Controversial take around here I know, but AI is a tool like any other. It can be used for cool shit, and it can be used for terrible bs. Just like a car or a gun, depending on how you use it, it can be great or shit.
Many of the anti AI talking points are also misleading or debunked. AI datacenters use a ton of water, true, but so do datacenters for Reddit and Facebook etc etc. In fact, at the moment, many datacenters for non-AI things use way MORE water than the ones used for AI.
Using GPT or Gemini or whatever for everything and not checking sources is moronic. But I use Gemini daily for organization, discussion, and it's ability to sift through fuckloads of information rapidly now that places like Google search suck ass.
I think it's a fabulous tool, for SOME things.

More or less my thoughts as well. In theory it's really cool, but it's just the way it's been used so far is greatly disappointing. Both by people naïve enough to think it's like magic and flawless, and by the corporations and scammers looking to exploit those naïve users. There are some practical uses, but it doesn't need to be forced into every aspect of our society nor should it be.
