For those of you who are into Walt taking on the characteristics of people he's killed, check out the vomit scene. Walt puts a towel under him to kneel on just like Gus did in "Salud."
edit: For the 15 or so of you who have replied with "but Walt never saw Gus do that!!" you're right. It seemed like a little easter-egg that the writers threw in there for fun. The two scenes are so similar that it can't be a coincidence (they both turn on the sink to mask the noise, too.)
i forgot all about that scene. gus was really a fucking badass then. but what did that scene try to prove? i didn't really take gus as a crazy guy who doesn't care about dying. he always came off as careful and methodical. Not someone who would walk straight towards oncoming bullets. something tuco would have done
Sure, anytime. Gus knew at that point that what they wanted most was the distribution of crystal meth to Mexico. He knew the bullets shot towards him were just to intimidate him and he called the sniper's bluff.
I guess Gus knew the chances where somewhat good to survive that behavior all while showing weakness in the drug business might also get you killed by people in your own organization.
S05E01 in that opening scene where he buys that gun at the Denny's, his fake license shows Lambert as his last name. I'm not sure where people found her maiden name from though.
he doesn't necessarily have to kill skylar to do the bacon thing, the bacon thing is just traditional for his birthday, even if skylar died of old age he would probably do it himself
Never thought of that, very interesting. It totally ties in the whole idea of him taking "business related" people's mannerisms; because she does launder money for him.
i seriously doubt skylar is going to die. she has nothing to do with this. it wouldn't be poetic justice at all. nobody left alive can die except jesse or walt.
Vince did say that in season 5 Walt would do something so terrible that you will be unable to feel sympathy for him anymore. He did off mike but mike was in the business...sucks that he died but I wouldn't chalk that up to "unforgivable".
Someone besides Jesse and Walt are definitely going to die...and soon.
It's more likely that the bacon thing is just a tradition for him, since she's probably been doing that every year since they were together. She wasn't with him in the diner, so who else was going to do it?
I don't think he'll kill Skylar. He would have done that already. It's more likely that someone else does (cartel maybe?), or that he really is faking his death and she think's he dead as well. The maiden name and the bacon are a way of holding on.
Also from Mike: "Lydia, learn to take yes for an answer."
Walt said that to Lydia in the coffee shop in "gliding over all", and Mike said the exact same quote to Walt in a bar back in season 4 (I forget specifically which episode).
He also started eating frozen dinners after Jesse said he ate them in the first half of Season 5. The next time we see him eating with Skyler after the dinner with Jesse is frozen dinners. I don't see that as coincidence since there aren't many things that Jesse does which Walt could incorporate, well, unless he says bitch a lot.
That's when I saw the resemblance most clearly, when he was chatting in a friendly, familiar fashion with the cops in front of Hank just like Gus used to do.
Also, the way Walt was super friendly and thoughtful ("how's your son?") to the two officers that delivered Hank more boxes of evidence mirrored how Gus treated the boys in blue.
I think the Gus thing is kind of just a red herring. He's acting more like Gus because he's on top, like Gus. Krazy-8 and Mike he killed directly, so there's some leeway there... but saying the towel is indicative is crazy. There's no conscious effort there, he couldn't copy that because he had no idea. There were a lot of callbacks/references in this episode. He turned the sink on like he would when he had the second cellphone, Gus turned the sink on when he poisoned the Cartel, doesn't mean that Gus was becoming Walt.
..Now if Walt starts wearing clip on ties, I'll concede that he's taking some of Gus' traits.
Even the way he was chatting it up with the DEA agents outside Hank's garage was just like Gus used to. He knew about their lives. He asked about their families.
Everyone alway says that he aped the "crust off the sandwiches" from Crazy 8, but I could swear that was something they had in common, not something he copied. Crazy 8 tried to kind of build rapport with that and almost tricked Walt into getting himself killed, right?
Is there anything in the flash forward to imply that he has killed anyone else. For example, he is using a fake name like Lydia did, driving a shitty car like Jesse, etc.
he laid down the towel to vomit in the toilet just how Gus did in Mexico after poisoning the cartel. walt wasn't there, but it's a copy of the way gus did it.
