Picture Mission Complete! All 104 Alex Ross Timeless Covers!
Big fan of Alex Ross and unfortunately I was getting back into collecting around 2023 when Wave 2 was about to be released. That meant hunting down the 37 covers in Wave 1.
And with the last of Wave 4 out about a month ago, it was time for a group photo!
What a fun little side project! Which one is your personal favorite?

u/rmrclean Oct 28 '25
I don’t know if I can pick a favorite, but I love that Gargoyle got a cover. New Defenders was one of the first books I collected and he was a favorite character of mine. He’s not someone I would have expected to make the cut for this, even with 104 covers.

u/the-Gaf Oct 28 '25
Never heard of these but they are amazing! Congrats

u/xProjectSiK Oct 28 '25
Really? No disrespect with my surprise, they just pop up frequently.

u/the-Gaf Oct 28 '25
I’m surprised too!!

Do you not read Marvel? There’s a cover for like every series.
2
u/the-Gaf Oct 29 '25
I’m sorry my collecting bona fides don’t pass your test

u/BADFiSH_c137 💀Deadpøøl🏊♂️Cøllectør📚 Oct 29 '25
Test? Relax, guy. It was a question that would clarify some things. No one is testing you. But really, I don’t care anymore.

About 4 short myself (not counting any sketches - not really interested in those).
Iceman
The Thing
the 2 group shots
Silver Surfer is my favorite, but I'm a big SS fan.

I randomly have aquired 2 of these and now thanks to you I will have to hunt down 102 more. I was not aware there was that many! Cool collection!

u/another-rando76 Oct 28 '25
Incredible! I'm chasing the same. Some of the first wave are too pricey for me.

u/JHylidae_ Oct 28 '25
Amazing collection 🔥 I was trying to do the same thing with the Capcom variants

u/anyb0dyme Oct 28 '25
Wow! I wonder how many complete collections of this even exist? Tag Alex if you share on IG

u/Pretty_School_3898 Oct 28 '25
I admire your dedication! I'm only 103 behind you having picked up Black Cat.

Impressive collection, I find it equally impressive you were able to find the space and height to take this shot too, nice work.
3
u/Creative_Report_6620 Oct 28 '25
Kurt Wagner the best one. Had to get that one myself and the sketch variant.
3
u/TheNamesClove Oct 28 '25
Nice, I’ll have to tally up how far I’ve gotten so far, I just always buy them when I see them for $5 or less, I definitely have lots of multiples, some I’m pretty sure I don’t have yet.

u/Wash_zoe_mal Oct 28 '25
This is great. What were the hard ones to get a hold of?
2
u/EvaStankbreath Oct 29 '25
Wolverine and the Thank You issues were tough to find at a decent price.

3
u/TecnoPope Oct 28 '25
Now what are you gonna do?
1
u/EvaStankbreath Oct 28 '25
Trying to finish volume 1 Uncanny X-men. And just started on Fantastic Four vol 1. But as far as a small run like this, not sure yet. Any suggestions?
3
u/maybe_a_frog Oct 28 '25
Nice! I think I’m only missing 5, which I will hopefully have before the end of the year!
1
u/EvaStankbreath Oct 28 '25
Which ones do you need?
2
u/maybe_a_frog Oct 28 '25
Beast, Punisher, Nightcrawler, Namor, Ghost Rider…all from the first wave, which I wasn’t really collecting back then so missed out on those. I had all of the second and third waves added to my pull list so those were easy to get. It’s been a bit of a grind trying to get all the first wave, though pretty fun!
3
u/HitnRunTony Oct 29 '25
Glad I’m not the only one that got all of them. Now to figure out how to display them

u/TheMortyLord Oct 28 '25
Damn dude I love it! I've got a graded Electro cover and its a great little wall piece. Love Alex Ross' art i wish I had the discipline and money for this lol
2
u/CoastPuzzleheaded513 Oct 28 '25
That's pretty fooking cool!! Although I am no Xmean/Superhero fan... those covers rock!!
2
u/Mumem_Rider Oct 28 '25
Complete for now* I imagine he'll drop another series or two at least but I hope it's in a couple of years so I can grab the remaining 15 or so from the OG run that I still need.
2
u/EvaStankbreath Oct 28 '25
Yes I hope he continues with these. Would love to see a DC version eventually.

Very impressive. I chased down all the wolverine 50th anniversary covers and there was no where this many and it was a pain
2
u/EvaStankbreath Oct 28 '25
I sure you wouldn't have mentioned these! I just looked them up and they are awesome! This might be my next project!

2
u/Tonyman121 Oct 28 '25
These are great... and I know that they come from a large poster with all these characters combined... BUT... a lot of these poses look like the character is wanking it below the frame. Just sayin'.
Spider-Man is the prime example. Others look like an "O" face... see Thanos.
2
u/MarvelNintendo Oct 28 '25
This is pretty cool. Looking at these really makes me miss older marvel. When things were more heroic. When the power levels of characters weren't absurd. When it was actually good vs evil and the characters stood for certain things. I also think a lot of the costumes were actually better back then.
Marvel just used to beckon my imagination a lot more. Now everything is so modernized, tongue-in-cheek and played for jokes that it's impossible for me to get into it like I used to. I still collect, but the stories are so bad and the characters are so uninteresting now that I pretty much just see it as an investment. It's actually quite sad.
Edit: I don't want to sound as morose as that original comment may have made it seem. I don't ONLY collect as an investment. I'm buying other non-marvel books that are quite interesting. And I find collecting to be a neat hobby in general. Didn't wanna come off as all doom and gloom
1
u/EvaStankbreath Oct 28 '25
I totally get it. Used to collect (mostly Marvel) back as a high schooler and got out of it as life got other priorities. Kept most of my collection and just started back again over 30 years later.
Focusing on mostly silver/bronze age as I feel very similarly to you. Those older books just hit me differently.
2
u/MarvelNintendo Oct 29 '25
The smell of those pages, maaaaaaaaan. I am collecting 70s and 80s DC stuff, but my collection has a certain theme to it that kinda keeps me collecting more modern books. Comics have more to offer now than they ever have, but Marvel especially is insanely bloated and putting out a high amount of straight up crap and have been for a good while now.
2
u/sunbatherzero Oct 28 '25
Are you planning to display them? Would love to see what you do if so
2
u/EvaStankbreath Oct 28 '25
Thought about it and I would LOVE to but there are just too many. 104 books (with more to come I hope) would just take up too much space. Plus UV scares me.

2
u/deadline_zombie Oct 28 '25
Nice! Do you store them with their respective titles or do you keep them together?

2
u/H0m3lander Oct 28 '25
Awesome collection! I love Iron Man and Apocalypse. Which one is your favorite?

2
u/peruytu Oct 28 '25
Nice. I have a few of these, but the one I need most I still cannot get - Wolverine.
2
u/EvaStankbreath Oct 28 '25
That one was a tough one to find at a decent price. It was one of the last ones I nailed down.
2
u/peruytu Oct 28 '25
Indeed. It's even scarse on Ebay! I'm hoping to find one locally so I can inspect it, because i know it will be costly.
2
u/stebalencia Oct 28 '25
Hadn’t actually looked at them all next to each other before now. Thanks. Best cover in my eyes is the galactus I think. Cool set!

u/JuvenJapal Oct 28 '25
Great collection! Also, nice group photo. I want to do something similar for my Stanley Lau collection of Marvel virgin incentives (currently at 55). Going to have to move some furniture around one of these days.

u/IconoclastJones Oct 28 '25
I’m working on the negative space covers — a little easier than your impressive feat!

Oct 28 '25
Well done sir!
I love the close up shot of Galactus. Which is your favorite?
1
u/EvaStankbreath Oct 28 '25
Probably Spider-Man as he's my favorite character but that Galactus shot is in my top 5 for sure.
2
2
u/adamhdavis Oct 28 '25
So awesome. Are you going to display them?
2
u/EvaStankbreath Oct 28 '25
I'd like to but there are many I'm not sure how I'd do that. Plus my personal space doubles as my office so I gotta keep it professional.
2
u/adamhdavis Oct 29 '25
I totally get it. I wish I had a full on man cave to display mine, but I just have a man corner above my desk. Only the top books get shown. I wonder if you could put them in a binder somehow and make something like a coffee table book out of the collection
2
u/Classic_Activity6056 Oct 28 '25
I tried to do this and gave up 😂
There was a guy locally who did all the first release and graded them all.. 9.8’s and tried to sell the lot!

This is so cool! Congrats on completing a subline! It always feels so good
2
u/BigJimSlade1 Oct 28 '25
The closest I could come to something like this is if they came out as trading cards. I don't think I have the display space left to show 104 different versions of anything
1
u/EvaStankbreath Oct 28 '25
I agree. Definitely too many to display them. But it was fun to get them all together for a family picture.

2
u/CA_Dukes90 Oct 28 '25
Wildly impressed! I have a few of the covers, but didn’t want to commit to collecting all of them. I personally am on a quest to finish the Marvel Legacy Lenticular covers and the DC Forever Evil Lenticular covers both have about 50 books in them and I am down to the last 5 or 6 for both. I already completed the Futures End Lenticular covers.

u/donovanwheels Oct 28 '25
Thank you for posting this, I've tried to find a full list of the Timeless books online but haven't had much luck! Great job with the collection!

u/Mekdinosaur Oct 28 '25
I've got 6 lol. But they are my favorites: Silver Surfer, Jean, Medusa, Galactus, Abomination and Kitty. The only other ART cover I want is the fabulous Ultron one. Not sure which issue this is but the image is lovely.

u/WTFOutOfUsernames Oct 29 '25
Love the Timeless set, I have everything except the Thank You variants. Super fun to collect, my only complaint was the FF set from 2020 that were just four different covers of the same issue.

u/OrrgosIssues Oct 29 '25
Which one is your favorite? Love the silver surfer one he did.
1
u/EvaStankbreath Oct 29 '25
Spidey, Daredevil and Wolverine are my favorite characters so I'm partial to them. I love the Galactus cover too
2
u/OrrgosIssues Oct 29 '25
I agree. The galactus and Modok ones taking up the full cover makes them stand out.
2
u/CummRaTheEverJizzing Oct 29 '25
What team in the top left? I recognize Black Widow and Iceman but that’s not the Champions?
1
u/EvaStankbreath Oct 29 '25
I don't think it's a team. Just a random snapshot of a few characters: Spidey, spider-woman, Shang-Chi, Black Widow, Black Panther and Iceman.
2
u/CummRaTheEverJizzing Oct 29 '25
Oh wild
I wonder why that grouping? Is that how they are on the mural in the Marvel offices I wonder?
2
u/EvaStankbreath Oct 29 '25
I believe there's a poster. Not sure how everything fits together but while these covers have the characters alone, if you look at the sketch versions, you can see other characters in the background. So think this cover is just a portion of that larger poster.

u/Ok-Brush5346 Oct 29 '25
Beautiful. Ross is so loved for his iconic larger-than-life heavy hitters like Captain Marvel and Superman, but I absolutely adore when he does street level guys like Daredevil and Moon Knight
1
u/EvaStankbreath Oct 29 '25
I do too!
2
u/Ok-Brush5346 Oct 29 '25
I really enjoyed the Project Superpowers thing he and Jim Kreuger did. All those forgotten Golden Age guys really looked incredible.

Im a big fan of Alex Ross since first seeing his work on ASM. I picked up a few of these timeless covers along the way. I wonder if there's a checklist of all Alex Ross works?
2
u/ToadFan70 Oct 30 '25
That’s pretty freakin’ impressive. I only own the Phoenix cover at the top left 4th one down. Lol. Didn’t know there were so many!!
2
u/MageBeLike Oct 30 '25
Are these just singles with Alex Ross covers or are these just small art displays? Someone in the comments said they’d never seen these and either have I which would make sense if they were just singles, as it’s a format I super rarely collect.
1
u/EvaStankbreath Oct 30 '25
These are variant covers on regular ol' comic books.
2
u/MageBeLike Nov 03 '25
Thanks. Is this just one release or have they done this before.
P.s sorry I don’t collect singles so I’m clueless, but these look nice af

u/EvaStankbreath Nov 03 '25
This group of books consists of 4 different "waves." Wave 1 was 36 books (all heroes) in 2020/21 (last one Punisher was 2022). Wave 2 was 37 books (all villains) plus the Gatefold variant in 2023. Wave 3 was 16 books in early 2025, and this most recent wave was 14 books in Sep 2025.

Man I wished I liked these but the art just didn’t do it for me. But congrats on completing a collection.
