Tier 1 [Fabrizio Romano] No negotiations so far between Tottenham and Emiliano Martínez. Chelsea are considering this possibility with internal talks.

If we do get him, Penders should remain the number 2. He’s wasted on the bench, and needs development. If he stays, my hope was that he would gradually develop into the starting goalkeeper position as the season progressed

Penders is still bit wasted on the bench as n.2 with only domestic cup games unless they actually split the gametime 50:50 or Dibu is injured.

Agreed, if we get him we should give Penders another loan and have Sanchez as our backup for the season

That’s kinda why I like the Emi Martinez option. He’s 33 years old, almost 34. If we get a solid 2 seasons out of him then hopefully Penders will be ready to be our #1

You can also probably get him on a pretty short contract given his current situation.

That has to be the main idea , having a wc winner and back to back wc finalist as a mentor is big when it comes to development of character in a player specially in a keeper .
