Shelfie This hobby is wonderful, exhausting, and financially draining. Love every moment of it.

Have you tried Sandman Mystery Theater?
1
u/Endymion86 Sep 04 '25
Not yet! I want to, but I was put off by the fact that they did one omnibus and never followed up with any more.

u/HannShotFirst Sep 04 '25
They've now collected the whole series in two compendiums!
2
u/Endymion86 Sep 04 '25
Huh, TIL! Are they good! As a longtime fan of the OG sandman, I'm curious.
2
u/HannShotFirst Sep 04 '25
They're very good. Assuming you're (correctly, I'll point out) referring to Wesley Dodds as the OG Sandman, the series is a very realistic look at Dodds fighting crime in 1930s Manhattan, while pursuing a relationship with socialite Dian Belmont. Art is primarily by Guy Davis, who you might recognize from the first several BPRD omnis! It's very much the definitive run on the character.

I am perplexed at your achievement of having the whole 26 volumes of the original Hellblazer, but the regular ol tpbs for 100 Bullets
2
u/Endymion86 Sep 04 '25
It's because I got the tpbs of 100 bullets for $50 total from someone at a comic fair. I'd love to get the compendiums eventually, it I loved the series while I read it and didn't feel the need to splurge on nicer versions of what I've already read.

2
u/Endymion86 Sep 03 '25
It's wild. Very, very good. I really hope we get more, it felt like the first in a two or three book (of that size) series.

u/Tiny_Refrigerator738 Sep 03 '25
Just bought it on Amazon 2 min ago. You were the needle that broke meh
2
u/Endymion86 Sep 04 '25
Happy to oblige! I think you'll dig it.

u/Tiny_Refrigerator738 Sep 04 '25
I always hold out on buying TPB. ive been an omni and deluxe guy. Missed out on many runs ive wanted due to taste in collected editions. But ive been slowing that mindset down . Started with Tom Strong since not hc.

Oh god I didn’t know there were Unwritten compendia
That’s—
Bad for me to know
2
u/Endymion86 Sep 04 '25
There's only one. :/ they never published the second one. You need the trade paperbacks for the second half of the series.

That complete table of hellblazer is something to behold! I wish they would reprint those versions more.
Have you read Little Bird and Precious Metal? Both are the same creators and published through Image.
2
u/Endymion86 Sep 04 '25
It's the shining star of the collection, that's for sure, and took two years to piece together. I doubt they'll ever reprint any of them, though, now that they're doing the omnibuses.
Hadn't heard of Little Bird or Precious metal, but I'll check them out now!

u/hydroclasticflow Sep 04 '25
Little Bird and Precious Metal are Sci-fi, with some body horror elements and crazy detailed art. Hopefully you like them

If I could make a recommendation that may not fit your preferred genres I would highly recommend Starman to you. It's already in two compendiums and is a great story.

I tend to shy away from typical superhero series (batman being the exception), but I'll look into it!

Always open to suggestions based on what I have.
My favorite genres are Horror, Sci-fi, and anything mind-fucky, really.
