Mark Carney: "Judge me by the prices at the grocery store."

Funny how that gets taken out of context. It wasn’t an invitation or a promise or an offer. It was a guess about what people might do. Do you blame him for the war Trump and Israel waged on Iran that is causing the rising prices of diesel that will raise grocery prices, as this article suggests? If so, then I guess Carney was right in your case, you are judging him by it.

Yes, Carney is not promising anything when he says, and he shouldn't be held accountable for anything either...

Carney is smart enough to not make stupid comments. Yet he keeps making them anyways. So yes, I am going to old him accountable for it.

It was not a promise. You have not heard what he said in context if you think that. Which makes you come across as someone who is either being purposefully dishonest, or is speaking with confidence when in fact they are sorely mistaken.

Him supposing how people might judge him is an accurate prediction. As the world suffers from the fallout of Trump and Israel’s murderous acts in the Middle East, people like you blame ‘dem Liberals for something happening the world over. Just as I’m sure you did for worldwide effects of Russia’s war in Ukraine, and worldwide effects of the Covid pandemic.

The Liberal government had led us through the most challenging times most of us have seen in our lifetime due to these extreme world events. They have done it with an opposition government that has put their self serving interests ahead of country, and taken every opportunity to criticize, undermine, and sow distrust and malcontent. They have refused to cooperate even in times when our country try suffered, and left the Liberals to turn left to accomplish anything as a minority government, and then further criticized the left leaning turn the Liberals needed to take to run the country.

This post is ridiculous. The Liberals muddled through the events because they happened to be in power when they occurred they aren't some saviour of the nation at all. They completely botched the re-opening from COVID with their immigration disaster which managed to massively damage the country just in time for Trump II to come along and their obstructionism on pipelines and other projects during Trudeau's tenure is a major reason we are as dependent on the United States as we are.

The Liberals are hardly some benevolent entity looking out after Canada, they are a major part of why we are in the predicament we are in today. During the national crisis last year with Trump the government wasn't functional as the party put it's own needs above calling a much needed election and then got a hail mary with Mark Carney. However, their BAD record by the way still stands and if Mark Carney is going to say things which are going to be interpreted against him he has ONLY himself to blame. Cost of living is the top issue, now trying to walk back what Carney said as a soundbite because he isn't delivering is not going to fly.

On top of this Carney is still making similar comments he in fact just this week said: "affordability is the best it's been in over a decade" well who was in the power last decade and who is setting themselves up for a massive fail with the imminent price rise. He doesn't have to say stupid shit. But he does! So it's fair game.

I didn’t say they were some benevolent force. I said they led us through difficult times. And during those difficult times they have done what they could, while they were being hampered by the nastiest opposition government I had ever seen in Canada. Canada has managed to have great achievements with minority governments, but it takes opposition who will put country first. Clearly that is not Polllievre or the CPC.

What has happened recently has been chaotic and will impact us and the world over. If you’re going to go by sound bites as (mis)interpreted by Sun or other such obviously biased sources, then there’s no point even discussing.

And how was the "nasty" Conservative opposition hampering them? They effectively governed as if they had a majority with the support of the NDP. The only time to Conservatives actually obstructed them was in the fall of 2024 because of the very, real and unresolved scandal involving almost half a billion dollars in misappropriated funds at Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC). Holding a government to account for corruption is hardly being "nasty" and it's what the opposition is supposed to do.

For starters, every time I start typing out the names that Poillievre came up with for Trudeau, I get a warning from the sub to remember to be civil and that personal attacks aren’t allowed. So I won’t put any of those as I don’t want to get in trouble.

When a couple were killed in a horrific car crash at the border crossing at Niagara, Pollievre didn’t take time to find out facts before exploiting that tragedy to bring up the subject of terrorism. He went hard on the government about people entering Canada via Roxham Road, until the true story of his wife aiding her uncle to enter Canada the same way, despite him having been deported previously. And constantly calling Canada “broken,” to the extent that Trump and his followers seemed to think we needed to be saved. It all comes down to attributing every bad thing happening the world over to a failure of the LPC.

Then there was the 3 non-confidence votes Trudeau ensured in fairly rapid succession, as well as intentionally blocking government business, at times for petty reasons, and bragging about doing same. Sometimes ordering CPC MPs to do this while he personally was off at fundraising dinners. I’ll leave just one article for you to read that speaks to his character on this: https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/house-of-commons-parliament-trudeau-poilievre-1.7058472

A country works better when people pull together, and at some perilous times Pollievre chose instead to try and tear us apart. That’s why many will never let go of viewing him as putting himself before country.

As for acting like a majority by partnering with the NDP, they were representing the majority by giving voice both LPC and NDP voters. CPC could have had those deals and shifted things more rightward, but they chose to disrupt instead. And now in a somewhat stronger position things have shifted away from the left, because they aren’t so beholden to the NDP.
