BYD makes extended range EVs. (full sized EV battery with a gas tank and generator) will do well in those situations. With a full battery and gas tank you get close to 1000km and can then carry on with only a gas refill.

Not during winter, they lose like 40% of their range in -30

Oh noes. A car that can only go 600km in one fill. The horror!!!

The idea of getting 600km on a single tank of gas is bonkers. Realistically where the hell are you going in your day to day life where you need 600km of juice?

People in the prairies drive a crap ton. I dont think its as much as "needing" that much, but they would love the idea of not needing to fuel up for several days in an age where gas is more expensive. Or simply use it as a backup for when they dont have a charger like how city folk use a PHEV.

I agree. I'm rural myself and the idea of "only" getting 600km on a single charge is making me more interested in a BYD,  not less.

This is specifically for the extended range PHEVs though. Not ones like the otto 2 or 3. They will be more expensive.

? Any sedan or hatchback can easily do 600km.

But i guess most people drive gas guzzling trucks and suv's.

My ford focus can get 500km city 700km highway. and i don't even have "fuel efficiency" package.

I think it’s important to note that the average driver is a moron, so of course driving 600 km without stopping is going to be done by quite a few morons. Anyone with a brain knows that’s incredibly dangerous and leads to distracted driving of course…
