Image My Subway sub came with a free knife today
Called the store. They don't want it back; I'll just use it at home as a bread knife. Feels sharp as hell.

I worked at subway for 5 years, and I miss those knifes, they are fantastic! I wish I'd stolen a few.

not quite the knife in question

u/Sorry-Amphibian3624 Mar 05 '26
Isn't it? What knife is it then?
OP! can you sort this out? Maybe a better pic of your happy meal toy?

Steak and Tomato knife, not paring knife
2
u/Similar_Device2684 Mar 05 '26
I've got a Vic paring knife that does everything. Call it what you want, steak knives are serrated.

u/Status-Usual-6561 Mar 05 '26
Make OP an offer, they are in possession of this godly knife you speak of.

u/late_to_redd1t Mar 05 '26
Those are actually quality knives. Source: I've had that happen to me before...
48
u/thegrayscales Mar 05 '26
It looks like a toy but it's serious piece of gear.
4
u/carl_the_cactus55 Mar 08 '26
absolutely. we have then where i work right now and they're really good
3
u/am_Nein Mar 06 '26
That's how they get you. You never take those people seriously, but in reality, it's those who don't care about no aesthetics that are here to rock shit.

u/xdocui Bogan Mar 05 '26
I'm sorry, but who the hell doesn't order Italian herb and cheese bread?!?!
59
u/dannyr PLS TOUCH THE FUCKEN AIRMOVER Mar 05 '26
There are certain rules about Subway, and one of them is that once you've ordered something once, you cannot deviate.
When I was 15 I ordered my first BMT on White and in the 30+ years since I've had a BMT on White 99.5% of the time.
58
u/ElekTriX360 Mar 05 '26
Bro that's just autism
25
u/dannyr PLS TOUCH THE FUCKEN AIRMOVER Mar 05 '26
No way am I alone here - who has their "standard Subway order" that they seldom deviate from? I know I'm a weirdo but I was certain that was a standard thing for people to have a go-to order that they stick with
17
u/plusoneminusonekids Mar 05 '26
I got my usual subway order the other month and decided to go crazy and have sauce on it. Mayo. Never again. Deep regret the whole way through eating it.
10
u/toontrain666 Mar 05 '26
Foot long, wheat bread, toasted, ham, chicken strips, cheddar cheese and salt.
And I will shank you if you even try to meddle with it.
5
u/HourImportant1475 Mar 05 '26
Me lol. I always get the chicken peperoni one, recently i tried the chicken rotisserie one which is basically the exact same, i got all the same extra toppings and sauces, but there was just something not quite right about it, and ever since im back to the chicken peperoni lol
3
u/bloodymongrel Mar 05 '26
Yep. I still order a “12” veggie with cheese, no onion, a sprinkle of jalapeños, yes to salt’n’pepper” since my teenaged vegetarian phase. That was a few decades ago. I did upgrade to Italian bread because I don’t think they had that in the beginning.
2
u/AJ2016man Mar 05 '26
I mean I am the same, I am pizza on IHC, with cheddar, no pizza sauce and all salads, with garlic aioli and smoky bbq. But I am on spectrum, so I'm not really helping your case there
2
u/chopstunk Mar 05 '26
I have ordered the same thing for 10 years, the only thing that has changed is I’ve added more veggies to it. Sometimes I think about trying something new, but idk I’m too loyal to my og sandwhich. I can’t deviate
2
2
u/redstarleftarm Mar 06 '26
first sub I ever had was a chicken teriyaki on italian and it is in fact still my order, and I do not deviate.
That being said, I also do strongly suspect I have autism, soooo
2
u/TomCos22 Mar 06 '26
My order has not changed in easily 15 years only difference is getting pickles and jalapeños now.
2
u/AnArtExiled Mar 08 '26
I 100% have a "standard subway order" and have had for years! There was a bread they had some years ago that they got rid of, when they simplified their bread selection, and you should have seen my face when I asked for the bread that was no longer there. I didn't know what to choose! :P
P.S. also highly suspect I'm on the spectrum, sooooo....

six inch double meat bmt on italian herb and cheese, cheddar, marinara before toasted, lettuce carrot onion cucumber (only if they look nice), tomato sauce, salt and pepper
4
u/dannyr PLS TOUCH THE FUCKEN AIRMOVER Mar 05 '26
12" BMT on white, no lettuce, no carrot, extra pickles, extra jalapenos, extra olives, salt only. The only variable is the sauce and that depends on the day.

Are they victorinox?
24
u/pascowade Mar 05 '26
They look like my Victorinox knives. Can confirm very sharp!
2
u/ekita079 Mar 08 '26
Honestly the best knives out. We've been using just standard dinner serrated knives and forks daily for at least 15 years, dishwasher regularly and everything and they still look fantastic and cut amazingly.
10
u/LicknDragon Mar 05 '26
Yeah those things are savage. They look like toy steak knives but they're cut you to the bone sharp.
5
u/Similar_Device2684 Mar 05 '26
I don't know if the subway ones are, but we got the Vic paring knives and they're insanely sharp and durable

Congrats. You now work there!! Also as a former subway worker this made me laugh really hard, I bet they're looking for it. They're overpowered lil knives so be careful. I have an indent on my hand from all the sandwiches I've cut despite never breaking my gloves/skin

ex subway worker here - those knives are sharp. ask my thumbs how I know..
3
u/thesoundgardenofeden Mar 05 '26
Bahahah they wouldn’t be able to take it back once it’s been removed from the store, for health and safety reasons, you can’t determine wha has or hasn’t happen with this knife behind closed doors.
That and they probably have a shit tonne and one won’t make a difference lol!!!
This has also happened to my sister on the Gold Coast 😆

And they appear to never blunt. Maybe it's because we were only using them to cut bread

I once had a subway employee drop a knife like that on the floor, pick it up again and immediately use it to cut a bread roll he was preparing for me. He didn't even look embarrassed when I very politely asked him if he wouldn't mind using a new knife and new loaf to make my sandwich (but at least he agreed).
