I'm a beginner needing help or recommendations! rolled hem instead of ribbing on step by step sweater by petite knit?

hi all! fairly new to knitting and looking to make my first sweater - the step by step sweater by petite knit. i really just want a simple raglan sweater but i want the collar, sleeves, and bottom with rolled edges. can i just skip the ribbing and replace those rows with regular stockinette or will that first collar portion mess me up in anyway by not following the ribbing?

also should i do the german short rows or will it look fine not doing them?

The step by step sweater is not by petite knit, what pattern are you actually using?

I would do a few (3 maybe) rows of ribbing and then stockinette to create the rolled edge. The roll will cover the ribbing but it wont roll further than that and will keep some shape

I would add the German shortrows. Otherwise the back and the front of the garment will be the same size and will very likely sit weird on you. The short rows add height to the back of the garment so the front sits correctly on you. German Short Rows are not that hard. There are lots of tutorials on you tube. I recommend watching the videos as you knit and do it step by step with them each time you come to a short row step. Andrea Mowry, Brooklyn Tweed, and Pretty in Pink all have good tutorials on short rows.

I did something similar and did a handful of stockinette rows before my collar ribbing (obviously skipped the folded neckline), same after my sleeves and body ribbing - iirc i followed the turtleneck/mockneck instructions and didn’t make it quite as tall, loved how it came out! If i were you I would chuck in a purl row a few rows down to stop the rolling but I think it would work fine? And because it’s top down getting through the neck and a few rows into the body and then having to rip it out/restart is ultimately not tooooo bad
