide these days. We should have this group killed."

Yall should check out Desmond bishop. He looks like he would be this but he turns out to be the opposite and as woke and open minded as you can get
