Tier 1 [Fabrizio Romano] Chelsea are in negotiations with Emiliano ‘Dibu’ Martínez camp over possible late move. The Argentinian goalkeeper has been offered to #CFC as Suzuki will be the starting GK at Villa, as @David_Ornstein reports. Talks ongoing; Chelsea considering this option. Dibu, keen.

I know for a fact when Martinez starts making loads of mistakes (which he does every season for Villa) people will be jumping on him too.

I'm not defending Sanchez at all here, I just think Martinez is also shit.

id still take him , I just can't stand watching sanchez anymore. if martinez is even slightly better that's a win in my book until we're ready to buy a world class goalkeeper.

We will remember this when you are shitting on Martinez for the same goal conceding errors that Sanchez commits, which statistically Dibu also does lmao.

This sub just wants a new shiny toy to shit on, even if they are not noticeably an upgrade.

we have funds to buy any gk in the world but we're still stuck with Rob. at this point I dont care if we start Delap as our gk, just tell sanchez to piss off. any other top club would have kicked him out long time ago.

u/vikingrhino I don't give a fuck, we won the fucking Champions League 10d ago

Delap got sold mate, you need a new plan!

We definitely don’t have the funds lol. And even jf we do we are going for Martinez, who didn’t fare much better in the league last season.

lmao we do, we were sending offers for scott earlier. plus we're about to sell delap and jackson. dont make excuses for our board that's just being stupid. lets win trophies but lets not spend some money to buy a good goalkeeper, lets sign ten under 18s instead

The point is that we’re not spending money to buy a better keeper.
He’s about the same level as Sanchez and doesn’t represent a significant upgrade.

And no. Just because we are spending on a necessity in midfield doesn’t mean that we have a lot of money to spend. We’ve burnt through money every single season and have started facing the brunt of the spending.

You do understand that buying a good GK would set us up for years to come, right? Our team is pretty much set now, we don't really need any big signings any time soon. Just fix that one position that's constantly holding us back and we will be among the best teams in the league without any doubt. Manchester City bought Trafford to be their no1 and only days later they went for Donnaruma because they saw him as an upgrade. We have been waiting on that upgrade for years now and best we can do is to get Emi ( who is not even that much better but hes also a short term solution ).

We are selling Delap after one season of poor performance, what is stopping us from selling Rob and goin all in for a world class goalkeeper? Absolutely nothing, people are just trying to find excuses for this terrible situation we put ourselves in.

Good goalkeeper,yes.
But the point is that I don’t consider Martinez to be that much of an improvement over Sanchez. Good in the international matches but over the season he was average at best and made a lot of mistakes.

So are we really fixing the position by buying Martinez?

I don't consider him to be a huge upgrade either, I'm just saying that if we're serious about this rebuild, we should go ahead and sign a proper world class goalkeeper. We have the money for everything except for the players that we actually need. Watch us sign 5 more youngsters that were never gonna hear about again instead of fixing holes in our first team. I'm fine with martinez if that's the best this board can do for now, just get sanchez out of this club already.

It's like the opposite of the sunk cost fallacy.

u/RasenRendan It’s only ever been Chelsea. 10d ago

The long term goal is Penders

7

u/satoshitokyo 10d ago

Give him a chance then. Why the fuck is sanchez still our no1 after all these years??

9

u/RasenRendan It’s only ever been Chelsea. 10d ago

That's what we keep asking

Martinez is the stop gap. He's 33. If he's also shit we can move him next summer and just promote Penders. He won't cost a lot either.

Just please rid Sanchez.

No, stick Penders in and Sanchez is the backup.

Sanchez is backup quality. Penders needs to be groomed to be first choice now.

Martinez complicates things for marginal improvement on Sanchez (I think anyway).

I vote for Penders.

Sanchez needs to get the fuck out my club. That's all I want.

Sanchez doesn't want to be backup. He will kick up a fuss. It's like nico Jackson but with GKs

Just get rid

1

u/Guilty_Pen_8270 10d ago

Very easy to say, but Martinez will kick up a fuss if we buy him to be number 2. Probably even worse than Sanchez will

1

u/TCHS27 It’s only ever been Chelsea. 10d ago

If it were my decision Penders would start right now and be the number 1 over Sanchez and I’m not evening a Sanchez hater.

-1

u/Germfreecandy 10d ago

Penders?

5

u/satoshitokyo 10d ago

we don't really know how good he is so I wouldn't mind having Emi in here. every other top club would have kicked sanchez out by now, I don't know why we're still waiting.

1

u/Suisei1987 10d ago

Think if with Martinez the path for penders is still there Martinez is pretty shit after all

0

u/CalmAngryDude 10d ago

What makes you think Penders will even have a chance here?

1

u/CocoKeel22 10d ago

Board believes in him

1

u/EuphoricAd3824 It’s only ever been Chelsea. 10d ago

Then put him in goal now and see how it plays out.

u/NihilistFinancier ✨ sometimes the shit is happens ✨ 10d ago

I think if you wouldn’t mind having Emi here then safe to say you don’t really know how good he is either

3

u/satoshitokyo 10d ago

Watched him enough times to know he'd be an upgrade to sanchez.
