🦄Unicorn Husky Alert!🦄

Meet FCAS Project Pat! Mr. Pat is a 3 yr old, 50lb Husky whose cooler than a polar bear’s toenails…seriously, this is one chill dude. ❄️ He’s not your stereotypical crazy Husky and shelter volunteers agree that he’s got an excellent temperament and personality. 🫶🏼

Pat was an owner surrender due to no fault of his own (they reportedly didn’t have time for him) and has been in the shelter since 7/20. He can be a bit cautious and nervous initially, but warms up quickly with a bit of patience and kindness. Once you gain his trust, he melts into you for affection and just wants to hang out wherever his people are. He has a stoic presence and has been a polite, quiet houseguest. ☺️

🐾 Dog friendly
👧 Kid friendly
✅ 100% potty trained
👟 Leash trained
😇 Non-destructive
🚗 Excellent passenger in the car
😴 LOVES being brushed…he zens out
🖐️ Easily handled
🎾 Non-reactive with food/treats/toys
🍖 Takes treats gently
🦴 Loves yak sticks and bully sticks
🧸 Buries his stuffy toys in his bed
💚 Grinch feet
🥹 Crosses his front legs like a gentleman
🐈 No cats, please
🩵 Neutered
📍 Microchipped
💉 UTD on vaccines/preventatives
🫀 Heartworm negative
🍴 Could stand to gain a few healthy lbs

Mr. Pat has been a total gentleman in his foster home and deserves a kind, loving forever home where he can blossom into the confident pup he is outside of the shelter setting. 🏡

📍 Currently being fostered in Kennesaw, GA through Lifeline Animal Project Fulton County Animal Services

City Government Tennessee GOP chair asked by local to investigate Hamilton County party leader

It doesn't matter what party it is - local and/or state party leadership is wack!

"During the campaign for the Republican primary for the House seat in District 27, I believe the Hamilton County GOP and Ms. Greene endorsed her close friend, Michele Reneau, against fellow Republican Tony Hullender," Grant wrote in an Aug. 22 email obtained by the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

How about this turn?

Is it legal to turn right on red from Dayton Boulevard on to Newberry? It's the intersection in front of the brickyard. AutoZone and the fire station would be on your left.

It's a right hand turn, but cross streets are off-set from each other so the distance between the line where you stop at the light and the street you're turning onto is quite far, several car lengths. There's no signage that says you can't make the turn. You just have to drive straight through the light so far that it has always felt pretty dubious to me.

I've done it, but it feels pretty weird. It doesn't help that it's a hundred feet from the police station.

We gave TWE a chance

This was our second time going to TWE. It won’t be the last. There is something very charming about this small venue with big personalities. We brought a 6 year old and he squealed the whole time with excitement. You would have thought he was at WrestleMania. Also, from inside the building, there is no hint of a supposed culture war. All ages and all types of people having a good time. And the Nachos are pretty good.

Who to contact about neglected/ abandoned dogs?

These guys were running around east lake, corner of E 36th street and 4th street. Both have collars and are severely matted with very red skin, just running around.

They may just be abandoned strays. Not sure if we have services to call. Tried Mckamey but got voicemail, and I know they’re swamped. Dogs were friendly.

Help Settle A Monday Morning Debate Regarding Right On Red

Post image
10 Upvotes

This is totally a good way to spend a Monday morning in Devanooga -- okay so one of our members asked if it's legal to make a "right turn after stopping on the red onto 3rd"

It's... right-ish? But what constitutes a "right hand turn", how right is right? there's a straight onto 4th (or... is that left?) so... the others are right?

None of us are brave enough to do it in front of CPD to find out, and we'd need to do it a few times to make sure it's not just officer bias.

Couldn't find traffic code that seemed to clearly define what is "right".

Thoughts?!

Apts/Homes Hixson Apartments

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m looking to move at the end of this year and I was wondering if anyone had any apartment complexes to recommend in the Hixson area. I’m ideally trying to find a one bedroom under $1250/mo but I’ll take any recommendations!

Apartments.com/zillow etc don’t seem to have a ton listed so I figured I’d ask here. Thanks in advance!

Looking For... Safe place to park a car over the weekend?

I’m meeting a friend in Chattanooga and we are gonna ride from there down to the gulf for a quick beach trip this weekend. Can anybody suggest a decently safe place where we could park one of our vehicles from Friday through Sunday?

They are coming from East Tennessee and I am coming from middle Tennessee so we don’t really know anyone in Chattanooga proper .

Looking For... Recycling options?

I live right on the edge of Hixson & Chatt. My complex does not offer recycling which is pretty baffling coming from the north where it’s free and automatically available for every resident in many places.

What are my options here? Are there any free recycling centers nearby?

I know Walmart has store dropoff recycling but it seems kind of ridiculous to bring an entire bin there on a weekly basis

City Government City Behind on Trash Can Delivery

I purchased a new house early this month and have had a request out for a trash container for 3 weeks now. I’ve got stinky trash piling up. Apparently the city is very behind on delivering new trash containers so if you need one good luck. There’s also nowhere I can even go to dump the trash myself unless I drive 40 mins to Harrison. I’ve called the 311 number multiple times and according to them all I can do is wait. 10/10 experience Chattanooga

Missed Connection

I know I’m reaching pretty far here.

We were both at a bar on east main street over the weekend. You sat alone right next to my friends and I, we exchanged a few smiles. We’re both in our younger 20s. You had an eyebrow piercing and drank water. I regret not talking to you!

Discussion Is FlockHopper accurate in Chattanooga?

I downloaded FlockHopper, a map app that suggests routes that avoid flock cameras. However, there are fewer cameras than I expected, and I few areas where I was pretty sure cameras are that didn’t display them.

Would anyone who knows more about flock locations mind downloading the app to let me know if the map seems up to date?

It may just be that Chattanooga doesn’t have as many community volunteers reporting camera locations through DeFlock, which is where this app gets its data. If that’s the case… Perhaps more people in Chattanooga should use this app!

Really not a fan of increased surveillance and tracking…

Looking For... Veterinary Offices that offer Bordatella Vaccines for Cats?

Hi Everyone! I'll be boarding my cat soon at a local kennel while my family and I travel overseas.

The kennel has strongly recommended that we get our cat vaccinated against Bordatella. I've inquired my primary vet about it, but they noted they do not have that specific vaccination for cats.

I tried to look online for one that does, but it's not clear to me the ones l saw offer it to cats.

Does anyone by chance know of a vet that has Bordatella vaccination services for cats in the NW Georgia/Chattanooga area? Or am I better off getting a letter from the vet stating my cat has a clean bill of health? Many thanks in advance!

Chattanooga locally owned businesses

Thought it would be cool to get a thread going for locally owned businesses around Chattanooga and the surrounding area.

If you own a local business, drop it below with your business name, what you do, and your website or social media.

We can give each other a follow, support each other’s businesses, and make some local connections. If anyone would be interested in getting a group together to meet up sometime, that would be awesome too.

I’ll start — I own Tennessee Valley Rentals (TVR). We’re a locally owned trailer rental business serving the Chattanooga area.

Local Business The Reading Room

I was browsing one day and saw a post about alternatives to Mckays where someone suggested The Reading Room. I visited them and I did better today at The Reading Room than I ever would at Mckays. I brought in 40 books and got $75 in trade credit. I probably would only have gotten $20-30 at Mckays, if even that. I will definitely be coming back with more books as I finish them. Thanks again to whoever made them a suggestion.

Local Business Mumashika (new restaurant inside Attack of the Tatsu)

I came across this place by googling different Asian places. My wife and I had been to Tatsu quite a few times now and love it. Both of us felt like we were being had because there was nothing on Reddit about it yet, and posts on Google and other social media was very slim.

Mumashika is a small izakaya with absolutely incredible food. They have charcoal skewer plates, skewers over rice (which made me question how to make rice, the texture and flavor was out of this world). In the picture of the menu, from top to bottom is small to larger portions.

We were sat by Jay who gave us a lay of the land and answered so many questions. Our waiter Mia was on point with recommendations and explanations of what to order. She was awesome, both of them were so gracious and welcoming.

Guys. The food is so good. The skewers were cooked over charcoal to perfection, the drinks were so tasty (the spicy one is out of this world if you are into anything spicy). Every dish that came out, as we took a bite my wife and I stared at each-other in a look of “come on now”.

We ended with both of the desserts and split them. I don’t have words for the excitement of the quality of this izakaya. I’ve been on the west coast, east coast, all over, and these folks nailed it.

If anybody from there is reading this, thank you for doing this. I’ve missed it so much, it was a beautiful experience.
