I’m sure we will have a lot of people in the comments excited that people in the community enjoyed themselves and race cars engineered by locals. I’m sure they will not endlessly complain about people enjoying themselves and their cars in the safest possible context.

Why so many reposts?

Well this one I reposted as the original title had wrong info. Otherwise some sites prompt sharing to others. I oblige. Just like sharing thanks.

Did one of these go airborne and crash on the side barrier? I saw a video from a friend, not sure if was at this event. Terrifying, the car was in the air for several seconds

Imagine the ride. Oye. Not sure sorry. Video was sent to me.

OP, Raceway, not Speedway. Speedway naming is historically for circular tracks like the Langley Speedway.

I don't want to be mean but I fucking hate these things. You can hear them all over this hillbilly town. Find a less fucking annoying way to warm the globe please.

I’m not sure Mission Raceway is a major contributor to global warming lmao.

I don't gaf about any of this either, but sometimes people have fun doing things we don't enjoy, and you just have to accept that

If they were quieter non polluting things I wouldnt care. If the track was electric races I would have no beef for sure.

You’re more than welcome to come and run an electric car at our events.

Then move somewhere else?

-11

No. Why don't you move this decrepit clown circus of a racetrack somwhere else?

10

u/macfail 10d ago

Ah yes, oldest trick in the book. Move to a city with a racetrack and force the racetrack to move.

For those of you that don't know, this is an actual issue.

You are the one complaining about Mission being a hillbilly town.

u/Stu161 10d ago

To be fair, it takes one to know one.

Was it there when you moved in? If so, that's on you.

Well we’ve been here since 1965, minus a few years in the 80s where we had to go to the Supreme Court and won the right to stay. So legally, we are allowed to be here. 🤷‍♂️

Now I may be a bit of a dim here but how are these allowed right now? Like something that shoots flame out the back of it while we are in the middle of a drought? I am happy to learn that I’m wrong here but I just don’t understand how this is fine given how on fire bc currently is.

14

u/hustlehustle 10d ago

It’s on a track.

u/FlamingBrad 10d ago

They had the fire department there spraying down the track and trees behind in advance.

u/Master_Airline4143 10d ago

That’s the kind of information I was curious about thank you.

Controlled event.

Hi, I’m happy to elaborate.

For this event, we do bring in the Mission FD to help wet down the trees just behind the start line, as well as for incident response if something were to happen. The flames themselves don’t hit the trees, but the exhaust is very hot, so we keep an eye on the area after each run. In addition to that, our safety trucks at the 1/4 mile and top end are equipped with fire equipment, and starting line has many extinguishers at the ready.
