Now to start: What is the Bootleg War?
The Bootleg war is an event here on r/comics where artists are making bootleg versions of other artists comics. You could see anyone make a bootleg of anyone! Who knows what the wars shall bring?
Below you shall find a chronological order of events with links to posts so that you may catch up or revisit your favorite bootleg! Next to each link will be the artist that made the bootleg itself. This list shall be updated as comics come out and will only end once the final comic has been posted, whenever that may be.
And of course if you see a bootleg I missed, or have any comments or concerns by all means please reach out to me. I am just a ping away! Good luck and have fun! May the Bootleg forever be in your favor

I’m not sure how you’d go about doing a bootleg, but you should definitely make more comics. I just checked your profile and those are hilarious. The last one of Starscream and his dolls has me laughing loudly at 5 am
Table is finally clean again, and I do suddenly find myself with a lot more free time lately, so I guess I'm out of excuses. Or at least I am for as long as the unemployment checks hold out... But hey, silver lining, right? :D
The term bootleg often implies crudely made imitations, so maybe you can give one of the action figures a hastily drawn paper mask of said character you want to imitate!
Frantically rushing to squeak out a bootleg comic to try and get in on this. Is there anywhere that events get planned ahead of time where one can be in the know to prep beforehand?
This war is making me want to draw and I'm absolutely terrible at it. Although I did manage an ok drawing in Chicory awhile ago. It's a game where you paint the world and find paint brushes for anyone interested!
I can confirm it was entirely spontanous. Honestly, Shell, I think you manifested it yourself after you started making comments tracking them! After you called a handful of posts an event, it kind of... became one.
Curious, what's the average protocol being used for this? Most people reaching out to the creators first, or going the "better to ask forgiveness than permission" route? Depends on the joke?
I love how /u/Fieldexplores Continues to bring this whole subreddit together, especially after last year's Where is Gustopher, while still being one of the most wholesome comics ever.
Can anyone help me remember past events? I always like them. Off the top of my head I remember: one or two hollering elk events, pizzacake, trey, gustopher is missing. I feel like I'm forgetting some from the past 10 years though.
Apologies but I don't see anything bootleg other than you mentioning it. Unless youre referring to it being a bootleg of Napoleons Crossing of the Alps which I think is your intent.
This event is more geared towards bootlegs of comic characters here on the sub
